Update: Noah Shannon CLEARED TO PRACTICE. 26 UI student-athletes investigated for online gambling, incl in FB, Men’s BB, Baseball, T&F & Wrestling

Awesome.

Hoping for grownups to do grownup things and put this into the rear view mirror.

Been completely unfair to have this hanging and weighing on the shoulders of student athletes. Most all from Iowa & ISU.

Figure it out. Quit messing with eligibility and availability. Make a decision and move on. Stop overthinking things. Rule and move forward.

This is why Power 5 CFB needs to break away from the NCAA and develop their own commission structure.

Tired of these sloths.

Bunch of morons.

@BigOHawk

I posted what follows on October 25, when we found out that the NCAA vote was delayed by 2 weeks, to Wed Nov 8.

As you can see, Docherman said on Oct 25 that Saturday, Nov 11 would be the earliest Noah would be able to play.

Those posts from Oct 25:

bad news for Noah Shannon

2 weeks from today is Nov 8

there is a rumor on the wrestling forum that some schools objected to making the rules changes retroactive (hence the delayed vote)

Therein lies the problem.

And the conundrum.

NCAA is twisted up in a members and rules discussion, and at the same time hangs out to dry the very student-athletes they are commissioned and financially supported to protect.

The state of Iowa has a very serious gaming commission and it cracked down with the DCI.

But no other state did.

What does that tell you?

Dudes in Iowa (UI & ISU) have paid the price. Move on.

The NCAA is a collective group of spineless jellyfish. They can’t make a decision and history has proven so.Totally agree with the thought of breaking free from the NCAA.

I'll say one last thing for the moment, then need to do my own adulting thing.

Having been a former D-1 athlete in the B1G, I will tell you this: There is NOTHING more precious than your eligibility. Nothing.

You, along with your coaching and support structure, do EVERYTHING to retain that eligibility. Rules, behavior, academics, law...all of it.

It is what that student-athlete comes to become about, outside of the field of play.

So if and when any student-athlete's eligibility comes anywhere close into question, it requires more hands on deck to make the best decision and press forward. For everyone. Immediately.

Being in limbo or purgatory is the absolute worst punishment ever. And we've seen it first hand for the last 6 months.

These major Iowa university student-athletes have been punished so deeply, badly and unfairly through inaction and indecision by the NCAA that it just boggles the mind, but yet opens the eyes to the NCAA's complete disfunction and inability to effectively operate as a governing body with the care and concern for those who they have been commissioned to protect.

The jig is up. And it's clear and wide open for all to see.

Time to move on from this dysfunctional governing body.

Peace y'all.

Iowa DCI has some questions to answer as well.

@tigerguy_ posted what follows on the Wrestling Forum regarding the Iowa wrestlers linked to gambling:

"My understanding from compliance is that while there won't be a death sentence for the guys involved, they are all going to lose this year with no chance of saving the year of eligibility. In a nutshell, the seniors are done."

I asked him if this was very current news, like today, or from earlier. I doubt compliance has heard from that which is supposed to come out Nov. 8.

Just joking dBookie but "spineless jellyfish" is very redundant as jellyfish are invertebrates. Now if you said something like "spineless xxxxx" and used the name of some yicky vertebrate like a snake, bat, or rodent, then I think it would have been better.

But I agree with you.

Glad it takes 50 meetings to figure this out. What a JOKE. Wonder if they are meeting to schedule the actual meeting. The old meeting to discuss the meeting routine
