Update: Noah Shannon CLEARED TO PRACTICE. 26 UI student-athletes investigated for online gambling, incl in FB, Men’s BB, Baseball, T&F & Wrestling

I don’t think the nepotism for Connor and Patrick is that bad. My comment was solely aimed at Mr. 25! I still think Brian being the offensive coordinator in 2023 might be worse than Little Lickliter in totality. If we would have gotten a second year of him in 2010-2011, that probably would change my thinking.
You need help. This is becoming unhealthy for you.

Brian. Get out there and find another receiver. Counting on ya! The difference is one guy had one season and the other will have had seven in the fall. 🤷‍♂️ But I also guarantee our offense will be better this fall!

From looking at the responses to this case on places like Twitter, I can see scumbag bug-eater fans licking thier chops. But anyone with an IQ above refrigerator temperature knows that this happens literally everywhere. The NCAA said this is only the beginning, so everyone should be prepared.

This is likely just a simple underage gambling issue, not a bigger issue of betting on their own games or something major like that. Regardless, it gives shit head Hawkeye haters ammo and it's irritating.

33 states have legalized sports gambling since 2018. Alabama (where the baseball scandal occurred) is not one of those states.

NCAA rules prohibit all athletes, coaches and staff from betting on ANY SPORT (amateur, collegiate or pro) in which the NCAA conducts a championship. So, for example, a collegiate wrestler cannot bet on an NFL game.

It's interesting how Iowa & Clown fans are going back, looking at weird things that happened in games.

One example, where the WR dropped the ball on what would have been the go ahead touchdown:

I just can't go that far down that road. KF is NOTHING like Lick. For whatever his faults in regards to his eldest son, Kirk does want to win, he's done a LOT of it, and I still believe the program means a great deal to him. Lick could not have cared less. He didn't even attempt to coach in games, and publicly stated he didn't even attempt to recruit top level players because he knew we'd never land them. The guy and his off spring shouldn't have been here for year 2, let alone 3.....

Brad Stevens did his recruiting at Butler. He was the reason for Licks success.

I’m not comparing Kirk to Lickliter. That’s a non-starter. Kirk is arguably the greatest Iowa football coach of all time and Lickliter is arguably the worst iowa basketball coach of all time. I was just saying that I thought Little Lickliter was like a true freshman or redshirt freshman and played minutes on the court only one year before Lickliter was let go. While the situation with Iowa’s offensive coordinator has been trending down year after year since the pandemic and we are somehow still rolling with it. And it’s never been good before the pandemic either.

Okay, I'll play. Are you just incapable of keeping your issues straight? You said Iowa was guilty of nepotism. All I said is your program has EXACTLY the same dynamic, with the HC son working for him, (like 40% of ALL P5 school have by the way), and two sons playing for the bball coach. The issue with Iowa is the results that Brian is getting, and not that he's Kirks son. Before you or some of the rock heads here go there Kirk doesn't fire his assistants. It has little to do with Brian. The only two guys he's ever fired lied to him and cost us a half dozen recruits in the Eno Benjamin mess. He's loyal to a fault, which is also why we keep alot of other really good coaches here like Phil Parker. So should Fran not have signed Patrick who was a top 100 player coming out of high school? CMac was a role player also , and a pretty damn good one who let the nation at 4 1/2 to 1 TO to asst ratio and a solid leader for our team.
The part you are 100% correct about is the results BF is getting. Seriously...if it weren't for the fact it is his son he would have been fired. No coach would keep the OC who had yhe 130th ranked O in the country...none...well besides KF I guess.

Jay Harbaugh is employed by his father. That is correct. He also isn't making close to a million bucks. He also is not our OC or DC.

He is our special teams coordinator and our safety coach (under Clinksdale). Both our specialists just got drafted...not going to look it up but how many schools had both their kicker and punter drafted in the same year? Wild guess....

This is the first time...

You guys also have been basically masterbating over our return guy on your board...hoping he comes to Iowa...yeah...Jay coached him

My favorite thing btw is that ND fans really want our safety transfer...who came in before Jay became the safety coach and lost his job to a Jay Harbaugh recruit

Now you want to switch to MBB? Jett Howard is a one and done that will likely be a first round pick. How stupid are you? Did you expect Juwan not to recruit his 5* son? Do you think Michigan did a favor by accepting his 5* son?

Come on man...seriously

To be fair...Jace was a questionable take at the time...now here is the weird thing...Jace came in as a PWO...and earned his scholarship

So back to little Brian...do you think he can get the Iowa O in the top 100 this year?

You know you want him gone...you know it...stop letting your hate of another program defend something stupid...

Your right its time to stop , because your not capable of keeping the conversation in the lane where it started I never commented on who was what kind of player or anyones performance, which includes Brian. Again , YOU said, "nepotism" was a problem at Iowa. I said your school is doing the exact same thing, and Thats a FACT. None of that is up for debate. The rest is another topic....

I don't live in Iowa. Is gambling on games legal in Iowa?

Yes, both online and sports book at a majority of the casinos is legal and available, provided you are over 21,.. Problem in this case is that apparently some of these kids were underage, plus the NCAA says collegiate athletes cannot bet on games in any sport,.. I don't think this goes very far.

There’s somewhere in the neighborhood of 6-12 decent apps (Draft Kings, Fan Duel, Caesar’s, Bet Rivers, MGM, Points Bet, etc) that are affiliated with one casino or another throughout the state. In the beginning, you’d have to initially go to that casino, set up an account, and make a cash deposit to start wagering. Now it’s as simple as a credit card online, PayPal, CashApp, or you can even take cash to your local Casey’s or Dollar General or CVS, etc to invest.

It’s simple and convenient. Like most things, it can be a lot fun if you’re responsible. Very dangerous if you’re not.

The thread has gotten off-track, but I still want to say that John L. doesn't deserve the ridicule he gets from some people. He was a walk-on who gave his best effort after his dad put him in a tough spot. Blame Coach L. for the poor recruiting and putting an over-matched John out there.
Yea. That’s what I tried to say earlier. And that only happened for one season. It wasn’t like it was allowed to happen season after season.
