I thought I saw somewhere that Iowa/Iowa state were notified by the betting company and did self report to NCAA.
Anyone else know about this?
Anyone else know about this?
That makes sense with the timeline posted by the University of IowaI thought I saw somewhere that Iowa/Iowa state were notified by the betting company and did self report to NCAA.
Anyone else know about this?
I mean, yea, they reported to the ncaa after the Division of Criminal Investigation alerted them to the problem and investigation. That’s hardly self-reporting.I thought I saw somewhere that Iowa/Iowa state were notified by the betting company and did self report to NCAA.
Anyone else know about this?
To me, if any of these players bet on an Iowa game that their team was in, they should get the maximum penalty. As far as their college athlete eligibility/suspensions I can only think the hammer will be dropped by the ncaa. Then you have the possible criminal charges. Maybe if iowa or iowa state knew about this and tried to self-impose sanctions and get out ahead of it, they would be able to control the repercussions. That’s not happening here.
Just doesn't worK that way anymore does it? I mean already The University is getting another black eye from the media, and they haven't had anything to do with any of this. How would a school know of an individual is betting, until AFTER the fact?Is anyone being "investigated" innocent until proven guilty?
He also had Hunter drop 21 in the first half at the big tournament and got him the ball about 3 times in the 2nd half while his son played iso one on one ball leading to a loss. Hunter should have vied for Big player of the year but was so misused by Howard it's astonishing. You are welcome to your opinion on Juwan as a coach. It's fair as he has so far had mixed results. You can say he unerachieved this year and that would be VERY true. He was also the only B10 coach to make it to the Sweet 16 last year and has had a #1 seed team in his short HC career.
I will also agree with you on Beilein...way better coach and talent evaluator until proven otherwise...
But getting back to the point...
Juwan recruiting Jett was not nepotism...it was circumstance...he had a kid who was one of the top recruits in the country...he literally could have gone to any program in the country...period...end of story
Arland is the only Hawkeye I've seen named. Used his gf's phone and was betting during halftime according to reports. Tripping on the 5 yard line, dropping a punt, etc. Hope this is just coincidence.
You confused Connie Hawkins and Acie Earl? Please tell me you’re kidding? Thanks for those who corrected my post about Acie Earl. Apparently, my long term memory is no better than my short term memory. The player I was referring to was actually Connie Hawkins.

To be clear you’ve only seen him named by another poster on here.Arland is the only Hawkeye I've seen named. Used his gf's phone and was betting during halftime according to reports. Tripping on the 5 yard line, dropping a punt, etc. Hope this is just coincidence.
I'm searching for anything concrete and all i can find is 4 baseball players withheld from playing in an article. Arland may not even be involved except i distictly remember reading he was using his gf's phone to place the bets. I'll do some real research and see what is out there. To be clear you’ve only seen him named by another poster on here.

The gaming commission has stated that no iowa or Iowa State players or coaches have been associated with betting on own games, point shaving, or game outcomes the players were involved with. That's a big relief. To be clear you’ve only seen him named by another poster on here.
I just posted that the gaming commission found no point shaving or betting on games players were involved with. Also gave a big whew.. that's a load off so why don't you actually readvmy post after i said I'd research it. Whicj i did and states the facts that are confirmed. So dude. You just stop dude. Ok dude? I mean really dude. Oh, dude, are you missing the post that i already like dude, posted?Dude just stop.
You say it 3 times like it’s a fact. It’s not a fact. You read it on a forum like the rest of us.
Dude. You mean that when i said Arland may not even be involved with any of this before you posted? Dude, you need to just stop.Dude just stop.

You're quoting me saying that only 4 baseball players have been held out of games and no point shaving or betting on own games was found by the gaming commission and chastising me for that? I said I'd research it, i did, posted the facts, and then have to take crap from you after i posted the actual facts. @littlez can chastise me as he brought my attention to the fact i may be wrong about what's going on. I readily admit i was wrong to @littlez . He has my respect so if he tells me I'm wrong in where i got my info I'll automatically check to make sure I'm not talking garbage. He's got my respect. I've never even seen you post. Maybe it's because my baby girl is wrecking my sleep every night but shut up.Dude just stop.

There is something you are missing...the part that Hunter stopped working out after last season and came into this season way out of shape. He got into half way decent shape during the season, was way better in the second half of the season but the reason the trust eroded was because Hunter would get gassed at the end of games unless he was sat half the first half which he didn't like.He also had Hunter drop 21 in the first half at the big tournament and got him the ball about 3 times in the 2nd half while his son played iso one on one ball leading to a loss. I appreciate your take. If a guy scores 21 on over 60% shooting in the first half you go back to him. You don't play him and not feed the ball to the best player on the team who is scalding the other team so uou can raise the draft status of your kid. Admittedly I've only coached girls basketball and never at d1 level so this is just my opinion. And you know the saying about opinions.... lol. There is something you are missing...the part that Hunter stopped working out after last season and came into this season way out of shape. Yeah...you are correct on Jade taking bad shots...he also had a lot to learn defensively (poster child of bad D as a frosh). But when it came to the shots that was because Michigan lacked shooters.
If you want to criticize Juwan it starts with roster construction. He came in thinking he could could recruit and he was correct. He didn't prepare for one and dones. That's what Beilein did...he recruited one kid to hopefully have an immediate impact and another to develop and stay 4 years (this is not a guess...literally heard it straight out of his mouth at an alumni event).
So maybe Juwan will hopefully learn...we are not KU, Duke or UK...we can get some top players but not like they can in volume...
So anywhooo....
Your assessment of what is wrong with Michigan basketball is wrong
Arland is the only Hawkeye I've seen named. Used his gf's phone and was betting during halftime according to reports. Tripping on the 5 yard line, dropping a punt, etc. Hope this is just coincidence. It turns out this was just coincidence. Arland is cleared of anything shady.
Where did you get the stat that 75% of college students have placed a bet in the last year. I can't find it anywhere, and even if I could, I would doubt that statistic. Perhaps and I even doubt this, but I could see that 75% of male college students placed a bet in the last year, but as far as females, I would be absolutely shocked.75% of college students have placed some kind of bet within the last year.
A Virginia Tech football player was suspended 9 games for self-reporting legal betting on the NBA (but it was an NCAA violation, of course). The suspension was reduced to 6 games on appeal.
Is that strict punishment still tenable?

You mean since they played a couple of generations or 40 years apart? Lol.....You confused Connie Hawkins and Acie Earl? Please tell me you’re kidding?
I assume the key part is "some kind of bet." When I was in college I used to say things (to my friends) like "I bet I can get that girl to go home with me." I am not going to claim I was 100% but I did win a few shots and beers on those bets.Where did you get the stat that 75% of college students have placed a bet in the last year. I did see a study that mentioned 75% of college students had gamboled, but it specific mentioned gambling. The two largest things they considered to be gambling were playing cards and playing the lotto. Sports betting was listed 3rd at 23% . The study also specifically stated that the percentages were estimates.

"Student" vs "Athlete" betting is different.75% of college students have placed some kind of bet within the last year.

Still waiting to hear more on Bruce, which is where this all started supposedly.
Very interesting. Both Dekkers and Bruce are listed as interested parties and defendants by several recently opened cases in the Iowa court system.
The prevailing rumor for ISU is Dekkers may even be off the team (hence the recent JUCO QB), and that they're going to be hit particularly hard on the offensive side.
Would think this would be helpful for Iowa’s case. The NCAA will conduct a separate student-athlete-only survey in the coming months (as if they will answer honestly).
