No but it could be 0-0. Maybe Gio will play a ball on the ground and early. Would be nice.

Pariades looks good and active. Same old other problems when teams bunker

Whew...too much anxiety in that game

Seems Needless. Result is OK. I hate those types of games. 90% possession.

Insane how much possession we had. I am not shocked that T&T bunkered but to have about 1 attacking opportunity is insane.

We looked too slow on the ball in the box. Trying to set up the best shot instead of getting the ball off their foot.

So the Nation's league is being done different this year I think for the Copa America so it's a bit confusing to me but apparently we're playing T&T in a home and away cumulative score type match (kind of like the Champion's league). So now all we have to do to advance to Copa America is to not lose 3-0 or worse. So even a 2-0 loss on Monday and we advance.

When I played (a long, long time ago) we were taught when teams sat back/bunkered to make quick short touch like passes with quick cuts to get open looks near the box. And, or take hard shots often when given space from above the box with those underneath there to get any deflections. Last night, we just played back and wide and never looked dangerous. Never got it into the heart of the D and made them nervous. 3-0 is great, but those watching saw the lack of creativity/attack.

That is still what we teach. I agree, it was a get the ball wide and a "now what?" moment. I thought they could have got numbers forward and kept whipping in balls like corners but we didn't. We would get to the endline and lack service or not have runners in the first half.

It is incredibly frustrating to have to deal with a bunkered in defense but you got to be creative and keep shooting.

Iowa women did a masterful job late in the match, into OT, of countering this when Bucknell was clearly only playing for PKs. Dillani had the Hawks play through balls to the end line wide, getting numbers to sag in deep behind the ball. Then we'd thread the needle to one of our forwards, and when multiple defenders would collapse on her, that forward would drop it back to a trailer to hit at the top of the box through traffic. We hit a crossbar late in the match that way, scored our first with Otto dropping it to Durr in OT1, then it was again a trailing McGroarty waiting for a drop back that hit that second goal off a rebond in OT2.

What you wrote is accurate for the first half but in the second half, the US had plenty of chances. They just didn't capitalize on them. They had 26 shots with 8 on goal. That being said, they left a lot to be desired. If Berhalter can't get goals against T and T with a one man advantage, he needs to go.

Dest kept pointing to the linesman, so I'm thinking he didn't call the ball out and Dest wanted to center to check with him. Center had a much poorer look at it than the linesman. When the center wouldn't do that is when Dest kicked the ball all the way to Iowa. Very petulant and immature of him.

But then he continues to harangue the center, practically begging for a red card. This is unacceptable, and Dest should be benched for the final as well if we get there. How is he going to control himself in a World Cup match if this is what he's like. This was totally bizarre.

Dest red card totally changed the game, USA had controlled the game up until then. And God bless Ream, but he shouldn't be starting anymore.

I just consistently don't understand the tactical choices GB makes. Gio has demonstrated repeatedly he's at his best in a CAM/CF role, yet he puts him out wide. 2nd half, Gio gets moved centered and the US creates many more chances before finally breaking through.

Everyone knows that about Ream, but no one has stepped forward. Berhalter has to solve it.

Richards/Robinson are the two best CBs we have. I don't know if one or both of them was injured perhaps, but trotting out 35 yr old Ream isn't an issue. Even Zimmerman is a better option than Ream at this point.

CCV i like as a reserve option, Mckenzie shows promise as well.

I don't have a ton of confidence in GB to get it right.

Ream: Dest showed a total lack of respect

"I think 'words with him' would be putting it nicely. There were a lot of choice words at halftime, but, at the end of the day, we had to focus on the second half, so we couldn't focus on that situation at the time. Digging in, we had 45 minutes to try to get a result and make sure that we were going to advance in the Nations League and ultimately qualify for the Copa America. There's not not too many things that I can say here publicly that we said privately."

After the US loss, more chaos in the Nations League Quarterfinals for CONCACAF’s Big 3 this weekend! Canada loses their quarterfinal, and out on the automatic spot to Jamaica. Mexico was a few seconds from the same fate to Honduras, before scoring to take it to extra time, on Unimas now.

Unrelated, but if you were going to attend 2 matches at this next World Cup, which cities would you go to?

Was watching some people comment on this on Youtube. I didn't see the game but saw some of the clips. One said it was one of the dumbest (on the player) red cards he had ever seen.

Another made a comment which was more interesting to me. Said that Dest hasn't seen red in 5 years with a club side. But has now seen red twice in a very small number of matches with the USMNT. The first time you can sort of understand, but this was over the top.

So new worry unlocked is if Dest can be relied upon to play right back for the USMNT. If he's constantly losing his shit and seeing red, we might be better off with a far less talented player who stays on the pitch.
