Warner Announces Wednesday

I don't disagree with the lineup and this isn't against you LAX, but I am not that quite seeing the upside you do. I still see possible holes at 141,149,174,184 that I feel too many on this seeboard AA's where they aint. Too many are way over their skies on Kaleb Young for one. I like the kid, glad hes in the room and like his character but what has he ever done to make anyone think he will ever AA? Id say out of the 4 weights I mentioned that Happel and Murin have the best chance to AA given their pedigree and current talent level. I don't see it for Turk and I don't see it for Wilcke. Although I do think they will be good starters and definatly win some duals for us, they hardly shout big NCAA tourney points.

Bottom line is this staff desperately needs to land Warner and finish off this class that Spencer Lee started with a bang. In the past 6-7 years this staff has failed 90% to get that extra elite guy to hammer down the class. Only exception was Skon and that was tough to take. IMO Warner will be a pretty dominant 197. Finish this out please because you are fooling yourself if you think Kaleb Youngs of the world are going keeping pace at the NCAA's with what Cael and Tom Ryan are recruiting. Sorry to burst your bubble but I hope this staff isn't as content with some lesser kids as some on this board are.
Kaleb Young is pure eyeball test for me. He steadily progressed throughout high school, and by his SR year he was dominating people, including turning a close loss to Mike Labriola into an easy takedown, cradle, Pin at Super 32. The same Labriola who one year later beats Penn state top 10 recruit and world medalist Wittlake at WHOS Number 1. I just happen to think he has the talent to AA, he doesn't need to be a champ for the Iowa team to be successful.

Young was a higher ranked recruit coming out of high school than both Happel and Murin. His best wins in folkstyle are significantly better than Happel's.

Lax,

I thought you were being facetious with your original statement where multiple national team titles hinged on Iowa landing 1 top 10 recruit (one that was beaten by another high schooler in the past year). Kind of a take on how high/low people get over these things.

Clearly, I was wrong...
I'm sure you all will have a good laugh over on BWI at the thought of lowly Iowa challenging the mighty PSU for team titles going forward with all of your recruiting prowess, go ahead.

I can't imagine Warner going to tOSU. I just don't think it's going to happen. With the class that Iowa has coming in/future teammates, fan base, attendance, possible future event at Kinnick, Coaching Staff, the way the kid wrestles, distance from home Iowa is compared to tOSU. Certainly not a slam dunk to get him but I say Iowa has a better chance of getting Warner than Trump winning tonight.

tOSU has Singletary and Romero. Singletary starts at Heavy right away than I guess Warner would slot right into the 97 spot.
My gut tells me it's 45/55 tOSU. My gut isn't as telling as other guts on here though.
He's a must get. Big blow if we missed on him.

Nope. Forgot about Moore. Ha!
I'll take 65/35 Iowa. phew

Can't say I agree with this. Young was a top 25-35 recruit. Along with his other accomplishments how are you arriving at the above conclusion? BTW, many or most services had him higher than Happel.

I believe you missed the point of my post altogether. Do you really believe that Iowa's chance for multiple team titles rest on the whims of a recruit named Jacob Warner? Get him and you probably win them, lose him and they are unlikely. That is what you posted...again, I thought you were being facetious and were poking fun at this.

Obviously team titles don't rely on just one person, but the common theme for Iowa wrestling the past 6 years has always been 'one stud short'.. I think that Warner is that one extra stud that the Iowa lineup needs. Just my opinion. 197 is incredibly weak right now, and the chances of it becoming 'stacked' in the next 2 years are slim to none. I think Warner will walk into the weight and be a force right away (Top 3) regardless of where he goes to school. I was being slightly facetious, but if not Warner... who? What other stud does Iowa have a chance to get? And its not even so much about who, but its when. Having Warner in 2017 is perfect, it gives him good overlap with the other studs in future lineups, namely Lee, Teasdale, Murin/Happel, Kemerer, Marinelli, Stoll. Missing on Warner and getting another top stud in 2018 or 2019 doesn't really help as much.

He'd beat Moore out

Have they ever wrestled? Moore made the U.S. Junior World Team and is already ranked top #15 as a freshman. One would think tOSU would be set at 197 for couple years. Would they really want to tie up that much $$ and have Moore or Warner riding the bench in a couple years?
**Already mentioned Singletary coming in at HWT.

The difference between 95 points and 115 points is indeed a game changer. Although the way PSU is recruiting we may need 140.

Let's agree that we at least need to get to 115, and I don't see it without another finalist in the lineup. That's why getting Warner is so important to Iowa, not to mention Brands.

Moore made the team at a thin weight. Casser was the favorite and got hurt. Moore is good but in 2 years I'll take Warner.

Hypothetically speaking, say you do get Warner, wouldn't it make sense to wrestle him as a true frosh? tOSU will be loaded in 2018 with Tomasello, BoJo, and Snyder all SRs. Thats a lot of points to make up the following season. and 197 clears out big time. Cox, Pfarr, Harner, and Studebaker all gone next season.

My view on the matter is that I think Fix would be a much higher priority for the Buckeyes than Warner in terms of 2017 class. If you had to choose between getting Fix or Warner which would you choose, as a fan?

My thing with Fix is I don't really know if he's gonna be a 125 (I know that's what people are recruiting him for) and if he is I don't think it's for an entire college career. I would say Fix because he's the bigger recruit honestly. If Collin Moore is wrestling well there's no need to start Warner right away unless he's beating top 5 guys. I don't know about Warner but when it's all said and done Fix will probably be a cowboy

I agree hard to figure out where fix will be his whole career. I wouldn't be surprised if he did go 25 all 4 years. I think tOSU is done with big name guys for 2017. Fix likely to OSU and Warner to either Iowa or Purdue.

on a side note...what's going to be more painful to swallow come tomorrow?? accepting Hillary as our next president or losing Warner to fOSU... Hopefully we don't have to come down to this.

I got fixed 30 years ago and I'm really happy about that. Sorry, thought it meant are you happy with getting fixed or not. Should have read more closer. I'm happy though. Warner without a doubt.

I think I know of someone who knows what weight every recruit will be at for their career...;)
