WBB Recruiting 2017 and On

Becca Hitner MVC Player of the year. Urbandale Ia.

She played very well at Carver last year.

2x 1st team MVC

Drake still has a nice roster, IMHO, and you don't see them throwing the ball away like we've been doing for the last couple of seasons. The difference isn't as great as it would have been a few years ago.

If Tania is back to her old self, there will be a marked improvement. I think Kathleen tried to do too much and really lost some confidence when she was injured. She is better at the off guard. Hannah will be ready. I like the way she plays. Alex will also be better with a healthy Tania.

Bluder coached teams have always lacked in fundamentals. e.g. Trying to dribble before possessing the ball and bringing the ball down after a rebound instead of keeping it high. Not knowing how to inbound balls against pressure.

I learned this summer that Coach Jensen handles the substitution pattern. I have never understood the staff's thoughts on this. They seem to not have a good feel for how a player is doing and take them out when they are playing well. I know they probably have it scientifically and statistically broken down but part of coaching is not reading studies and stats and just being a coach.

Unfortunately the rumors of all the transfers has circulated through the high school ranks. It would be wise for Bluder and Jensen to address the issue. As you can see the only recruits Iowa is getting now is from life long Iowa fans. Wetering, Goodman, and Meyer who are blind to the rumors. It's time to bring Vivian Stringer back. She could recruit.
Definition(s) of rumor

From Wiki

A rumor (American English) or rumour (British English; see spelling differences) is "a tall tale of explanations of events circulating from person to person and pertaining to an object, event, or issue in public concern."[1]

In the social sciences, a rumor involves some kind of a statement whose veracity is not quickly or ever confirmed. In addition, some scholars have identified rumor as a subset of propaganda. Sociology, psychology, and communication studies have widely varying definitions of rumor.[2]

Rumors are also often discussed with regard to "misinformation" and "disinformation" (the former often seen as simply false and the latter seen as deliberately false, though usually from a government source given to the media or a foreign government).[3] Rumors thus have often been viewed as particular forms of other communication concepts.

From The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, 4th Edition
  • n.
A piece of unverified information of uncertain origin usually spread by word of mouth.
  • n.
Unverified information received from another; hearsay.
Other definitions...

1: talk or opinion widely disseminated with no discernible source
2: a statement or report current without known authority for its truth
  1. a story or statement in general circulation without confirmation or certainty as to facts
  2. gossip; hearsay
  3. Archaic (rumor mill) a continuous, confused noise; clamor; din

The point of this is to clear up a misconception or false notion that you have with regard to the facts of the talk, opinion, gossip, hearsay, etc that you have received from your unknown/unnamed source; which is to say that it (the ‘tale’ or story) is first and foremost, one-sided, meaning that it is not ‘the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth’ and that it is likely either simply false (misinformation) or deliberately false (disinformation - or in other words, a lie). This is of course assuming that you are not the original source of the rumor, which is entirely possible. Either way, it is not fair, reasonable or even justified to start or perpetuate any rumors. It is in fact plain wrong, unjust and vile. By your very own admission, you are guilty of it, and that is the truth. Shame on you.

I heard that Notre Dame's starting lineup is transferring in. Hmm, one of us is clearly mistaken!

Iowa 16.1 TO per game. Drake 15.6 TO per game.
Iowa's numbers against tougher competition. Still too many, but with injuries to Meyer, Davis, Doyle, and Sevillian's illness not so bad. Being uptempo causes some, but too many unforced and lackadaisical TOs.

I expect that if Tania is back to her old self there will definitely be fewer forced turnovers.

Hopefully, they taught Meyer another move besides the back and forth head jerk before she feeds the post.

Sammie Bachrodt, Becca Hittner, Sara Rhine, Kathleen Doyle, and Megan Gustafson would be the starters if you combined Iowa and Drake rosters.

6-3 from Winterset. 2019 SR to be.
Averaged 14.5ppg and 9.0 rebounds as a JR.

Thanks for the info, oakhawk. It would be nice to get another gal from Winterset. The last was Abby.

Vivian is 70. I doubt she wants to come back at that age.
