WBB Recruiting 2017 and On

Brooke Schramek, 6-2 W, Benet Academy (Lisle, IL): committed to Wisconsin, becoming the first member of the Badgers’ 2020 recruiting class. Iowa was the runner-up, while Illinois and Missouri had made her final four.
She had narrowed the list to four schools — Illinois, Missouri, Iowa and UW — before cutting it down to Iowa and UW this summer.
But her growing comfort level with the UW players and coaches, as well as the presence of the school’s interior and fashion design program, made her choice an easy one.
Same HS as Kathleen Doyle. Second player who chose a school because of a design program . Haley Lorenzen went to Florida for their fashion design.

Non poster is NOT Mr. Joens! This guy has a grudge against Bluder because he says she ran off his dear Whitney—get over it! She is gone, happy where she is and closer to her boyfriend. He became very close to Whitney’s family while she was here. Sad situation to keep putting down Bluder and the Iowa program because of this and a coward for not naming sources and letting everyone assume he is Mr. Joens.

And a grudge against Ally Disterhoft as I recall.

This is like the 2nd or 3rd time the board has been told this, but it doesn’t seem to resonate with the posters who are convinced it’s Joens. I guess we need a villain.......

I'm afraid Tsipis is eventually going to get things turned around at Wisky.

It's one thing if a player leaves cause the coach his hard on them. It's a complete different thing for the coach and school to get sued and settle for $60K to get the player to shut up. Kinda like Michael Jackson paying all those kids $30Million to stop talking.

$60,000 was less than the cost of defense was going to be, so it made perfect sense to settle like that. I’ve been to a lot of ISU practices and seen all the behind the scenes stuff and while Bill is guilty of being an asshole, he is not a racist and I’ve never felt he was abusive in any way to any of his players.

And like @L. Wade Childress said, Bill vs. Brian Joens is going to be a fun story line to watch.

Legend is right on. I know Bill and his whole family VERY WELL. Great family great friends.

I have to think that the Illinois on the list is just lip service to the home state.
I had hoped due to location and being her first offer Iowa had a chance. Oak, I know there are 3 commits spread over the next 3 years but how do you feel recruiting is going overall? To me it seems this year all their top targets have committed elsewhere and I'm concerned with the front court especially.

I recall the coaches at Illannoy were accused of abusing players a couple of years ago.
It was an assistant coach which lead to Bollant's downfall. I'll have to tell you a story about him when I see you! Bollant is a pretty good guy from what I can tell...from meeting him and from parents.

Does anybody know where Iowa stands with Clark from Dowling? I saw her play several times this summer and Fennelly was at every one of those games. As was an Iowa coach.

I thought it was a bit strange when Beal was quoted as saying "We" when talking about making a decision.

I have been skeptical of these allegations from the beginning. I think most members that have posted on this subject are also indefinite. Only a few seem to be certain of their opinion. If you know the identity of this troll, can you confirm whether or not he/she is local to Iowa City? I suspect not.

I don't lose sleep over this, but please for the record's sake remember the difference in signatures.

Plural means trolling, jerk. Singular equals long-time member without an agenda.

For what it's worth, I made the mistake of letting someone use my account once to post some information. They abused that by posting some harsh criticism of Brian Joens. Shortly after "non-posters" came onto the message boards. Whoever it is, they seem to have some working knowledge of the sport, but clearly act as if they are some type of insider.

Regardless of who that person is, they behave in a slimy manner. The moderators have removed some of his/her disgusting comments regarding the personal life of some of those on the roster/staff more than once.

The last I talked with one of the Iowa coaches, she is definitely on their radar. Traditionally a position of strength (largely because that is the prime area of focus for Coach Bluder year in and year out).

I would tend to agree with Cyberhawk, they need to identify and sign a legit center. Megan's graduation is clearly going to leave a huge hole, combine that with Stewart graduating as well and the front court is going to take a hit.

Hopefully Gustafson has changed Coach Bluder's mindset about bigger/physical posts not being able to play up-tempo at a high level.

While I enjoyed watching Morgan Johnson's quickness and agility early on, before her knees started giving out, I really like Gustafson's ability to take it and dish it out. The scoring is nice, too ;)
