That’s right, dumbass. Boris and Natasha came to my house and commanded me to vote for Trump. SMH.
No, they just abused your brain through social media and fox news. And... you fell for it.
IF there is a God and there is a Hell... the people going there are the ones that refused to use logic and reasoning.

Yeah, because I was going to vote for Killary, Brandon, and Scamala otherwise, right? (Notwithstanding that JFK was the last dem that anyone in my family voted for)

I've learned to not trust 'characterizations' of what people said, and to try and find the transcript or video wherever possible to support claims.

Anyone know where to find the press conference? All I've found are the opening remarks posted on the DoD website.

That isn't about what was in the OP.

I'm trying to find this part: "Pete Hegseth, Defense Secretary, just announced in Brussels at a press conference that the U.S. isn't prepared to face Russia, particularly at sea. He claims it would take over seven years to build the necessary ships."

Russian navy is a shadow of the Soviet navy, so I'm guessing it's something related to our ASW capabilities, which have withered relative to the Cold War (e.g. we don't have dedicated fixed wing aircraft for ASW on our CVs anymore).

We still outmatch them in every platform you'd want to look at, just curious if there was more context in the exchange for what he was talking about.

Just to make sure we get it all

“Rest of the conversation -REPORTER: Right, but every “peace talk” so far has been about what Ukraine has to give up—territory, NATO aspirations, sovereignty. So what exactly is Putin putting on the table?HEGSETH: Well, I don’t think it’s fair to say we’re just handing Putin concessions.REPORTER: Okay, so is he withdrawing troops? Paying reparations? Admitting war crimes? Or is his big “compromise” just taking less of Ukraine than he originally wanted?HEGSETH: Look, negotiations require both sides to make sacrifices.REPORTER: Yeah, but only one side started a full-scale invasion. If a guy steals your house and offers to return half of your living room, that’s not a “compromise”—that’s a hostage deal.HEGSETH: I just think it’s time for diplomacy.REPORTER: Diplomacy is great when both sides want peace. But when one side just wants a “pause” to reload, that’s not diplomacy—it’s a setup for the next invasion.HEGSETH: So you’re saying no negotiations, just endless war?REPORTER: No, I’m saying a peace deal where only one side makes sacrifices isn’t peace—it’s surrender with better branding”

Not sure who the reporter is in this exchange, but kudos to him for laying it all out at Drunk Pete's feet. Really made him look a complete fool IMO.

Lol, the US Navy would mop the floor with the Russian navy. They can't even get within range of Ukraine, a country without a navy, because of how shit they are. Suck that Russian dick some more, Pete.

No they would lose because Trump would order them to run up the white flag and surrender our ships just like he's prepared to surrender Ukraine.

after watching the press conference, i can see why trump picked him. he communicates well and sticks to talking points (which centered mostly around how important trump is in teh whole process)

as for the 7 years thing, he was speaking more generally about our bureaucracy. i think the statement was something along the lines of "if someone requests something, it should take 3 years to deliver, not 7 years."

this is basically a standard republican talking point about reducing bureaucracy

if you're looking for a guy to stand in front a of mic and hammer talking points, you can do worse than hegseth.

unfortunately, they're talking about doing a lot more to the military as a general organization that would seem to go well beyond pete's experience and capabilities with a teleprompter
