Wegher making a mark

It says you joined in 2013, so I'm guessing there's been a total of 2 Wegher threads I have commented on.

And in keeping with the theme of the thread title, I would be making a mark on you if we ever crossed paths.
LMAO You need to change your screen name to Billy Badass. BTW, there's at least 3 Wegher threads in the last few months and here's another newsflash; you can actually read these boards without being a member. Just admit it, you have some bizarre hatred for the guy

The loss of both Wegher and the kid from Lincoln were very troubling. Minor hemp arrest...not the schools business. Unknown what Wegher did. Same with Jewell Hampton. Kids cannot run the team but some tolerance for youthful high jinx is necessary in the modern world.

Wegher isn't from Iowa, FYI. And he turned his back to the state and college when he demanded special treatment after playing for one year. He will probably never reside in Iowa and contributes nothing at all to the state or school, except for giving Western Iowa mouth breathers someone to cheer for.

I still donate every year, and still pump money into the state's economy when I visit 3-4 times a year. So I would say I contribute more to my home state than Wegher does to his briefly adopted state.

You are an idiot stevenpatrisha

I am from Western Iowa and didn't appreciate your western iowa slam. Other than that I actually agreed with you.

Why couldn't you post this on the Morningside forum instead? The guy played one year at Iowa, underachieved, and then basically quit because he didn't get special treatment. I can't wait for the day when the hero of Western Iowa stops being newsworthy. Which should be soon when he doesn't make the roster.

And I can't wait for the DB of Seattle to quit posting around here but I doubt either of these things happen.

I don't understand the point of Wegher vs Robinson... What are you trying to prove? The two of them built off each other to create a solid rushing game which helped Iowa win a BCS bowl game.

Holding onto a grudge because he had a bad attitude four years ago seems really petty. The important thing is that he seems to have learned and matured.

It would be a nice story, and if he makes it, I'll be happy for him.

I think the most impressive thing about Wegher was his 7 foot vertical leap. One of the best in the history of NCAA football.

Its Fozzy Whittaker vs. Wegher for the last RB roster spot IMO. If the Carolina fans had a vote, it would be Wegher (if those articles linked by MThawkeye are indicative of sentiment).

SIAP I didnt read through all the bitching of A Rob vs Wegher but I saw the preview for the new season of Undrafted coming up and it looks like Wegher will be one of the featured players. He mentioned drinking and drugs in the short clip I saw as part of his issues.

Will be interesting to see what all he has to say. They showed quite a few clips of him at Iowa in the trailer.

here is the clip you are referring to. I'm rooting for him despite his troubles. People make mistakes and he appears to be back on the right track again.

In those highlights posted on the Panthers site there's a long TD against Northwestern that was called back. I forgot all about that play.

1.) He didn't ask for special treatment.
2.) His stats certainly are not the picture of underachievement.
3.) The high school he went to is in Iowa.
4.) He (or some other Heelan grad) must have stolen your GF (which Pee-Wee Herman could probably do, given your general nature).

Here is the highlight reel... man, what could have been. The kid was a true freshman. Still can't figure out where the hold was on that run vs. Northwestern - that TD would have changed the entire dynamic of that game.

I agree, I am still rooting for him to make it. Would make for a hell of a story and his issue are/were not nearly as bad as many others in the NFL.

And I believe Undrafted starts on 9/22. Not sure if it is on demand or not, I think you can find it on NFL.com

1) asking to not live in the dorm when all the other players in his situation are required to, and then quitting the team when he didn't get his way is him quitting due to not getting special treatment. It's literally the definition of him quitting for not getting special treatment.
2) for being the most hyped high school player in recent memory, he averaged 4 yards per carry and was outplayed by a former redshirt walkon. I would call that underachieving.
3) he resides in Nebraska, does he not?
4) Not worth responding to.

Notice I haven't touched on his other foibles that have been alluded to (drug and alcohol use, poor behavior in class, etc.) I suppose I could to really blow you out of the water in this argument. But if you want to keep rooting for a Hawkeye traitor, be my guest.

The NFL is loaded with guys who have or are about to throw their life away because they refuse to change. I have no problem cheering for someone trying to not go down that road.

Man SP, is your daughter the one he knocked up?

I am sure there are plenty of posters on this board alone, maybe yourself included that wishes they would have acted different as an 18-22 year old. Let it go.
He was also a true freshman and played one season, hard to say he underachieved.

I am going to say that this is part of the reason is YPC is low, if I remember correctly, he got a lot of the goal line /short yardage carries that season.

Funny, I remember him getting caught in the backfield at a much higher rate than ARob. Which is interesting considering the 4.1 40 he supposedly ran in high school, according to many western iowa mathematically and reality challenged posters here.

He did get a lot of goal line carries and that is part of where the 8 TDs came from. He jumped the pile on more than a couple occasions.

Currently? No idea. In high school? No, he didn't. Your obsession with him is pretty cute though.
South Dakota, my fault. My main point still stands, he's not an Iowa native.

And the obsession of the Western Iowa cult over a player that remained for one season at the University of Iowa 6 years ago before he QUIT THE TEAM is off the charts.

What obsession? Threads about former players and the NFL are pretty common around here, even if they left the team. I remember Jewel Hampton threads when he was with the niners, what, last year?

If anyone is obsessed here my man, it's you.

Jewel Hampton played a bit longer than one year in an Iowa Hawkeye uniform, had more success, and didn't QUIT THE TEAM when he didn't get his way. See the difference?

Lol. Jewel finished his Iowa career with less rushing yards than Wegher. And I don't think it matters how long he was here, he still quit the team. Jewel did set the freshman record for rushing td's in a season, but it has since been broken. I'm guessing you know who broke it.

You know Jewel was named pre-season second team all Big 10 off his potential for what he did as a freshman right? He also had game breaking skills he flashed in his prime that Wegher didn't.

I think it speaks volumes that you're sticking up for a quitter that quit because the diva didn't get the special attention he thought he should get for being a Western Iowa god.

Your obsession with Wegher is bordering on creepy. Maybe you should stick to analyzing stories in the Des Moines Register. I can honestly say I hadn't thought about him once in years until opening his thread, you on the other hand have obviously been seriously affected by him. I find it pretty funny. Keep it going.

You don't care about Iowa, so this is laughable.

yes, 4 posts in this thread of you defending him makes it clear that you haven't thought of him and don't care.

I just find it annoying that he gets any fanfare on a Hawkeye message board after he spent one mediocre year on the field, then quit when he didn't get the preferential treatment he demanded.
