You may be correct here. But then they damn well better start figuring out how to draw in a few more elite recruits or even I'm going to start being a perpetual whiner on here. Nobody is irreplaceable.
True but we let our chance at that ship sail. Now we need a name like Dake, Snyder, Nolf, Zain, etc here in some fashion for this era of recruits.
It's not like we are getting any of them. It's not going to help at all. PSU will still get all they need and more and Okie State will for sure be getting more than us because they already were. It doesn't take the second coming to successfully coach a team of A list wrestlers. Recruiting is where it starts and Taylor will out recruit T and T without trying.

I truly think what just occurred tonight and another season like the last (and that includes the boring style/lack of offense) I think Beth will have to force a change or two.
When Iowas job is open in 4 years it will have plenty of elite suitors. JB should be called and given the same treatment DT was given, not taking no for an answer. JB is everyone’s goat, arguably the biggest figure in wrestling.
When a hurricane comes you don't hunker down and hope for the best, you get out in front of it and that's what we failed to do.
We can't afford to wait 4 more years. We can't afford to be reactive. We should've been proactive the entire time.
JB may have one more world team in him and that's it. He'll be on a staff in less than 4 years, easily, and it won't be with us.
I don't see him being as effective as Taylor. Taylor is an elite wrestler that also screams coach and has already been making elite prospects as a coach. Taylor combines elite ability with that gym rat mentality that often makes good coaches. JB hasn't shown any desire to coach. JB was effective as hell with his lightening double and elite explosiveness but that doesn't translate to others as well as Taylor's style.
Dake has the most boring style ever and Taylor was never able to beat him? Winning is winning.
Teaching winning is winning. For all they accomplished as wrestlers TNT are not great at making champions, they are not awful but not great. I can't say for sure between Taylor, Dake and JB who will be best at teaching winning but Taylor has a leg up in my eyes right now. None have head coaching experience but Taylor has been doing a lot of successful coaching.
I don’t disagree DT is more proven than the others. I just think it’s important to understand that while DTs style is amazing and a joy to watch he couldn’t crack dake, even Nolf can’t crack dake and Nolfs a wizard. Dake has also shown he is still improving well into his 30s. The longevity is hard to find and he has seemed to master the recovery training cycle. I think if he finds a passion for coaching he would make an elite replacement for a TnT if JB is already elsewhere.
Don't worry, as they say, if we just keep doing the same exact thing over and over again, the results will magically change.

It appears that some have overestimated Cael’s skills as a master manipulator. How can Cael be a master manipulator when he doesn’t even have a monocle or a waxed mustache to twirl? Or is this just evidence of Cael’s masterful manipulation skills in an attempt to push Iowa further down the ranks? Will Cael’s next manipulations be to move Nolf to Ames and Cunningham to Columbus?
Tom could have a fire under his ass and someone could hand him a fire extinguisher and he’d toss it to the side thinking he could put it out his own way.
This I think this is the start of Cael’s coaching tree that will rival Gable’s. And even with Taylor never having been a coach. Recruiting will be as simple as Hi I am David Taylor here is your NIL amount and I am assuming he was promised a set amount of NIL each year. All the resources are set up from what Smith had provided. It’s not like he is starting a program from the beginning like Clarissa did with the women’s program. I really think he will be nipping at PSU’s heals within at least 3-5 years. Imagine how many fans will be in Beaver Stadium in the next couple of years when they host PSU vs OSU. 42,000 will be left in the dust, like our scoring record. If major changes don’t happen after this next season we will be in worse problems with recruiting and the portal than we are starting to show in getting the very elite recruits. OSU now being an even more viable option for recruits that was starting to be seen when they brought in Coleman. I figure the first to fall will be Alirez probably choosing OSU now. I think it’s too late for something this year but I think we need to see Beth earn her paycheck next year. I love what the Brands have done and represented but their time and style is coming to an end. And yes Brands helped get the money for the concrete bunker, Iowa built Carver for Lute Olsen and he never played a game in it. This additional reality check warrants significant changes.

It will not take Taylor long to succeed. That guy has the perfect personality to be a coach, and he does have lots of coaching experience, just at a lower level. Listen, this isn't from arrogance, I honestly miss the days of Bo Nickal winning for both himself in the team. As fun as a 100 point win was last year, it really isn't good for the sport. This hire will have Oklahoma State in contention quickly. I'm happy for David and happy for wrestling.
i love Spencer but Why are we sure he is the answer??? Isnt he going to be more of Tom and Terry?? Its not like a ton of recruits are coming now because he is in our HWC.

If I'm Beth G I call Jordan Burroughs today. She needs to fight fire with fire. But if that call is made I'm sure Manning brings in Burroughs this off season to his staff, gives Burroughs the head coach in waiting title, and steps down in a year or two. I've reached the apathy level with Iowa wrestling. Zero forward thinking, the inability to change or accept new ideas or concepts. Blindly loyal. Tom is the captain of the Titanic and thinks there's no way hitting the iceberg will sink his ship.

Oklahoma State will contend for a title this year if they land both Ailerez and Hendrickson. I would probably but them as the favorites if they land those 2 and get Haines, Kasak and Bearclaw to follow Taylor.

that Taylor would NEVER leave State college because of his training school and his Wife's business. they REPEATEDLY said that DT wouldn't leave State College because he was next to follow Cael as the PSTATE coach and he couldn't be swayed... They all knew Taylor's thoughts because they are all on the INSIDE TRACK and the WE ARE folks know everything about wrestling...hell they invented it...just ask them.

you have zero foresight. it’s a home run plain and simple. we have talked about how big recruiting is in wrestling for years on here and david taylor is a big name, he is connected to the scene and will crush recruiting.
He may have been correct though. A month ago if you asked DT I bet Iowa would have been way more attractive, he could have been Iowa’s to lose and in fact we lost him because someone else got aggressive.
