My weekend has some family events. It's bitter cold and snowy near Washington D.C.

Tonight, I'm going to my Aunt's (no pics) house for dinner.

Tomorrow I'm going to my parent's house for my sister's (no pics) birthday dinner. I'll hit the track at the gym and will power walk some laps. After the dinner, I'll be watching the Commanders playoff game.

Sunday, I'm working a little then Church on Sunday evening.

CSB.

How about you?

Gentlemen, if you were willing to put down your emotions and vote for common decency in your WPOTY candidate, we could have made changes, big changes, threads like this could have been posted with glorious breast to help.us through this Friday.

Vote with your head in 2025.

Parents get back from Florida Vacation tmrw, pick them up and eat at their place in the evening to spend time with them.

Sunday hoping to clean the hell out of the house and football. It's a pipedream but I would love to organize my gun room.

Lol, it's supposed to be 45 on Saturday and 38 on Sunday in DC. "Bitter cold" my balls, OP.

I'll be watching the Iowa men's team lose to UCLA tonight. Hit the gym tomorrow morning, and then get a haircut later on. And then I think the family we just be hunkered down for the rest of the weekend because it actually is supposed to get bitter cold here. Wind chills around -20 Saturday night and a balmy high of 3 on Sunday.

Oh yeah, and gonna make some Maid Rites this weekend too. That'll be yummmmmmy.

Freezing here in Iowa.

Middle kid has a 2 day basketball tournament, I'm coaching my 7 year old's team on Sunday which is basically herding cats. Then Sunday night coaching my oldest's club baseball team. But some version of this is basically every weekend.

Plan to go watch one of the nephews play some bball Saturday.

No pics and I are still deciding if we want to head up north for my grandmas 94th birthday. It’s a 2 and a half hour trip each way and we’re not sure how the little guy will do. Grandma is in an assisted living facility and the rents moved from that area back in November to be closer to us kids. So we lost our ability to go somewhere to hang out.

I was hoping to do some stuff outside having MLK day off but it’s going to be to damn cold.

Yeah that had me confused. No games tonight, two tomorrow & two Sunday.

Tonight I'll end up at the brewhouse, have a couple & listen to whatever band is playing, then head home. Tomorrow morning going to pick up my boat from its' annual service, drop it in the lake & run it for a bit. Watch the games tomorrow & Sunday, no big plans outside of that.

I'll also be watching the Iowa @ UCLA debacle tonight. Beers required for that.

We're kid free tonight, so I'll be taking some edibles before the game and cracking a lovely hop water or two once I start getting cottonmouth. The desire to have booze NEVER hits harder than when I'm watching the Hawks **** up a game. So every single time I watch an Iowa event.

Iowa hoops tonight. Tomorrow night I am throwing a holiday party for all my teams all over Iowa in DSM. Held off as long as I could, but it's mandatory to throw one and it all gets put on the company card, so whatever. Ordered ribs, brisket, smoked sausage, pulled pork, smoked turkey, and shit loads of every side they have from Whatcha Smokin. Bought $400 in booze at HyVee this am.

I plan to sit on my deck before the sun goes down to enjoy the 50-degree weather before it goes back below zero in the coming days, and then make some steaks tomorrow and get the UFC fights for a final sendoff to my son going back to college on Sunday.

Nice. What type of steaks will you grill and how do you cook them?

Who is your favorite MMA fighter?

I'm a huge Fedor fan.

Let's see.

We're supposed to have a bit of a temperature respite here, but rain or wintery mix on Sunday and then turning quite cold the next few days after that. Roads are still too messy to bike, unfortunately.

This evening, Mrs. A and I are going to go downtown for a cocktail from our favorite bartender Morty, and then have a bite to eat. If I can stay up and get control of the remote, I may eventually watch a little Hawks and Lions wrestling before bed.

Saturday, I suspect my curiosity will get the best of me and I'll at least sneak a peek at the Lee Jackson parade on Main Street. But don't worry - no lectures, no graveside services, no banquets, and I definitely do not own any reenactor garb. In the evening, I hope to watch the Caps pound the Penguins, with Ovi scoring goal(s). (I recently bit the bullet and speculatively bought 4 tix for Carolina on 4/10, which if Ovi scores at his career GPG rate, would give me a chance to see him tie or break Gretzky. If my math ends up working, it will be among my greatest triumphs.)

Sunday, sprinkle some work in, watch football. Sad that two coaches that I really like - Campbell and Quinn -- have to face each other at this point, but I'll be cheering for the Loins in spirit with my friend who is a lifelong fan and whose wife bought them sweet tix to the game. (He's a broadband executive, and can afford it.) Who knows, might even make a couple of stromboli.

Monday - Do a little work from home, as I didn't feel like dealing with the DC nonsense this weekend/next week. Gotta check schedule, but perhaps catch a little of the local MLK parade and then turn on the TV to see if Washington is burning, or at least, wood shampoos are being administered.

Related to MLK weekend, appropriate or not appropriate?: Per a buddy, today's holiday menu at the National Reconnaissance Office cafeteria features smothered pork chops, shrimp creole, pinto beans, southern green beans, fried okra, peach cobbler, and corn bread.

Unrelated to MLK weekend, and for you Brian: Mrs. A came in this morning and said "the best thing about being Catholic in this town is that when the evangelicals in our neighborhood try to get me to go to church with them and I tell them I'm Catholic, they instantly give up."
