What do you think Iowa's biggest advantage is over MSU?

I have some guesses but curious to what you think.

Vice versa, I guess I'd say our biggest advantage is our passing game.
We've already played a similar defense in Pitt. This should help our offense prepare. Also, we have a ton of confidence and momentum. Overall though, we are playing solid in all phases, the likes that MSU, who has looked overrated much of the year, has not yet seen.

I think CJ's ability to use his feet is our biggest advantage, maybe our only.... There are so many if's for us in this one, the gloves have to come off in my mind for us to be successful or even win. If KF goes into conservative mode again like he has been lately, it is eventually going to bite him!

CJ Beathard's will to win. Kid finds a way.

Seems like both teams just find ways to win.

Iowa strikes me as a team that all of a sudden you are down two TDs in the 4th and don't really know how

I dunno we've looked overrated. Our OL and secondary got decimated. Nobody can shuffle in 11 OL and at one point have their top 3 tackles injured. 3/4 of our starting secondary plus our backup safety were out. (See two true frosh safeties and a true frosh CB against nebrask).

Now we got our safety and corner back. Our OL finally got healthy and we pushed around OSU and PSU.

We've played and beaten Oregon, UM and OSU. It's funny how people are downplaying our win vs OSU..Urbans only B1G regular season loss in 4 years and we did it without Cook.

Bad weather games are unique...the last couple of weeks aren't indicative of what will be...in a dome...

I like Iowa's chances in this one...not so much vs OSU...

I don't think we have trailed a game in the fourth quarter this year, Illinois is the only team to have a lead if I remember right.

You guys played a good schedule and beat more quality teams than we have. OSU is a huge win! I don't care what the spinning heads say! We will have to play a near perfect game to have a chance, you guys are favored for good reason.

QB Passing: MSU
QB Rushing: Iowa
QB Game Management: No clue
Rushing Offense: Iowa
Receiving Offense: MSU
Pass Defense: Iowa
Rush Defense: Iowa

I've only seen 1/2 a MSU game this year though so take my analysis worth a grain of salt ;)

So I think their are two areas you have an advantage.

Explosive plays from the RB position. Wadley and Canzeri can house it on any carry. Scott and Holmes for MSU are very tough but don't have that speed.

Anf secondly special teams. We just aren't very good which is rare although we beat UM and OSU on a last second special teams play.

It was an impressive win, no doubt, but tOSU has also looked overrated much of the year, let's face it. Honestly, I would pick Iowa over all three of you (MSU, UM and tOSU). Time will tell.

Maybe I said it wrong but I meant that Iowa is up two TDs in the 4th and other teams are left wondering why and just didn't realize they were beaten effectively.

Iowa can be tough to run on - so that could be an advantage for Iowa. However, given the quality of the Spartan passing game, that will force the run D to be a bit more cautious. Thus, it may not be as big of an advantage as I'd hope.

Apart from that, Iowa's other advantage is simply the balance of the Hawk O. The offense is capable of running and passing the ball equally well. The running backs are varied enough style-wise that they aren't identical preps. The Iowa WRs are better than they get credit for ... and the Iowa TEs are excellent. Also, Canzeri and Mitchell are pretty solid contributors in the passing game too.

I think Iowa's ability to stop the run will be big. MSU hasn't really been able to run like they would like. Yes, they had success running on OSU yardage wise but OSU had such a pathetic offensive showing that MSU had the ball a ton.

I also think Iowa's balance should be very helpful.

Lastly, I hope Wadley gets most of Daniels carries. This game his home run ability is needed more than Daniels power.

Would love to see them move Wadley around and use some jet sweep fakes with him as misdirection may be badly needed

Lastly, CJB's legs could make the big difference as it has all yr. Hard to defend that. Cook doesn't have that ability

I should have read your post before posting my own ... we see Iowa having comparable advantages.

Game comes down to coaching.
I'm really curious how the team will respond if they go down a couple scores. Conversely, if Iowa gets a lead, they are going to have to keep playing in this game. If Iowa can play aggressive and make some good halftime adjustments, I like their chances.

Must capitalize on any MSU mistakes, and limit their own.
