Where should Iowa build it's new Basketball arena?

Bet on the game.....then attend the game. Leave at half time.....bet on the game...have a beer....return to the game.

I like the idea of being able to attend the game while making money betting on the game.

A: Next to the casino in Riverside.

I was a student about 5 years ago and attended roughly 50% of games (way more than the average student). Most studemts still went to the bars to watch the games because it was so much easier in the winter. I whole heartedly believe if you put a basketball arena DT (old cap mall) that students would instantly migrate to the games.

As a student there was nothing appealing about taking the packed cambus, walking, or trying to find a ride out to Carver. Once at the game the atmosphere sucked for over 50% of the games. Seating just sits too far from the floor.

But damn that ice cream is good!

Has it gone through some remodeling changes? It was pretty terrible when I was going to school over a decade ago but I believe they were starting to do some remodeling right when I left.

The library got completely redone 5 or so years ago and was actually pretty awesome with how modern they made the space. As a senior it was hard to find a spot to claim for a long study session as it was usually packed by students.

That's great to hear. I haven't seen it since about 2008 as well, but I will stop in next time I'm in town. I avoided the library at all costs because it was so dingy and depressing. My favorite place to study used to be the Blank Honors Center (hidden gem) or the Currier computer lab.

With everything going on with the university budget does anyone really think a new basketball arena will happen? Especially with the money that was recently dumped into carver?

I don't see it.

It’s time to at least begin the conversation of moving on from CHA; not like they be breaking ground on anything for at least 3-4 years anyway. Takes time to build the momentum and funding.
