Will I-State be left out?

I think the article is poorly written trash. However Iowa State would be right to worry - the Big Ten, SEC, ACC, and Pac 12 will be the last conferences standing - the Big XII will be ripped apart once their grant of rights expires in a few years and what's left won't be considered Power 5.

I do believe that there may be a point where we may see certain schools that underperform or aren't well invested in the revenue sports, or don't pull their weight in revenue, such as Purdue, Northwestern, maybe even Rutgers in a post cable revenue model world - that are cast aside. We're at least a generation away from that type of move in particular - that's something of potential only in a world where the arhletes are paid and the media revenue game changes to where these athletics departments are more like professional franchises.

The University of Iowa will be fine in the interim - we dominate the state and our presence leaks into the surrounding states (and media markets) to a degree that makes us a bigger fish than we appear to be at first glance. We're a top 20 program. However, look at Illinois - a generation can change everything and make us dispensable.

you don't know that as they just played Pitt a power 5 team, to wrap up a 4 game series. look at IA' s schedule as a rule IA plays 2 power 5 schools each year in the OOC, Missouri backed out of a 4 game home and home with IA, UConn backed out of a home and home series.

You do realize Iowa is going to 9 conference games and play isu along with 2 other non power 5 teams the years they have 4 conf games. Days of playing any other power 5 team besides isu are done. Only if Barta gives up a home game or drops isu which neither is happening any time soon.

I

The board of regents should see the hand-writing on the wall and put a plan in place to merge both Iowa & ISU into 1 institution within 5 years even if it has to be branded under a new identity and mascot.

Big Ten west is like the MAC.

Take away the tv money generated by Michigan and Ohio state and most of the league is pretty awful at football considering the resources at their disposal.

If I asked for you to rattle off iowas biggest wins last year most would start stuttering about almost beating Michigan state before they got to three.

If I asked you to list your team's 3 biggest wins that might actually cover most of them.

what I find funny is how much hate there is for ISU, you people go to extremes as trying to trash their instate recruits, remember these are IA kids, why this is allowed is beyond me.

the out right hatred is mind boggling. they are not even the same conferance

CJ Beathard is an Iowa QB and you hate him. What's the difference?

Actually Uni fan. Iowa state sucks

Just telling it like it is. Big ten west is a complete joke. Split them off on their own and they would get about as many eyeballs watching as the MAC.

Lol you are telling it how you think it is, but that isn't how it actually is.

Thanks for your opinion... as wrong as it is.

Last year alone, the Big Ten West somehow managed to muster approximately 2.8 million attendees to its home games. The entire thirteen team MAC fell shy of that number only by about 1.5 million.

Very poor effort on your part.

And all of this was when Iowa played 8 conference games. They play 9 now. Did you know that?
