Woodson has choice words about Fran incident with bench

Woodson is such a whiney B, Fran can go over there if he wants and for eye sore really? DO yout think the same of all the other coaches who do far worse but don't get any crap for it? Give me a break dude coaches do far worse than Fran always get a free pas...
Actually how far he went no he can't under those circumstances. Yes refs give a fair amount of leeway for coaches box but for him to go that far because an assistant for IU was talking to a ref did not warrant him to go that far and his disposition made it even worse. My question is where were his assistants and why is the grad assistant the one pulling him back. Connor is also luckily he didn't get a T going in there but finally one of the asst woke up and pulled him back before it escalated.

As noted by someone else and unfortunately I agree with Woodson they called a T and rescinded it is BS. To play devils advocate if Woodson did same thing because Gatens was talking to a ref we'd all lose are minds here and especially if a ref motioned for a T and then took it back. After his late T vs Wisconsin Fran can't let his emotions get the best of him that late in a close game especially after getting one in 1st half with time and score a lot different if he got one at that point in the 2nd half.

It was home game. Fran going over to Indiana coach didn't get a T at home, at Indiana it very well is a T.
Also the intentional foul on last Indiana possession---that was clearly before the 3pt shot from half court, but
at Indiana, who knows how that gets called.

It was great win....Iowa has a pretty good record when Murray goes off for about 30pts. Problem is when
Kris has an off game.

Fran has lost a good portion portion of the fan base. If you collected the outbursts and put them on a reel, it would make for one hell of good Youtube video.

The one a few games back where it looked like he wanted to go after a ref was the end for me.

I know two things:

1. There's a fine line between pumping your team up and costing your team the game, and Fran got PRETTY close to crossing that line when he went over to the Indiana huddle.

2. If Fran came on a presser after losing a game and said another coaches actions were "bullshit" and another coach should've been "thrown out," Fran would get absolutely SHREDDED TO PIECES by the media. I've barely seen anything about Woodson's comments. Wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't even get fined.
yes multiple things can be true at the same time. Fran going over nearly to the Indiana coaches box last night was not a good move. If he gets a T at that point it is so costly. I get why he was upset, in that the Indiana assistant getting the ear of the ref. But man, it was not worth the risk in my opinion.

And yes, Woodson's comments were also terrible. If Fran does the same, it's an immediate suspension. And Woodson's comments I guess take the focus off him and his team blowing a 21-point lead in a game that Indiana really needed from a conference race perspective.

you could say the same for 90% of college coaches, but hey why look at others when you want to be a baby to Iowa's coach.

You could put together a pretty good reel from Underwood, Izzo, and Howard just in the last two weeks as well, and it's crickets from the media. Well, not so much Howard as he also has earned his reputation.
Fran 'earned' his reputation when he came into the league and Iowa was what dog sh!t wipes off its shoe. He fought to get respect the first five years, and for the most part has mellowed since then. but every once in a while, there is a need to call out the bullsh!t that is B1G officiating, and Fran erupts.

I think Fran's approval ranking among hawk fans after the Big Ten tourney title win last March was over 80%.
Today?
Still over 70%.

I don't think it's anywhere near that high. His conduct aside, he hasn't sniffed a real Big Ten title. Only a handful of NCAA appearances. Zero Sweet Sixteen appearances. Low attendance numbers.

McCaffrey shouldn’t have gone over and deserved the T, but the point about trash officiating from Lil’ Larry and crew stands. With as much money as the conference brings in, you would think they could afford to adequately train and hire better officials. Yes, I get officiating is hard and mistakes will be made, but the overall quality has been terrible for a lot of years now.

For me, it’s practically made college basketball unwatchable.
Who would have guessed a dream team of Larry scrotum, Paul scelz, and Courtney green would devolve into what it did. Shocked I tell you....

That poster is a moron on every single topic. It is breathtaking.
I know he's plugged in on political news, whether people agree with him or not. But it's hilarious seeing him try to talk hoops. He never has any actual basketball analysis, just stock comments that have nothing to do with the game. He is a joke.

yeah, what a surprise! The three worst officials in the BIG all officiating (sort of) the same game. Not sure they even know the rules for basketball given the no call on goaltending, terrible.

Fran never went over to Indiana's huddle. He went over just across center line to see what the assistant's conversation was, with the ref.

Lute also did that when Bobby Knight was talking to the ref, and it probably irritated Knight, (what didn't?) but he said and felt he had a right to know what the conversation was.

Man, I remember this almost as if it was last year!

Uh, it is exactly the same with his political takes. He must keep a pen by his recliner while watching all the outrage shows on Fox, then comes to this site and regurgitates the Carlson/Hannity talking points. Both comical and sad in equal measure.

We all would love Fran no matter where he coached. Even Iowa State. We'd wish we had him ourselves. Well, lucky us. We do.

Actually I don’t think the technical was originally called on Fran. Looked to me like it was called on the IU assistant, who i would guess said something unsavory towards Fran. And yes I agree, Fran shouldn’t have been over there in the first place.

Were you even alive the last time Iowa won a regular season Big Ten basketball title?

44 years ago and they tied with three other teams.

It's been 53 years since they won an outright regular season Big Ten title.

You look sad when you invoke tournament glory. It's why many other fanbases make fun of Iowa.

Holy shit, really!? I had no idea!

I do know I very much enjoyed seeing Iowa basketball players tear down a net and hold up a giant trophy that said BIG 10 BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS on it in 2022 though.

I'm not. I was responding to a poster who brought up the poster-in-question's political takes. Ask him why.

Oh you're not?
