Woodson has choice words about Fran incident with bench

I know he's plugged in on political news, whether people agree with him or not. But it's hilarious seeing him try to talk hoops. He never has any actual basketball analysis, just stock comments that have nothing to do with the game. He is a joke.

We all wait with bated breath at your high level analysis. The next coming of John Wooden.

You posted a personal attack on me and are now crying when I respond?

Perhaps you should stop being a pisspants.
LOL, you are pathetic

Any additional posts on the basketball game based on your political views and those of others? Really relevant to the basketball game last night, but, I know you cannot help yourself.

That's three personal attacks now. You have any original tricks?

You seem to be enjoying the conversation as you continue to respond to my posts. If you aren't interested, why not try to sit the conversation out?

Wow! A comprehensive poll of 245 people, not even necessarily Iowa fans.. That proves it!
Well, you guys warm yourselves with this poll while a bunch of us revel in an incredible comeback victory.

I'm a big Fran fan, but no he can't just go over to the opposing team coaching box if he wants to. I thought the refs showed restraint in that whole situation last night, not giving a T to the Indiana assistant or to Fran.

I don't know if it's a hard and fast rule, but generally assistant coaches are not allowed to speak to the refs about what is going on in the game, that's only the head coaches. Fran seemed perturbed that the assistant was getting a lengthy discussion with the ref about a call.

Fran's T in the first half was fairly routine. He had a purpose for it. Halfway through the first half and Indiana didn't have a foul called. Sandfordt got bumped a bit while making a layup, no call. That had been called several times when Indiana had gone to the rim. Fran made his point, and immediately after Indiana got called for a moving screen on offense and hand-check on defense.

Woodson in post-game was ridiculous as well. "I'm not going to comment" but then he goes ahead and comments. And then insinuating that the play Thompson got hurt on was a dirty play by Murray. Go away.
Perkins was the one who got tangled up with 25. Right in front of the Indiana bench, they thought it was intentional I guess…

Fran has lost a good portion portion of the fan base. If you collected the outbursts and put them on a reel, it would make for one hell of good Youtube video.

The one a few games back where it looked like he wanted to go after a ref was the end for me.
Same could be said of most coaches. I suggest avoiding the thought exercise of what an edited “reel” would look like. It’s a dumb exercise yielding dumb results.

I don’t take much issue with Fran’s ref outbursts. Compared to so many coaches, many of them the “pillars” of college ball, Fran mostly leaves them alone, gives them leash to address inequities he feels are occurring. Once he feels it’s gone too far, he blows. Or if a ref has an untoward comment directed at him, he blows. And he gets T’d, usually. Fine. That’s more or less what’s supposed to happen. It can look bad in large part due to Fran’s body language and mannerisms being really menacing. But Izzy’s body language and mannerisms are arguably quite similar, only they occur much more frequently, seemingly as a reaction to nearly every unfavorable call, but he’s like 5’ 4” so it reads not nearly as menacing.

Whatever. I don’t care. Between refs and league office and athletic leadership and even university leadership, let them care.

And I have zero problem with Woodson’s reaction to any of this. That dude is class, too, just like Fran. But he’s not perfect, not a robot, and just lost an emotional game that included losing a starter to injury.

OP makes me laugh with all his superiowa superemotion.

So much of this wouldn’t even be an issue 20 or 30 years ago before it was so easy to edit and save video clips and proliferate and view them effortlessly and infinitely.

It’s over. Both coaches and staffs are full of good folks who are competitive and very invested. Big deal if some of it looks “bad” — especially when viewed over and over and slow-motioned and edited and so forth.

I swear some of you want everyone to be the same, dull, fake-ass robot.

Were you even alive the last time Iowa won a regular season Big Ten basketball title?

44 years ago and they tied with three other teams.

It's been 53 years since they won an outright regular season Big Ten title.

You look sad when you invoke tournament glory. It's why many other fanbases make fun of Iowa.
Feeling the goalposts moving. Sad is watching you walk in back.

Nah, I will continue replying to the posts I feel like replying to and offering up commentary. That is sort of what internet message boards are for. Feel free to stop reading.

Are you not getting much traffic on your Tuesday musings? If so, please don't take it out on the rest of us.

None of it really matters. People get incredibly worked up over what coaches do or don’t do. It’s forgotten two days after it happens.
I don't think this will be forgotten in Feb when we go there to play.
Iowa will get the short end of the stick I'm sure.
