Wow. Nebraska sucks.

We are lucky we play in such a crap division. We get to play Nebraska, Illinois, Purdue, Minnesota, Northwestern, Iowa St and two crap non con games every year. We can basically cash in at least 6-7 wins every year. Makes us look a lot better than we've really been the past 5-6 years.

I don't like Nebraska but come on... it's his first year. Kirk won 1 game in his first season and picked things up to get to the Orange Bowl in one of my most favorite seasons ever in 4 years. He cleaned out some of the old guys who quit and is playing some young guys. They will get better as much as I don't want them to.

Hasn’t Nebby had 4 straight years of top 30-35 recruiting classes? Regardless of what you think of the rankings that is still a hell of a lot more talent than KF had to work with that first year.

I don't remember Kirk talking about winning the Big 10 in year 1

Frost is the idiot who spent the offseason saying something special was happening. As recently as two weeks ago, he was saying he felt they'd be in the BTTG.

It is one thing to show confidence in your team. He was over the top lying about it.

He made his bed, now he can lie in it.

A terribly coached football team. Frost talks a huge game in post game pressers, but he has been an absolutely dreadful coach this year.
the players just don't want to play for him, it's not his fault
it's not his job to get them to perform and keep fighting and to play 60 minutes of football..........

:D

Star player often do not make great coaches.

yes, I have noticed that also. and, conversely, the best coaches (and managers in baseball) were guys who couldn't cut it in the Major Leagues or NFL or were borderline at best (like Bart Starr, for example)

Any idea why? I have always wondered about that.

Obviously you people don’t remember the 60s or 70s. Iowa had plenty of 1-10 seasons.
Yes. But we weren't talking junk about winning the conference either.

Frost has talented players on that roster. All the recruiting services the last several years ranked some good Nebraska classes. Kirk had none of that coming in his first year, literally built the program from scratch.

These guys look worse than Riley's Huskers, and I didn't think that was possible.

It's because star players see the game at a different level and can't relate to or convey their knowledge to their players who do not possession their ability.

Perfect example, Wayne Gretzky and the Phoenix Coyotes.

They may have some talent at skull positions but the OL & DL are soft.

They will get manhandled by physical teams. Same Nebraska aslast year.

I suppose Ted Williams is the most obvious example. But why do all the Wrestler superstars become the greatest wrestling coaches? Or are they not really that good at coaching and just have the clout to get the best recruits?

There is also a grind that I don't know they can relate to with the najority of their players. I have seen it at the hs level at times, mostly with assistants/JV coaches. Its like they don't get that kids are giving everything they have but they just can't do what the coach can/could. Its that lack of perspective of a role player.

You are correct though, this is very apparent at the professional and collegiate level.

Being a great player and being a great teacher are two very different things.
