Well they should have before. They had metal detectors and pat downs for the pre riot Jan. 6th rally. If the Secret Service can not vet the people that will be within a gun shot of him before.

The political environment in this country is way way overheated.
The right hates the left. The left hates the right. More now than perhaps ever. It is what it is. If Biden was shot, plenty on the right would react the same way as we're seeing from some in this thread.
I don't think it's a great idea to spread rumors in this type of situation but I do credit you for at least listing it's a rumor.
During the dogpile, you can also see some of the folks in the background looking off the edge of the bleachers to the left which would be the direction of a potential alleged shooter.
Ofc. Whoever did this was a insane lunatic. How does that change the fact that Trump has been calling for stuff like this? He's bad for America. Ever since he ran for president we have only gotten worse. He needs to step aside for the health of the nation.

If it didn't matter to me before considering the candidates and how they led the country, it doesn't matter to me considering what just happened.

The problem is, Trump and his minions rhetoric, are the equation. He brought all this anger out of everyone. He is the common denominator.
Since Trump hit the scene we have seen an unprecedented coup attempt by his supporters. An unprecedented kidnapping attempt against a Governor by his supporters. An unprecedented attempted murder of the spouse of the Speaker of the House. And now an attempted murder of him.
I want to say I don’t condone political violence. In a perfect world I would want this to become a unifying moment against gun violence.
That being said, this doesn’t take away the fact he’s still a felon and a rapist.
