Your 2022 National Champs are...

Sorry guys, away from the interwebs last night.

Where are you seeing this amazing progression?

Mainly Freestyle. But Junior World champs sure seem to do pretty well at NCAAs. Him beating Beard last year at NCAAs was nice too.

I’m curious what Spencer said about timetable for knee repair or current state of said knees?

Not getting surgery. Just going to rehab and strengthen both knees. Barring any setbacks to any other ligaments, Spencer will wrestle the rest of his career with no ACLs.

Yeah I mean on Suriano’s. Hence the whole leaving thing.

You're right. Just keep in mind 2 things. 1. Carl wants to win and he was honestly blindsided by the Suriano transfer.

2. Crazy Bob does as Crazy Bob does. He's always been obsessed with "partners" for Nick and Nick being the center of attention. Nick wrestling with Gilman and RBY and Nick Lee and returning to PSU to "save" the season is the perfect recipe for a Suriano return.

And ASU doesn’t want him. Loyalty to both Courtney and McGee.

Lol Dude is posting like he’s experienced more concussions this year than I have. (I’m on my second.so far.)

Ouch.

His progression is amazing. I'm just wondering if he's a bit too small this year.

Ferrari
Amos
Dean
Warner
He beat the 9, 2, 3 seeds in consecutive matches, on the backside, at the tournament last year and lost to the 1 seed in OT in the consi-semis. Granted, he did lose twice to Woodley, but Woodley wrestled out of his mind that weekend.

It very well could be the order you have, just saying don't sleep on the kid. I'm betting he "upsets" one of them to at least make the semis.

Lol that is awesome.

That said, part of the point was how much hard work he’s obviously been putting in. Looks like that’s continued through the summer. Awesome to see.

I’m a big Tony fan and though I respect that Kerk was coming off injury last year and is a talent, Tony manhandled him. Twice. And has been putting in a lot of off-season time. It will be a better matchup that last year but until I see otherwise, I’m taking Tony.

i dont see Gable coming back to wrestle in College and giving away the Millions in a WWE contract and a " Rock style" movie deal that has been in the works since his Olympic Gold. ( as per Triple H interviews and Tweets ) He has rebuffed MMA for now and sees WWE as more of an easier path to stardom and fortune without all of the brutal competition and the chance to lose it all in a tough loss. He has to strike while the Iron is Hot.

He also alerted Minnie that he was coming back to wrestle another season.

Iowa is damn fortunate to have Big Cass as our HWT. This I know for certain.

Man, I can't wait for this season to get started! Gonna be a crazy year:

Fans back in Carver(serving beer now?)

Spencer going for 4

Eierman and Kemerer looking for revenge

Bulls redemption tour

Desanto, Young, Warner and Cassioppi trying to climb higher on the podium

Murin hopefully breaking through the bloodround barrier

Assad/Brands debate hopefully being put to bed

As I type this, just can't help but think that this may just be the year of 10AAs.

I know, I know. History tells me that I'm just being a stupid Iowa homer, but if there ever was a year to realistically achieve it, this is it.

Besides, it's the offseason. Why bother with anything but extreme confidence in the team?

It makes me laugh when people say that Cass needs to “start lifting weights”. People don’t seem to understand that there is a difference between being strong and being ripped or shredded. Just because your muscles aren’t as defined as some others doesn’t mean that you are not as strong or stronger than others, especially in the heavyweight division. I mean holy hell Cass has always been a damn ox. I would say that strength has not been a weakness for him.

who said this? Or did you mean Warner?

165 is pretty loaded. Could see Facundo having a rough tournament. Everyone say Griffith is staying at 165. Can’t see anyone beating CStar besides Kem. 197 is the best weight in wrestling. No way Warner wins that weight but I guess it’ll depend on which Warner shows up. If Gable is back then I can’t see Kerk taking second over Parris in folk style no way.
If Iowa is healthyish then I don’t see it being any closer than last year. Unless there are still some big time transfers to be had.

After this upcoming year is Cass the only iowa starter returning? I guess 184lbs will be back whoever that is. That’ll be interesting watching basically an entire new team.

nothing small about Elam. He’s a full size 197lber. Dude had a good four inches on Amos, in a pic of the jr champs, and is just as big in the upper body. Braxton just has huge legs but he’s not tall at all. He won’t have any problem holding 197. One thing about Amos is you can always get to his legs. Now if you can finish is a different story. It’s interesting to see what he has in terms of his top game. The one to worry about weight wise is Ferrari. He was already at his limit to make 197, plus he lives in the weight room, and he just doesn’t have any easy weight to lose as cut as he is. His upper body really isn’t that big yet either. He’s another guy with damn tree trunk legs.
i would pay good money to see Amos take Ferrari for a ride with a big throw. As much as I hate him Ferrari will win their first match.

Dean is to small. I wouldn’t forget about Darmstadt and his back up is a stud too.

Is it about time for a 215 weight class?

Murin and Warner will still have eligibility. So potentially 4 returning starters

Myles Wilson surprise?

Myles Wilson surprise?

I'm ok if that is how it plays out. Assad/Brands/Wilson, it really doesn't matter to me who is the starter. I'm just hoping someone steps up and claims it, whomever that may be.

My worthless opinion from my Lazyboy:

It's a healthy Assad that gives Iowa the best opportunity to AA the weight.

What was Assads injury last year?

Dunno what the injury was, or if there was one. Just going off of the rumor mill and him not seeing the mat since the HWC Showdown.

I would imagine someone dialed in knows. But then again, they probably wouldn't/shouldn't post the info on this message board if the coaches/Assad didn't feel the need to share it.

He wrestled 92 at Juniors, that's why I was wondering.

And Dean won't be too small for 197. They cut a lot at Cornell.

Thanks. I hadnt heard anything since preseason last year which can be worrisome as a fan. I hope he is healthy and working out for the upcoming year.

No one here ever showed any concern that he already lost his passion for the sport once. Maybe its something to start considering now..

92kg = 202 lbs. Why would that make you think he was small for 197?

He's definitely not in the bigger group of 197. I definitely misspoke when saying he might be too small for 197. I wonder if he's big enough to beat the guys I consider to be the top 4 at the weight. Looking back at his run at NCAAs, it's probably not size that will stop him from being in the top 4.

Jesus... I'm terrible at hitting post reply. Wrote this yesterday.

New rule. You can't post before 9am Central. Gotta give us time to get our morning caffeine fix....😴😴

BTW, I'm still holding out hope that you will some day decide to change tactics and join in worthwhile conversations over here on HR.

Not saying you should stop calling out the really asinine posts and posters(not my style, but I get it), because that ain't happening. But perhaps you could sprinkle in some quality wrestling talk once in awhile with those of us that are discussing wrestling.

And maybe, just maybe let go of some of the stuff that was said years ago....

*Debated on if I should even bother posting this as I had my coffee and breakfast. I have concerns that this thread could quickly turn into a dumpster fire, depending on how this plays out. If it does, my apologies to the OP.

In the end, I decided that if there was even a sliver of a chance to get your buy-in, it would be worth it.

Your choice, obviously, on next steps. I have always enjoyed the perspective of non-Hawkeye fans on HR and sincerely hope you decide give it a try.

Rival fans posting here rarely works especially if that fan speaks truth that you guys dont really want to hear. Your mod here backed up what I'm saying because even too saw this place as being full of thin skinned people not wanting to hear reality. And now here you are, having a problem with what I posted. Why was that so offensive? Are you telling me you had absolutely no concerns when Assad signed on with Iowa? Or are you saying you'd rather not think about it or have it discussed here? I know when he did sign with Iowa, it was a rare case with me of Iowa getting a top recruit with it really not bothering me. Matter of fact, at the time I thought the Brands brothers might not be the best coaching staff for a kid that may not exactly be all in on the sport anymore.

But yeah, I see your point as well. You all want to hear from opposing fans only when we speak about things you want to hear or lay the praise down on your program. I get it...

Btw, you post over on BWI, you give your opinion, both positive and negative when it comes to PSU. I'm asking, have I ever piss and moaned to you there if you said something negative against PSU? Have you and I ever had an argument about anything over there? Ya see, I'm not like the pansies you'll find here. You can say you don't think Joe Lee will ever AA there and I like hearing your opinion whether I agree with it or not. I don't cry because you're an Iowa fan and give honest thoughts and opinions there. I just don't...

I think speaking the truth is pretty far down the list of your problems.

For me, I guess I was a little triggered by questioning his passion. I don't know Abe and pretty sure you don't either, so why would we even speculate on it? I'm not in the know on what you are referencing about him not being all in previously, so there is obviously some disconnect there...
