A good point is being made. If Fran could figure out a way to give himself more scholar-ship level players than his rivals, he would win more. Winning more would mean a raise and contract extension. So if he chose to pay for his kids schooling, in theory it would be a selfish thing because he would benefit himself and his family from a monetary standpoint. Also from a prestige standpoint. I realize not one coach in America understands this concept. I find that revealing, but not too surprising.
