2022 Recruiting (1 Scholarship Left): Jaxon Kohler & Josh Dix VISITED Sep3, Tyler Nickel Sep17. Aidan Shaw VISITED Jun23. Kyle Filipowski to Duke

The original post has been updated. Of the 28 offered, 6 have committed elsewhere.

Iowa offered Camden Heide on July 4, 2019.

New Minny Head Coach Ben Johnson's goal is to keep the Minnesota HS kids in state. He struck out on this one.

Iowa offered Alex Karaban on May 4, 2021.

Alex plays on the Expressions Elite AAU team with Dasonte Bowen (2022 PG Commit), Reed Bailey (2022 PF, who Iowa offered) and Taylor Bowen (2023 prospect Iowa has offered).

He's standing out. And his first official visit went to Northwestern.

How's this for a package deal?? Alex plays on the Expressions Elite AAU team with Dasonte Bowen (2022 PG Commit), Reed Bailey (2022 PF, who Iowa offered) and Taylor Bowen (2023 prospect Iowa has offered).

His stock is rising.

Just how loaded is the state of MN when it comes to D1 talent?

Iowa offered all 6!

A look at the 2022 class:

Camden Heide: The top 2022 player in the state; committed to Purdue.
Eli King: Committed to Iowa State

Trejuan Holloman--uncommitted
Ahjany Lee--uncommitted
Demarion Watson--uncommitted
Prince Aligbe--uncommitted

And how bad has the U of Minnesota done in recruiting the state of Minnesota?

Yeah, I liked everything I saw in Wessler's video. Nice footwork, strong enough to get where he needs to be, keeps the ball high and plays defense. About the only thing he didn't show was an outside jump shot. Of all the "3 star" centers Fran has shown us, this is my guy.

Actually, I have seen where he can hit both the mid range and the 3 point jump shot.

What I like is his overall game. He rebounds and blocks shots defensively.

Offensively, he rebounds, he can drive to the basket, post up, hit the mid range jumper and the 3 pointer.

This video from March shows all of the above.

Love both of these guys. Do we stand a chance?

You are talking Filipowski & Wessler, correct?

If so, I think we have a chance at both. Wessler is probably the more attainable prospect.

Getting them on campus is the next big step. Kyle should be visiting the first weekend of July. Wessler was planning on visiting sometime this fall.

Iowa is keeping an eye on Steven Kramer of Johnston; they were watching him this weekend in Minnesota. Iowa has not offered him yet, however.

Looks like his stock is rising after this weekend's performance.

Update from this weekend:

We have 2 scholarships remaining for the 2022 Class.

Tom Kakert projected on June 8 that ONE OF THE TWO would be going to Josh Dix.

The FINAL SCHOLARSHIP will likely go to a big. Patrick Wessler, a center, plans on visiting this fall.

While everyone is salivating on Kyle Filipowski and Tyler Nickel, don't forget about Ahjany Lee, who Iowa offered on August 3, 2020. Iowa was the 1st school to offer. He has only visited one school so far: Minnesota, Unofficially.

Fran & Kirk
were in Minnesota this weekend to watch Ahjany Lee, Josh Dix and others.

As you can see by his tweet below, Sherman Dillard was on the road watching somebody.

It is unclear if anyone from Iowa was watching Tyler Nickel this weekend. As you can see from the tweet below, Mike Young (Virginia Tech Head Coach), Kevin Keatts (NC State Head Coach) and Assistants from West Virginia and Virginia Tech definitely were.

Fran watched Tyler Nickel after all.

Fran made it
out to the North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association (NCBCA) Live Period Event to watch Tyler Nickel.

Tyler had impressive numbers. He averaged 32 ppg in 4 games, leading East Rock to 4-0 weekend.

NOTE below that North Carolina had 4 coaches watching. Yikes!
