This is a good story about Kyle Filipowski and NIL.

Kyle made it clear that being able to profit off of NIL legislation isn’t one of the focuses of his recruitment.

This is the last week of a Monday night Varsity League.

Last night it was Josh Dix vs 2023 PF Gus Yalden (playing for Kearney NE High School), who Iowa has offered.

June 24, 2021 Update:

With the Filip Rebraca & CJ Fredrick news (he gone) and the commitments of Dasonte Bowen & Riley Mulvey (reclassified to 2021), we currently have 2 scholarships left for the 2022 class.

In Men's basketball, of course, you can have 13 on scholarship.

ONE ADDITIONAL THING TO MONITOR: due to covid-19, 2020-2021 was considered a "free year" by the NCAA, so seniors Luka Garza and Jordan Bohannon could have come back for the 2021-2022 season. So, anyone listed below (with the exception of Filip Rebraca) as JUNIORS AND SENIORS could potentially play/graduate a year later than CURRENTLY expected.

Rebraca said on a June 9, 2021 zoom conference that his plan is to play for two seasons (including 2022-2023), at Iowa.

2022-2023 Roster (11 on Scholarship; 2 scholarships available):

SOPHOMORE: 1 player

Luc Laketa--a 2021 6'6" wing/forward; on May 13, 2021, it was announced he would be joining the roster as a preferred walk on.

Kam Craft to Xavier

I sincerely hope he watches some full videos of Iowa games and see how effectively Fran tailored Iowa's offense to get Garza the ball on the block, in the mid-post (Sikma move), and on the perimeter, as well as in transition hitting him on the block before his defender was set.

Iowa's offense was the most post friendly I've seen since I've been watching college basketball, and it wasn't just feeding him on the block, it was all kinds of touches in different places.

Here are 6 pictures from Kyle's visit. The caption: Flyin' high in the black and gold.

Kind of a Chris Street vibe with this kid.

When I saw this picture of Kyle I immediately thought of this picture of Chris.

And I hope he remembers this:

Patrick Wessler is playing at the Phenom Champion Showcase in Rock Hill, South Carolina this weekend.

Here is a preview:

2022 7’0 Patrick Wessler

Wessler has been one of the biggest risers with his recruitment and it is easy to see why. Seeing this young big man elevate his game on the court can be easily noticeable, as he has improved his footwork, his skill set, his touch, and offensive scoring on the floor, not to mention his impact on the boards and as a rim-protector. Wessler has been adding offers left and right, including ones from Cincinnati, West Virginia, Ohio State, NC State, Iowa, Southern Cal, and several others. After his weekend in Rock Hill though, expect more to join in with his recruitment.
