2022 Recruiting (1 Scholarship Left): Jaxon Kohler & Josh Dix VISITED Sep3, Tyler Nickel Sep17. Aidan Shaw VISITED Jun23. Kyle Filipowski to Duke

Iowa offered Alex Karaban on May 4, 2021.

Alex plays on the Expressions Elite AAU team with Dasonte Bowen (2022 PG Commit), Reed Bailey (2022 PF, who Iowa offered) and Taylor Bowen (2023 prospect Iowa has offered).

He recently visited Penn State and Northwestern.

UNC has now entered the picture.

Kirk Speraw was at the Ridgewood Live Basketball Shootout last weekend to watch 2022 Shooting Guard Jaden Schutt, who Iowa offered on June 17, 2020.

He took an Unofficial Visit to Iowa on June 21, 2021.

Illinois just landed a shooting guard (see below) so Jaden's decision might come down to Michigan State or Iowa.

Watch the highlights here:

Looks like we are still in with some really good players, but if we really want shooters let’s focus in on Schutt, Nickel and Filipowski. If we want athlete’s as top priority, then Shaw, Dix and Wessler. Seriously I’d take any combination, with either group or combination and feel we’d be in great shape.

Not a chance Underwood won’t take him….

I've said this before and I'll say it again....Of all the "3*" big men we are looking at, Wessler is the most impressive
I’d take Flip. That kid has an all around game. It won’t surprise me a bit if he’s a one and done player.

I agree on taking Filipowski but he's probably not a one-and-done.
I agree that he is probably not a one and done. He sounds like an intelligent kid that values education. I do however think that he probably wouldn’t be a 4 year player either. I would love to have him for as long as he would like to stay.

Yea.....I would take Flip in a heartbeat over any other player, not just because of his size and height but his all-around skills - inside and out. Flip can really do it all and I think he fits the roster and the players currently.....sounds like he really enjoyed his visit too so I can dream, he would be a huge pick-up.

Asst Coach Chester Frazier @CoachFrazierILL with a huge roll in bringing the athletic guard to Illinois.

Huge roll of what? Cash? SUV's too hard to trace?

He's a four star and I seriously we're going to pry him away from the big boys that are angling for him.

The all important thing now for McCaffery is he just can't miss on all of these guys that he gets official visits from and we are left with a tier lower. A lot of B1G teams are loading up with 4 stars and above.

If Flip chooses Iowa over Duke, will people still b*tch about Fran not being able to land the high profile recruits?

Yes….Yes they will. They will that he’s the exception and until Fran gets this kind of kid repeatedly he hasn’t shown anything.
According to TOS, Iowa got a new basketball CB; no idea who it is.

Iowa offered Kyle Filipowski well over a year ago, on June 18, 2020.

Puke offered 5 days ago.

And North Carolina? They offered 2 days ago.

Can Iowa pry him away from the East coast and the late to arrive blue bloods?

My take on this:

Filipowski to Duke
Nickel probably Carolina
Dix is cool on Iowa after the visit
Still a chance with Schutt but probably MSU bound (If he sees himself as another JoeW, who knows)
Dix a real possibility but Wake is a heck of a school academically
Wessler is possible only if he visits soon
Bailey in the picture now also, Fran wants a Big in this class!

Kyle Filipowski, we all know about.

Kendall Blue, a SG, and BJ Omot, a 6'8" SF are a couple new names that have popped up. @perryhawk , have you heard these 2 names before?

BJ Omot

Iowa offered Josh Dix on April 21, 2021.

He took an Unofficial Visit on June 8, 2021.

On June 8, 2021 Tom Kakert forecasted Josh to IOWA

Iowa is one of the schools watching him this weekend.

Check this out & Watch:

Iowa offered Tyler Nickel on June 24, 2020.

His team (Team Loaded Virginia) is playing in Birmingham, Alabama this weekend (July 8-11).

He's been on an unofficial to Virginia Tech so far (in June).

Will he visit Iowa? He is trying to set up more visits. Whether or not the visits are official or unofficial depends on who it is and distance from his home.

He is trying to set something up with NC State, North Carolina, Butler, Iowa, West Virginia and LSU

Do we have any shot at landing any of these guys besides Dix?

Yes, for sure. Remember that after Dix, we technically only have one scholarship left and that likely goes to a big (forward or center).

And those bigs?

There's 6 of them:

(1) Patrick Wessler (Offered May 11, 2021): Plans to visit this fall.

(2) Reed Bailey (Offered May 8, 2021): Plays at same High School & on same AAU team as 2022 PG Dasonte Bowen

(3) Alex Karaban (Offered May 4, 2021): Plays on the Expressions Elite AAU team with Dasonte Bowen (2022 PG Commit), Reed Bailey (2022 PF, who Iowa offered) and Taylor Bowen (2023 prospect Iowa has offered).

(4) Tyler Nickel (Offered June 24, 2020): Trying to line up visits.

(5) Kyle Filipowski (Offered June 18, 2020): Visited July 1 and 2.

(6) Aidan Shaw (Offered Oct 25, 2019: Visited June 22-23, 2021

Iowa offered Kyle Filipowski on June 18, 2020.

He is playing this weekend at the Atlantic City Jam Fest. As you can see below, a lot of coaches are there to watch.

This is an example of following your shot!!!

Huge fan of Karabans film, not sure if he’s interested. A more athletic Niang type game IIRC.

Iowa offered Alex Karaban on May 4, 2021.

IOWA coaches are at the Atlantic City Jam Fest watching Alex, who plays on the Expressions Elite AAU team with Dasonte Bowen (2022 PG Commit), Reed Bailey (2022 PF, who Iowa offered) and Taylor Bowen (2023 prospect Iowa has offered).

As you can see, UNC, Michigan, Minnesota, Butler, Indiana, UConn, Virginia Tech, Stanford, DePaul, Northwestern and Vanderbilt are watching him as well.

And he's been impressive.
