2022 Recruiting (1 Scholarship Left): Jaxon Kohler & Josh Dix VISITED Sep3, Tyler Nickel Sep17. Aidan Shaw VISITED Jun23. Kyle Filipowski to Duke

Just who in the holy hell is saying Fran is lazy? You keep saying this, who are the posters stating this???

Fran needs to C-L-O-S-E on kids like Kohler, Dix, Nickel, Shaw. Close, not get them on campus and have them say great things about their visit then go and commit somewhere else. GET A COMMIT TO BECOME A HAWKEYE, not some participation trophy and a "well, he got them to visit!"

The good news, thus far, is that none of the above have committed elsewhere, yet. So there is still time and open slots for Fran.

I told you we had nothing to worry about concerning Josh.

@TomKakert nailed it 3 months ago, on June 8th, when he forecasted Josh to Iowa.

Again, he was part of the 2022 recruiting cycle and then later reclassified to 2021. It is not that difficult and it is not worth arguing over.
Sure it is. You don't seem to mind attacking others if they don't agree with you.

Look up in Rivals our 2022 commits

Do you see Mulvey?

Also by definition of Reclassification constitutes the player changing what class he belongs to.

And now you are attacking me.

Kind of hypocritical, don't you think?

I'm educating you.... not attacking you.

I get what you're trying to convey with including Mulvey in the 2022 class.... you feel the need to bolster what thus far is an incomplete recruiting class.

My suggestion is to let it play out.

Here's the breakdown of the 2022 Recruiting Cycle, where I have been posting updates as as players commit.

Iowa has extended 31 offers for the Class of 2022.

2 have committed to Iowa (Dasonte Bowen and Riley Mulvey, who committed on March 15, 2021 & Reclassified to the 2021 Class on April 10, 2021)

17 Committed Elsewhere

12 are still Undecided

it will be interesting to see how much he plays; do you think Riley redshirts?
I think Riley will be a valuable part of this year’s team. He provides some rebounding and rim protection. Any offense he gives us is a bonus. He didn’t reclassify to redshirt. He is better than people are giving him credit for and will continue to improve. Friends inside the program have told me that Fran is very pleased with his progress.

Now that Josh Dix is on board we have tremendous talent in the future of our backcourt when combined with Bowen and our other guards.

You have to give @TomKakert credit. He projected Josh to Iowa on June 8th and never waivered/changed his mind. That was over 3 months ago. He nailed it.

And now Fran has his PG, his shooting guard and his center (who, of course, ended up reclassifying to 2021).

At the 50:35 mark of the Sep 9 Hawkeye Report Podcast, @TomKakert talks basketball recruiting.

Tom discusses the 3 basketball prospects who were on campus last weekend.

(1) Luka spent an entire practice talking with Jaxon Kohler. Tom said Jaxon "admires Luka to death." Tom said that and the fact that Luka and Jaxon have similar games (below the rim guys) has really helped Iowa.

As has been discussed, Jaxon visits Michigan State this weekend; he will also visit USC. He has not made a decision on his last 2 visits (Oklahoma, Illinois & Kansas are in the mix). Tom said Jaxon will take all 5 of his official visits.

(2) Tom reminds us that Josh Dix is officially visiting Wisconsin this weekend. As Tom said 2 weeks ago in the Aug 26 Hawkeye Report Podcast, the feeling is that it is between Iowa and Wisconsin. Tom said we might see a commitment decision from Josh by the end of the month.

(3) Tom also discusses Cooper Koch (Class of 2024; on an unofficial visit), who was the 3rd basketball visitor last weekend. Tom said Cooper will likely end up being a Top 50 prospect in the country. Tom said that Iowa is a clear favorite for him.

Additional note: on June 25 Tom forecasted Cooper to Iowa.

Lots of good, current info!!

Well, so much for that Josh Dix Pissconsin visit.

Perhaps @EvilMonkeyInTheCloset can posit a theory as to what young Dix might have been thinking 🤔…

I would love to hear Kakert's predictions on Nickel and Shaw. Given he has amazing foresight.

After months of hearing about how well Dix was playing this summer and all the talent he was going to bring to the Hawks, I'm kind of disappointed that when Rivals finally got around to rating him, they gave him 3 stars. Nevertheless, I will be happy if he makes the right choice and joins the Hawkeyes.

And his thoughts on Pissconsin?
Most likely, "Ya know, as a student-athlete scholar, it is incumbent upon me to hold myself to the highest standard possible in regards to sportsmanship and integrity and respect for all who play the game......................................because f*** Wisconsin, that's why."

The Register story on why Josh Dix committed to Iowa is linked at the end of this post.

Technically, last weekend, Iowa only had 2 scholarships available.

This quote from Josh Dix says a lot.

"They had me come visit the first weekend, me and Jaxon Kohler, because they said we’re the top two targets that they want."

I think Aidan Shaw would also be in the final group. I know Iowa only has one scholarship left, but I would be telling Shaw that he’s a take regardless. We’ve three bigs on the roster next year as it is, not counting the Murray’s or Patrick who are tall enough to play as a big.

Fran better do some fast talking quickly. Shaw commits somewhere next weekend and Nickel is scheduled to visit next weekend as well.

Kohler could well take till signing day. I wouldn’t give up on Shaw or Nickel for a chance we will still be in it with Kohler.

Fran apparently told Dix and Kohler on their visits that those two are Iowa’s top targets. Thought that was kind of shocking given Iowa’s existing depth at the 5, how great of a scorer Dix is and, and Shaw would be an awesome take too. I’d personally prefer either Shaw/Nickel to Kohler, but I guess that’s why Fran is running the show
