Both those teams, Michigan, OSU out recruit us to death. What would Iowa look like with some of those players?
Maryland is only marginally better than Iowa at high school recruiting right now--and that's mostly due to the local talent being significantly deeper. Here's the last 5 recruiting classes for Maryland (I'm using 247 ranks since it's significantly easier to look up past classes):
2024: 1 commit, 3-star #125 ranked kid
2023: 4 commits, 4-star #27 ranked (DMV kid), #75, #173 and UR kid.
2022: 2 commits, 3-star #218 + UR kid
2021: 3 commits, 4-star #48 (DMV kid, Reese), #91, UR kid
2020: 4 commits, 4-star #78, #136, 2 UR kids
2019: 6 commits, 3-star #91, #164, #243, 3 UR kids.
5 of the 6 top-100 kids grew up in the DMV area. They definitely get top-100 talent more regularly than Iowa does, but they aren't in the Ohio State, Indiana, MSU, UM tier of recruiting either.
