2024 Recruiting. Orig Post Updated Oct 2nd. 36 Offers So Far (incl. Chris Tadjo & Cooper Koch). 2 Scholarships Available (NOT counting PMac & Tony)

the main DMV target for this class is Caden Diggs, who we have established is unranked by some recruiting services, ranked in the 100-120 range by others and is taking a serious look at Iowa after already taking his sole official visit to them. Iowa watched 100% of his games these past 4 days. Iowa clearly wants him badly. So Fran isn't just going for the home runs in this area. He's also going for the singles and doubles too.

Class of 2024 Caden Diggs & Class of 2025 Eric Reibe (Iowa offered May 4, 2023) are not only AAU teammates (New World on the Adidas circuit) but they also attend the same high school (Bullis High School in Potomac, MD).

We have a great chance in landing Caden Diggs, which can only help in landing Eric Reibe.

As you mentioned, Iowa was watching Caden (and Eric) this past weekend. An Iowa asst coach also watched Bullis HS/Eric/Caden Diggs play on June 24, 2023 during a live period in the DMV area.

Fran knows what he's doing. He's going where the talent is and he's utilizing the connections he/Iowa has to get their foot in the doors. Luckily we have Tristan Spurlock (Director of Player Development w/ DMV connections and ties to the area) helping in those efforts in the DMV area.

the same can be said about IA
Barnes left for UNC
Paige for UNC
Uthoff for Wisconsin although he did come home.

Fran has changed that. for the better. now we will see if their new coach can do the same for Minnesota. it is a matter of time and success.
It's not the same. Minnesota has had and will continue to have way more talented players vs what we have had here. It haunts the Gophers that they continually lose their top instate players elsewhere. Almost like they don't even exist in their own state. We've lost a few over the years, and we also are having to compete against the Clones for guys like Billiew. Overall Fran has done pretty well getting the players he seems to want out in state.

the instate talent keeps improving each year and Fran usually gets the best players to stay home. as for outside the state recruits he does not need to get multiple players from one city or even 1 state. for instance Fran could get these from out of state and it would be a outstanding class
6'7 Diggs from the DMV area
6'8 Koch from Illinois
6'10 Bamgboye from Arizona

with either a 4th commit or 6'4 Perkins returns for his covid year. either way Fran wins.
I was thinking about Ngongba but now that Duke and Kansas are now involved IA just not have the $$$$$ to compete, this is where IA needs a billionaire sugar daddy to help.

Does the state of Minnesota have 50 division 1 players? It's crazy the number of good players up there.

Here's a database of high school prospects by state.

In Minnesota, for the Class of 2024, there are 18 pages worth of players listed. Granted, they are not all "good," high major players....

There are 7 players from Minnesota in the top 200 on 247:
McAndrew
Freitag (Wisconsin commit)
Robison (Wisconsin commit)
Asuma (Minnesota commit)
Chavis
Mekonnen

Iowa offered 6'7 SF & Minnesota native Isaiah Johnson-Arigu on July 8, 2023.

According to TOS, Isaiah has been building a relationship with the Iowa staff over the past year. He's looking at taking an official visit in September.

Iowa's September home football games:
Sep 2: Utah State
Sep 16: Western Michigan
Sep 30: Michigan State

I recently read that he may visit Seton Hall and Oklahoma State before deciding. Hope the CB is right but it is only a 6 of 10 confidence level.

Here is a story from USA Today discussing (1) where things stand with the Class of 2024; (2) the Caden Diggs to Iowa prediction; and (3) our most recent offers.

Those discussed:

(1) TJ Williams--offered July 14

(2) Isaiah Johnson-Arigu--offered July 8

(3) Caden Diggs--offered May 3

(4) Cooper Koch--committed June 23, 2022

Here’s a look at some of Isaiah Johnson-Arigu's extended highlights from his sophomore season with Osseo High School.

Nice to see a player with a more complete set of highlights, not just shooting the same shot over and over. Doesn't look like a wow athlete, but has a very complete game for a young kid. He already has a variety of shots, inside and out, ball handling, uses both hands, good court vision, and he even plays defense. Pretty impressive for only a 3 star.

The amount of talent the state of Minnesota keeps pumping out is impressive

I don't understand how a student can simply decide in the middle of the summer before his senior year that he's going to up and call himself a graduate.

I did as soon as Duke and Kansas were visits.
If we EVER want to be considered more than an afterthought program, we need to win a few of these battles. Instead, just keep looking forward to 15 losses per year and never being a part of the Sweet 16! This is why we have been and will continue to be a garbage program.
