2024 Recruiting. Orig Post Updated Oct 2nd. 36 Offers So Far (incl. Chris Tadjo & Cooper Koch). 2 Scholarships Available (NOT counting PMac & Tony)

Great find.

Man, would Bryson be a good get.

Iowa is the spot for you, Bryson. Freedom, pace, and space for days. All of your all-around game will be utilized, showcased, and developed

The way I look at it is does he want to be a star amongst stars (at Duke or another blue blood) or THE STAR at Iowa?

And when Fran's offense makes you a star, look what happens (Luka, Keegan & Kris).

I just worry about the NIL money; Iowa currently does not have the deals to offer that other basketball schools do.

Also note that he is the #11 overall recruit in the country according to Rivals. His offer list includes Duke, Indiana, Michigan State, Maryland, LSU, Illinois, Villanova, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Penn State and Georgetown.

First things first, though; gotta get him to visit.

Starting to wonder if the coaches aren't getting a strong vibe about Diggs. Fran continues to work hard to fill out this class and has offered several SF types. Something might break loose by the end of September with numerous visits upcoming.

Saw where On3 is predicting Diggs to Old Dominion over the Hawks.
That is just their crappy algorithm--not an actual prediction. OD jumped in percentage because he recently took a visit there--that algorithm heavily favorites the team with the most recent visit.
I'd highly recommend fans ignore those algorithm percentages and those "NIL estimations". They are usually way off and again, are all determined by a computer that does not seem to have enough data to make accurate estimations. It's a very bad A.I. I don't even think the Hawkeye Report folks over there utilize it.

Thanks for the clarification HH80. I visit multiple Hawk sites to get information and that struck me as odd since I have seen several crystal balls to Iowa. Crystal Balls are deceiving though. If someone predicts with an 8 confidence level, I feel better than with a 6. A five means 50% chance which means nothing to me.

Caden's tape looks very good - he is long, athletic and quick off the floor. Looks alot like Keegan and Kris, maybe a bit more advanced at this point in his career than the Murray's but man did they work hard to get better.

Thought I read Williams has moved his to the 28th. To go along with Compton
It is the 30th. That date was an early date posted. I question whether Williams or Compton will visit. They have several visits before they come to Iowa.

Compton yes. Williams no. Williams only has 3 visits. Already visited Wichita State and then Iowa on 30th. Indiana State is his only other listed visit.

Doesn't look like Caden will get an offer from the Hawks. He reminds me alot of Kevin Boyle, a do everything type of player.
Looks more like Wade Lookingbill than Kevin Boyle to me. If he were a couple inches taller he’d probably be a solid recruit. If I were Fran I might offer him the chance to walk on with a scholarship guarantee later on.

Pharaoh Compton has only taken one official visit — San Diego State. He’s scheduled three more:

* Tennessee on September 23
* Iowa on September 30
* LSU on October 14

He unofficially visited UNLV earlier this year.

Here are his thoughts on his Top 5:

Iowa: “The Iowa Hawkeyes aren’t new when it comes to producing NBA level players year in and year out. Their NBA background includes lots of forwards who have succeeded at that next level which is important because that’s where I want to go. Also with the way Coach (Courtney) Eldridge continuously compares me and thinks I can be those guys who have came through the university is something I honestly see myself in that position as well.”

LSU: “The Tigers have been ever present since they offered me July of last year. There’s always been a coach in contact. If it isn’t, Coach (Ronnie) Hamilton is giving me a call or Coach (Cody) Toppert is sending me some game film. I felt like someone has always keep that contact with me and reassured me that I am wanted at LSU and they make that known pretty frequently. I just think it’s so important how the coaches constantly check in with me a lot. Also the blood runs deep when it comes to LSU Basketball they’re familiar with having pros in the program.”

San Diego State: “With the Aztecs coming off an amazing season, it just starts with Coach (JayDee) Luster being that guy from day one who kept it real with me and how he sees me fitting in at SDSU. Or even how they will help with my development and training is huge. You need to be somewhere they really want you and want to help you get better. From the start of the summer head, Coach (Brian) Dutcher being at every game he can possibly be at and always keeping in contact with my mother or even my coaches is different. That isn’t something you see out of a lot of head coaches it shows how much they really care for you.”

Tennessee: “The Volunteers are such a well structured and coached program. Over the years I have always taken notice to their success and culture they have been building up, and in college that’s what matters a lot. That’s something that not every program has and Coach (Rick) Barnes and his staff have over there at UT. Also the love that the entire state shows for the school is just amazing that’s a great environment to be around, especially for college and being away from home.

UNLV: “The university closest to me of course. They were the 4th school to offer me and (Kevin) Kruger and his entire staff have stayed on me since. Even if it’s a Strive For Greatness game my 16s year up until the Peach Jam championship, someone has always been there and been in contact with me. They always say I can come watch practice and I’m welcome over there whenever. They’re constantly calling and checking and even though I’m down the road but that’s really important to me.”

Scouting Report

“Pharaoh Compton is a strong, active player. He is the type who enjoys doing the tough guy stuff, the rebounding, the defending, the screening. Offensively, his game extends to about ten feet, but if he gets it in those ten feet, he tries to dunk everything. Compton has good hands and really tracks the ball at a high level on the boards. There is no fear in his game. Despite being undersized, he is a good post defender. He moves well. He is explosive. Activity and toughness are his game.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw

Really interesting prospect, who isn't like most recruits Iowa has pursued under Fran. We have been missing physicality around the basket.

competition is pretty stiff for his services

what do you think about the reports that Dembele is rebounding everything in practice? That gives me some hope!
Dembele has an outside shot from what I have heard. Compton wants to flush anything he touches. Sounds like the Hawks are a definite underdog for his commitment.

Diggs looks like a possible very nice addition.

It might be just a coincidence, but the timing of Diggs announcing he’s ready to make a decision right after Johnson-Arigu’s visit is interesting.

Makes me wonder if the staff told Johnson-Arigu it was down to him and Diggs for the scholarship and that if Johnson-Arigu didn’t commit this weekend, they were going to take a commitment from Diggs instead.

Pure speculation on my part.

I was thinking the same thing. Hope you are right. Didn't see where he visited Okie State or Seton Hall
