*** #21 Iowa vs #6 Michigan WBB Game ***

If only Bluder could convince some of the better/best girls in the HS ranks to not be gullible teens and be swayed/recruited away from going to Iowa to help Iowa be a power program while Clark is here as opposed to feeding all the top programs on an annual basis so they can stay on top......................

If only....

Is there such a thing as a good loss? Because WOW we fought back HARD
I think if it teaches the team to play with the level of intensity they displayed late then yes. I feel really good about next year with or without Monika. This would have been a very different game if we were healthy. If we can get everyone we started the season with back by the end of the month I think we win in Carver.

We have a great class coming in. Just need to add a PG via the portal to back up Clark.

Is it a Covid thing for the women’s teams to not shake hands or do they never do that? Admittedly, I’ve only watched 2 games til the end, but the game against OSU they didn’t either, although I thought maybe that was was just due to the bad blood.

Being this shorthanded, I am impressed with the result. A loss is a loss- but this should be an encouraging experience for the team going forward. Frankly, I am surprised that Michigan seemed SO happy beating an Iowa team this shorthanded.

In addition to the great effort from Syd tonight, I would have liked to get Addy more minutes tonight instead of riding with Monika while she was in foul trouble. Monika is stellar when the other team doesn't have an offensively skilled center who we also have to keep off the glass. But Monika just didn't have the defense or the rebounding that we needed tonight. As Gabe points out every chance he gets (lol :) ), this is where Sharon was so clutch last year against Michigan. Addy wasn't getting beat that badly. Would've like to see if she could have helped keep it closer before it was too late.

10 seconds. Didn't get it across the timeline in time.
False. It was the fact that Kate hadn't established herself in the frontcourt before Kylie passed it to her. Kate was jumping midair from the backcourt to the front court as she caught the pass. Her feet would have needed to be down and established in the front court before she caught the pass.

I mean, I get it. A win is a win, and it was a pretty decisive win until Clark's heroics at the end. So credit to them. KBA is really maximizing the potential of her roster. I really hope Michigan makes a postseason run on behalf of the B1G conference. And I hope we're right there with them, too, obviously. :D

It's a shame we weren't healthy for this game. Glad we played hard though. I have no doubt we'll keep on grinding.

I can't help that I like Sharon's game. She is incredibly underrated and an Iowa girl. Watching her last season I saw Jamie Cavey. I predicted Cavey would be an all-Big center before she graduated during her sophomore season. Most everyone laughed at the prediction at the time. I feel just as strongly that Sharon will be an all-Big center before she graduates.

It's almost inconceivable that our starting 5 played 26 minutes and grabbed 1 rebound.

Huge credit to Czinano for her offense. I didn't think it would be possible to see someone shoot in the low post like Megan Gustafson and she's actually really close. But her defense and rebounding is terrible, and in games like this it actively killed the team. What made Megan so special was that she was also one of the best rebounders in the country and played solid defense too.

If only Feuerbach and Martin could make their layups...

Seriously, I think Affolter should start. Feuerbach can't dribble. When she has the ball, Iowa's offense slows down because after every three bounces she has to reel the ball in so that it doesn't fly away from her.

Rant over. Great effort everybody. If there's ever an encouraging loss this is it. I'm sure the Michigan fans are still in awe. I heard after the game Clark was busy signing autographs for Michigan fans again.
