Not to make excuses but let's keep in mind that Kerk wasn't healthy and couldn't train much, if at all, (i.e., be coached to his fullest potential) during the 20-21 season. Kerk had total of 2 matches (in one day) before the B1G Tournament due to life threatening blood clots and a staph infection.
TRUE Kerk got a bit Carvered and beat soundly in the 21-22 Iowa dual. But he was a brainfart away--in combination with Big Tony's heart--from winning the last SV loss. Nevertheless, training-wise the prior season was a bust.
