B.J. Mack

Will you elaborate on this please?

You're comment indicates our NIL is structured such that it renders us non-competitive. Beyond just sheer dollars. Sincere question as I'm curious what the thought is.
We are pooling our dollars that are then split up amongst several teams. I think most of these other programs are just finding rich alumni to pay the kids whatever it takes for them to commit. For instance, It’s like the billionaire that’s associated with Miami.

And that's falling apart quickly and simply isn't sustainable. I think our model sets us up much better for the future, in the absence of a billionaire that doesn't care about wasting millions of dollars on college kids

Like the donor for Miami that pulled out from the13 million for the 4 star qb. But that was after a 5 star committed for the next year. Shady as heck. Iowa breaks up into football, men and women's basketball with a base for all players. They originally were paying all players the same but since November that policy has changed.

Does Iowa have billionaire alums to tap?
Billionaires tend to be on the coasts or in Texas.
Any Iowa grad hedge fund owners?
Or oil barons?
Maybe kum & Go guy is now flush with the sale to maverick?

I suspect that Iowa is at the bottom of the BIG in terms of billionaire grads...cept maybe Neb.

Everyone start playing the lottery, quick!!!

Bigger donors can also designate a sport. There are also 2 different aspects of the Swarm.

Nebraska Cornhusker alum Warren Buffet probably moves Debbie a little higher on the list than you are giving them credit for.

Should the U of I even be involved in N.I.L. payments? Murky legal and tax issues.

Would it matter if everyone else is paying their players and Iowa doesn't?

Are you seriously asking this?

Iowa just got the top scorer from the valley.
On paper it looks good but with the way the team is coached I don't think it'll make a difference.

Iowa will be fine for now in the NIL NWO ...their NIL funds will be competitive enough. They will still pull the same level of recruits in their respective sports.

Iowa is part of the B1G, the exposure/facilities/media-interest/etc will keep all the programs relevant to traditional 3-star and some 4-stars.

If Iowa starts losing out consistantly to historically non-elite programs due to under-funded NIL, then we can start bitching.

Do you think it would make a difference if Iowa didn't even have a NIL fund? I don't think it'd make that much difference with the lack of success we've had with transfers.
Should the school even be involved in N.I.L. ?

He will not end up at Iowa and this will be our roster with Brauns an additional player
AAAAAAAAANNNDDDD Mack just picked up a crystal ball to South Carolina. Another swing and a miss.

Krikke pretty much just replaces Rebraca, so his addition is a net neutral. We didn't get a rim protector or defensive guard. Fran didn't improve on any of our weaknesses in the Portal.

Probably safe to say this was yet another disappointing season in the portal.

Not surprising given FM history in portal.

What a bunch of whiny little crybabies on this board.

Transfer season isn’t even over yet, you imbecile.

Yet another way that Iowa's small size and lack of a billionaire class will simply kill us in the long run. Not many billion dollar tech businesses in Iowa, oil men or IT genius class.

We need to send the 100 hottest girls in the school to Elon Musk's house. A billion a year and it's a lifetime supply of 18-22 y/os straight from the Heartland so no LA professional skanks.

I know, I had this in my post initially and deleted it.

If we land Mack I have the same feeling that hes going to waste the first month of the season doing this.

Perkins and Peyton are no where near a good enough ballhandlers to make that work.

Totally agree Patrick should come off the bench but he's going to play big minutes at the 3 no matter what. Thats just a given and Jack will take over for him the following year.
Not unless Pat stays for his covid year......

No they shouldn't but there has,to be ago between to let the nil figure be warranted and wanted by the coach. Pretty gray area and not really the iowa way.

I could see Fran moving Payton to the starting lineup too, as the sg because Patrick will start at the 3 and play 25 mpg.

Jack will come to Iowa and be a starter by no latter than his second season because that's how this deal works.
it wouldn't be the first or last time he played someone out of position.

However, I’ve heard/read that Warren Buffet isn’t a big sports fan, so apparently not a big donor for the fuskers?

Can someone describe the player named Dembali (apologies for any mistakes, I've only seek him once, briefly.)

Thanks in advance.

I've watched numerous games this past season of St. Benedict's prep. He will be a freshman Reggie Evans, if you're old enough to remember him back in the early 2000's, he was a dominating rebounding machine.
Reggie came to Iowa as a junior and played 2 years before graduating and hopefully Ladji Dembele will end up one day as dominate as Evans was.
Dembele has the physical attributes of Evans at 6-9 250bs, but coming from high school it will take him some time to develop the aggressiveness he will need at the college level. He already is offensively better then Reggie or as Tyler Cook was, as Dembele can occasionally hit the 3 pointer and has a decent short range game. I suspect that his timidness at the high school level was due to how the games were refereed as he usually became somewhat more dominate in the second half of his games. I honestly believe that this kid has no limits and he could become a starter before the Big Ten season begins, but that is only my opinion. Tyler Cook is close in athlete ability and we shall see at some point which player will be the better of the two in the end. I'm putting my chips on Dembele....

Where did you find the games? I've found a few youtube highlight videos but that's it. From what I've seen, he has a nice frame (good lower body already) and a nice shooting touch. He looks comfortable and confident shooting 3s. He doesn't look nearly as explosive as Cook.

Yeah it's interesting he's probably the least talked about kid in the class from the Iowa beat writers, but he's probably the guy who I'm most excited about and may be day 1 ready. I get why the 3 local guys get discussed more, but man is he maybe the least talked about 4-star (according to 1 recruiting service) commit ever.

R we out of the picture for BJ Mack then
Before his final visit to his home state U of South Carolina had hardly started, a homer from SC gave a premature 100% prediction on 247 that he would choose them. That is still very possible, but the Mack family apparently wasn't sure of a decision when the SC visit ended yesterday. Mack's recruiting has been incredibly quiet during his visits, so it is anyone's guess where he will choose. He would sure look good in a Hawk uni next year.

Mack has been very deliberate during this entire process,.. I suspect that this post visits cooling off period was always part of the plan,.. Very mature approach to what can easily turn into a clown show..

Good luck with your decision Mr. Mack.
