B.J. Mack

Where did you find the games? I've found a few youtube highlight videos but that's it. From what I've seen, he has a nice frame (good lower body already) and a nice shooting touch. He looks comfortable and confident shooting 3s. He doesn't look nearly as explosive as Cook.
NFHS....National Federation of State High School Associations. A subscription service you can watch high school sports on line for 10 dollars a month.
In years past Moline high school had their home games televised, but this year under a new athletic director, he decided not to have their home game broadcast live or on demand. That was too bad because they were dyn o mite! Winning their 1st ever state championship. Still most of their away games were available to see live or on demand.
Waukee North high school (Pryce Sandford) and Peoria Notre Dame high school games (Cooper Koch) were also only available to view on some of their away games.
It was still worth it to pay the 10 bucks....Cooper Koch is going to be one smooooooth shooter from 3. He's going to be really good as a stretch 4.

Should the school even be involved in N.I.L. ?
Technically they're not, the coaches will guide the NIL collective as far as their specific recruiting or portal priority targets, but no money from the university can fund NIL agreements with players. That keeps the NIL collective from wasting their time on athletes that the Iowa programs have little or no interest in.

Would be great for the Hawkeyes to get Mack to sign on, but my reasoning is that in that case all four freshmen would not be counted on for any significant minutes this year. A year to play together in Practice and some preseason games, get stronger, learn system add in Nimmers and the following year they’ll be ready for the B1G. Looking for a good run by this freshman group

A growing season would not that bad of a thing. The downsides are that it could lead to a bad won/ loss record and that once the young players develop, they could hit the portal.

You are correct it could but adding BJ Mack I think certainly minimizes the possibility of a bad win/ loss record. Time will tell of course

Yeah it's interesting he's probably the least talked about kid in the class from the Iowa beat writers, but he's probably the guy who I'm most excited about and may be day 1 ready. I get why the 3 local guys get discussed more, but man is he maybe the least talked about 4-star (according to 1 recruiting service) commit ever.
The incoming class has four really promising recruits, all bringing something different to the team. Add a shooting guard, maybe Nimmers, and this could become a pretty salty lineup. It would be hard to rate them in order of preference.

Dude I thought I was hardcore scrounging around for clips on Youtube. I might buy this next year.

Good for him, he is making a life decision. It is more than basketball, most college players don't make the NBA. He has his degree from Wofford, a very good school, what is his next step? Masters degree?

Best of luck to BJ, wherever he chooses.

he has till Monday to announce.

will put this before he makes his pick
my 2 deeps
1 SO 6'3 Bowen FR 6'0 Harding
2 SR 6'4 Perkins SO 6'6 Dix
3 SR 6'9 P Mac top 100 4* by Rivals, 247 and ESPN. JR 6'7 Payton Sanford
4 FR 6'9 250 lbs Dembele 4* by Rivals backupto be named
5 JR 7'0 245 lbs Mulvey FR 6'11 Freeman 4* by ESPN
off the bench
6'7 Price Sanford Top 100 4* by Rivals, 247 and ESPN
Fran is adding 3 4*'s this fall.

Mulvey reminds me of Olaseni and how he improved. as for Freeman, Nunge started as a true FR as did Aaron White, Basabe followed Fran from Seina and started as a FR.
Fran has had multiple FR start for him and be very impressive.

forgot Krikke. but my thoughts on him is that he will be another Uthoff being a stretch 4.

people forget how many players that have developed late under Fran. the most notable was Olaseni who had his best season his SR year. before somebody brings up the RS, every player is given that option. but it is up to the players to make that decision not the coaches.

the last player where the coach made the player RS'd was Sommerville and he left after the year was over, the coach was SA.

Yeah, more likely then not. "Ladji Dembele" not hard to spell....
I’d be happy if he just got Sandfort correct.

Back to the subject. What would Mack add to the team? More depth, an additional skill set?

Mack would be way more than depth. He would likely become one of the two primary options on offense. From the tapes, he likes to use his big butt to get interior shots, and he is a pretty good spot up shooter. Mack and Krikke are likely to start IMO, but we still need some of the other big guys to give us important minutes, especially on the defensive end.

Iowa will be fine for now in the NIL NWO ...their NIL funds will be competitive enough. They will still pull the same level of recruits in their respective sports.

Iowa is part of the B1G, the exposure/facilities/media-interest/etc will keep all the programs relevant to traditional 3-star and some 4-stars.

If Iowa starts losing out consistantly to historically non-elite programs due to under-funded NIL, then we can start bitching.
That's all well and good, but keeping the recruiting status quo, even with NIL, was not what I was hoping for. Maybe I had unrealistic expectations.

It's been a couple days ...just say'n.
Seriously though, what’s the holdup?

Sit down with your parents and closest confidants, have a big sheet of paper taped to the wall with Pros and Cons written at the top and your three schools down the left hand side.

Start filling it out.

Once your done eliminate the two who have the most cons and least pros.

Call the coach at the school with the most pros and least cons and give him the good news.

Post your decision to social media.

Easy peezy.

It was reported South Carolina as Iowa swings and misses again in the portal. There is something radically wrong with Iowa coach's (MBBall, WBBall, Football, and wrestling) approach to recruiting portal players (I know Ferentz one-off this year). They appear to strike out on any players that actually could impact the team in a significant way. But yet, the rest of the BIG seems to be able to sign those type players fairly regularly. Iowa is being left in the dust via the portal/recruiting. JMO
