B1G Session 4 (Finals) PBP / Comments

As a casual wrestling observer that is 7 minutes of boring television.

The NCAA needs to figure something out because crap like that isn't drawing any fans.

It used to be that if you rode parallel you got called for stalling. Now stalemate. Smh.
 
This is turning into the most boring sport to watch. When they start to review if it was a stalling warning or not?! F$&cking wow.

It's hard to win ncaa championships if your team doesn't contain any individual champions. Only happened for us twice, 1978 and 2008 I believe. Don't like those odds.
 
I am going to step away. There should be a Hawkeye Break until Evans, Brooks, etc. WWDM is planning on watching, so PBP is available for the next man (woman) in.

He did win The Midlands as a RSFrosh...beating the NCAA Champ in the process. I guess we forget that since it doesn't fit a agenda.

So losing a match because OSU stalled his arse off for 2 periods means Gilman can't win a big match?

I fall in the same boat. I don't know much about wrestling and I know the championships you got stud goings against stud, but there is just not a lot of action.

What crap. T Shirt had a blanket ride and a leg hold ride and got away with it for over 45 seconds.
I am floor level and can tell you work was being done.
We lost 2 finals because refs have no balls at all.
 
Hey as long as it keeps Iowa from winning, they're gonna continue to let that stuff go on in the sport of wrestling. True story.

And as long as our wrestlers keep letting it happen, it's going to continue. Deal with it, maybe?......
 
Sorensen didn't take a single shot until 8 seconds left in the match. I don't understand how Brands as coaches can't get these guys to shoot. Even Burak against Snyder. Go back and watch the last minute of that match. Burak didn't shoot at all until 8 seconds left. Makes my blood boil
 
Dtripp, so with that thought process no one should be down on Nick Moores regular season. He did well last year

If there is no stalling being called...it is easy to keep a guy down.
 
It doesn't benefit you to go balls to the wall if people are allowed to back-up and constantly block you off with no consequence. You're just going to get tired with no stall calls going your way. It is pathetically obvious that everything comes down to the refs making guys wrestle and they just refuse to do it.

We lost because we have no offense.
 
You know I absolutely love to watch wrestling but this blatant stalling is making it almost impossible to enjoy any more. What T-shirt did in that match is about as bad as Tom running in his match. Just lay on your opponent and watch the clock. Just sickening.

He has offense. Tsirtsis has kept a lot of very good wrestlers scoreless over the last two years

I'm not saying he wasn't working. Doesn't change the fact we struggle to get out as a team....and it has cost us some matches, or at least an opportunity.

If a guy is aloud to lay on the hips for a long time without being hit or told to move....you cant do much.
Sorenson does not have an issue getting out. 2 matches where it came into play. 1st he was pushed out 7 times with no call and now this.
 
Maybe our guys should be going all out to get the lead and then other teams could bitch about us stalling. Shots would be nice. Just sayin.

He had zero takedowns in semi finals. Where was his offense then? We struggle on the bottom. If we dont start changing something ourselves and getting aggressive early in matches the odds are against us.
 
So my new favorite wrestler is Martinez from Illinois. So sound in every position.

So Gillman didn't take any shots, or was going all out??? I will give you Sorensen but this crap has been going on all year. Hard to get a takedown when the opponent is dancing on edge of the cirlce, so any chance you get to get a takedown is out of bounds. Outside of the 141 wrestler for Missouri, they did the same thing in a lot of their matches.
 
Give Ness credited too. At least he tried to do something instead of taking half shots the whole match. That was fun to watch.
