Ben Kueter

Correct. However, I don't see world class ability in BK that everyone saw in Steveson.
Freestlye/Folkstyle are different games, different grinds over a college season. This was BK's first full year where he only focused on folkstlye wrestling. Prior to that he was doing Freestyle, football, baseball, track.

He needs more folkstyle time and a bit more strength and confidence and he will be right there - hard to say if he will get enough mat time with football still going

He sure doesn't look like it right now, he does have a world gold and silver in FS.
Age level.
Gable is an anamoly. Let it clear out this year and see what happens.
I definitely see your point though.

I am not sure what Keuter's plans are going forward. If he becomes a part-time wrestler from here on out, I think that's going to stunt his growth.

Oh this Is complete bs. The guys been wrestling folkstyle his entire life. You act like he’s the fresh out of the boat Japanese kid from Okie St. that Ayala wrestled. He’s had two years in the program. Stop the excuses.

I would love to see Ben full time. I think he knows he is losing to three dudes. Kerk gable and Wyatt. He goes in knowing this IMO and his wrestling shows it. This weight clears out. I like his odds at a title next year if he stays.

At this point his losses are getting ugly and it’s concerning that those will affect his decision on which way he goes. Hopefully he wrestles as I’m not sure he’s that dude for football. I believe he can be that dude in wrestling

Most people think gaining 10-15 pounds is all Ben needs to do to be right there next year with anyone. He also needs to continue to get better at wrestling. I also think he's not nearly as explosive as he used to be down at 220. The additional 15 pounds he's gained has slowed him down which I think is concerning to a lot of Hawk fans. When Kyle Snyder was wrestling heavy at 225-230 he was cat quick and was getting to everyone's legs. BK is not. If he can beat Feldman today, not at home but at a neutral site, it'll be another step in the right direction.

Fair assessment.

Yeah Ben just doesn't measure up to guys that won Olympic Gold metals before they graduated college.

Kueter could use another 11 lbs of muscle. He gets manhandled by the bigger guys. He needs to decide on one sport and spend the off season getting bigger. Kueter’s biggest problem is that he likely doesn’t want to get too much bigger for freestyle purposes.
Worrying about freestyle? That’s silly.

He's had just under 14 months in the program. Big difference between 14 months and 24 months when discussing a freshman heavyweight.

Still more excuses. I guess only time will tell. Not sure how you can watch him get decimated on the mat and still be so confident.

And for more factual perspective. A typical kid in his class shows up late summer in wrestling shape. Ben was probably in wrestling shape mid to late February. 7 or 8 months behind his class. He's an underclassmen wrestling in a upper classmen dominated weight.

I don't know what his future plans are. I don't know if he knows. Right now I believe he's still planning on doing both. That's a decision to be made after the season with both sets of coaches.

Confident in what? You're the one who wrongly said he's been here 2 years. How stupid are you is the next appropriate question?

Who should you believe, me or your own eyes?
What're you trying to prove other than your significant level of brain damage?

Obviously Ben isn't there yet but he's on a very similar trajectory as the guy pinning him and as Mason Parris. Both took their licks as undersized freshmen and turned into monsters.

Hope the HWC can get a big buy on board this year. Lots of talent out there, and I think Ben would benefit greatly if this happens. Such a loaded weight this year, and it's another example of why I can be just amazed at how talented some of these guys are. Have a guy that hardly broke a sweat in HS, has had a lot of success on the international level, and then he moves into DI and quickly learns that he has a lot of work to do in order to be the best. I think Ben will have a lot of success in the coming years. I believe a title is viable if he commits to wrestling full-time. If he doesn't, I still think it is possible, or at a minimum get an AA for multiple years. Hell, maybe even this year.

Ben is a hell of an athlete, I'm glad he is a Hawk, and I look forward to seeing how his career pans out.

I remember Cass taking it to Kerk as a redshirt freshman more than once. After they physically transformed him in the off season, Cass was never close again. How many guys ranked above Ben this year are as young or younger than Ben?

But there's no high level guys(coach) in the room or the HWC to push him.

Who cares?

I do agree that losing Cass to work with him really sucks Ben has a crazy frame. Way bigger than most heavyweights even.

It's my opinion that all he needs is to get bigger, and his length and athleticism will outshine any wrestling issues.

For you wresting experts

When did they eliminate the weight class between 197 and 285 in college. At least I believe there was a class there.

Just seems Ben Kueter is stuck at a bad weight. Not small enough for 197 or too small for 285. Can he get down to 197 and give up football.
Seems like a waste of talent for both sports.
He’s not stuck at a bad weight. He’s so tall that he could be the biggest HW if he tried and football decided he needed to go to d end of TE. At his height he’s looks small but the frame is there. During the Iowa vs psu match they showed that he only weighed in ten pounds less than Kerk who everyone thinks is huge. For being the “small guy” ,and a dual sport athlete, he’s out quicked a lot which has surprised me. ÝThe weight really opens up next year for him to be an AA but is he going to wrestle full time next year? If not then Iowa should go qafter the Campbelle
kid.

Looks like he’s lost some of his confidenc
