Ben Kueter

Who cares?

I do agree that losing Cass to work with him really sucks Ben has a crazy frame. Way bigger than most heavyweights even.

It's my opinion that all he needs is to get bigger, and his length and athleticism will outshine any wrestling issues.

Cass is decidedly not the HWT you want working with him in the room from a size standpoint. And that’s even before he dropped all the weight for FS a year ago.

He’s not stuck at a bad weight. He’s so tall that he could be the biggest HW if he tried and football decided he needed to go to d end of TE. At his height he’s looks small but the frame is there. During the Iowa vs psu match they showed that he only weighed in ten pounds less than Kerk who everyone thinks is huge. For being the “small guy” ,and a dual sport athlete, he’s out quicked a lot which has surprised me. ÝThe weight really opens up next year for him to be an AA but is he going to wrestle full time next year? If not then Iowa should go qafter the Campbelle
kid.

Looks like he’s lost some of his confidenc
He’s gained like 15-20lbs since getting on campus I think that’s trying. He shown he can beat anybody outside the top 3.

saw Cass at the lee vs ono match. He has slimmed way down, can’t be much over 200 anymore

This is the top 16 at heavyweight (minus Kueter). As has been discussed, the weight class is clearing out. What may be missed is the fact that of the 15 other people in the top 16, only 5 outside of Kueter would even be wrestling in college this year if not for the Covid eligibility waiver…only 3 would be ranked ahead of him and he’s beaten one of those three twice.

Kerkvliet-5th year
Steveson-5th year
Hendrickson-5th year
Trumble-4th year
Schultz-5th year
Feldman-2nd year
Mullen-1st year
Trephan-5th year
Heindeslman-5th year
Slavikouski-5th year
Huffman-5th year
Nevills-5th year
Colbert-1st year
Runyon-4th year
Bullock-5th year

If not for the Covid exception, the only loss Kueter has on the year is Yonger Bastida and we are talking about him as a top 3-4 seed and potentially winning nationals. Dude has spent the season wrestling a bunch of 24 year olds that have more experience and physical maturity than he does.

Kueter will be fine next year.

Better than what we have now is my main point, not saying there aren't plenty of better options out there.

Lol take a look at the guy and tell me where he’s going to lose 35 lbs from.

People talk about him like he’s terrible. Those people have zero perspective. He’s a top 12-15 ranked HWT and over 10 of the guys in front of him are gone after this season. He put on 10-15 lbs of muscle in the last 12 months, he will do it again next year, and be better yet.
They will be gone after this year but the top ones should have been gone already. I can’t wait until next year when all the haters have to eat crow

Yeah and nobody knows exactly how old Batista or any of the Cubans actually are 😂

He will AA

He's had just under 14 months in the program. Big difference between 14 months and 24 months when discussing a freshman heavyweight.
I think the big difference is people are expecting him to come in like a lot of other good freshmen recruits at much lighter weights and immediately compete. I think the size and strength difference are both big factors right now.

He is older than most guys, but I assume Batista is at least a year older than what people think he is. I think he’s listed as being 25, but I bet he’s 26 and maybe older than that.

The other factor to consider is if he doesn't wrestle until after a potential bowl game.
That's two months of no wresting practice.
I don’t think he’ll have to worry about a bowl game next year unless they are bringing in some big time players with nil. Hope I’m wrong.

What is a realistic seed for BK?
Obviously top 3 are spoken for.
Would Schultz be considered #4? Anyone else from acc or smaller conference that could be ahead of BK?

The Campbell kid entered as “so not contact” so he’s already picked his home.

It’s more than that according to his mom. It’s like 25.

Just looked at the backside bracket again. That was a damn good run by Ben to get third.
Very impressive, kept his confidence and gutted it out!
He still needs to figure out more offense, but I think the confidence this (hopefully) gave him could be huge moving forward.

How is a guy 5’8” and maybe 220 lbs a lot better than we have now?
If I need to explain to you that Tony's credentials far surpass anybody we currently have on roster/staff at the upper weights then idk what to tell you.

He's light but he had man strength, he would've gave Ben plenty to learn.

I was within 5 feet several times this weekend of both Jacob Warner and Tony this weekend and I would suggest Warner is the bigger guy at this point. Big Tony is small these days.

Ben needs to be rolling with big bodies not little fellas like Tony, who I was a huge fan of.

Tony was a big loss regardless of his size. He had a wide gap over Ben, and who's to say he wouldn't have been asked to stay 220s or 230s while I'm the club. His weight at Wisconsin has no bearing on the discussion. Even at this weight he would likely be a top 6 guy.
