Your list is probably close to what the media will predict. Wisconsin will be unanimous pre-season pick. Northwestern may be tabbed as #2 ahead of Iowa. Wildcats get Michigan State, Michigan and Rutgers as crossovers. The game at Purdue on 8/30 is a huge one for both teams. At Iowa, at MSU, at Minnesota at RUtgers, at Purdue are conference roadies. Could see them anywhere from 7-5 to 10-2.

I would say that this is pry a pretty good guess.

1. Wisconsin - 8-1 / Loss at Penn St.
2. Iowa - 7-2 / Losses to WIS at home and at PSU
3. NW - 5-4 / Losses to NEB, at MSU, WIS, at Iowa
4. NEB - 4-5/ Losses at MICH, at WIS, at OSU, MSU, at Iowa
5. PUR - 4-5 / Losses at NEB, OSU, at MSU, Iowa, WIS
6. MINN - 3-6 / Losses to Iowa, at OSU, at NEB, PUR, NW, at WIS
7. Illinois - 0-9 / Losses to everyone
Full disclosure here I'm a Nebby homer and through my scarlet colored glasses I can talk myself into believing we could even go 9-3 this year. The rational person in me says 7-5 or 6-6 is a real possibility but I could be convinced that we go 5-7 but still see it as real progress. I think Iowa will be a great measuring stick at the end of the year. Even if you beat us as long as we don't quit like we have the last couple years I think it will show at least the culture is moving in the right direction.
I don't know why but for some reason I could see Iowa knocking off Penn State but then falling to Purdue the next week. I can't give anyone the nod over Wisconsin until someone earns it.
Additional thought...I would love to keep our game on black Friday. I live on the West border of Nebraska so I'm not around any Iowa fans so I don't have the irrational hate for y'all but I still feel like it could turn into a pretty good rivalry match-up. Especially if y'all can maintain and we can return then it would be a game that actually means a lot to both of us.

You bring up good points and I didn't really look at next years but cross over matchups are important part any more when looking at how teams will fair in the West. I know Huskers have a brutal cross over match ups this year almost like Wisconsin did 2 years ago. Iowa ended up playing top 3 last year as well. I do remember seeing that teams who are matched up on a 6 straight year basis for cross overs going into 3rd year are: Iowa-PSU, Wisconsin-Michigan, Nebraska-Ohio St, PSU-Northwestern, Indiana-Purdue, Minnesota-Maryland and Illinois-Rutgers if I'm not mistaken.
You are correct on the 6 straight year matchups. If Purdue, Minnesota or Illinois get into a place where they are legitimate contenders for the division playing Indiana or Rutgers can be a one-game advantage as opposed to having Penn State or OSU.
And yes, Nebraska's road schedule this year is difficult. At Michigan, at Wisconsin, at Northwestern, at Ohio State, at Iowa. Hello. Home schedule for Huskers is favorable but they won't be favored likely in any of those road games.
Iowa's shot at the West comes down to the early-season home game against Wisconsin. Win that, and Iowa has a shot. Lose and Wisconsin largely has the division crown wrapped up.
Meanwhile UN is undefeated against:
Lincoln High School 6-0
Grand Island High School 3-0
Bellevue High School 3-0
Doan College (NAIA) 7-0
and 10 against powerhouse Omaha Balloon (seriously).

My hope is that Nebraska will win 1 or 2 that we shouldn’t. This is how I see the West. I may have Purdue too high, but I could see it.
