I imagine this will all be resolved by December 13. Or December 21.
You want Iowa's greatest shooter of all time and possible the best 3pt shooter in conference history to come off the bench after starting for three seasons?I hope that Bohannon plays a lot of minutes, especially when down or late in games, but that he is willing to accept a role off the bench next year.
Where do you think he should start? At the point over a junior McCaffery or at the 2 over sophomore Fredrick? He should absolutely be playing starter minutes, but Bohannon is an offensive specialist, and Iowa is finally getting some guys who can do a little bit of everything to where he no longer has to take on as large of a role as he has the past few years. You want Iowa's greatest shooter of all time and possible the best 3pt shooter in conference history to come off the bench after starting for three seasons?
LMAO, if healthy, he starts.I hope that Bohannon plays a lot of minutes, especially when down or late in games, but that he is willing to accept a role off the bench next year.
“I haven’t really practiced at all,” Bohannon said. “Not to use that as an excuse. I just haven’t really been able to get into a rhythm this season. Like I said, just trying to come in and do what I can to help this team win.
So selfish![]()
I will be surprised if he doesn't play against ISU. See Pemsl last season.New column from Syracuse: Jordan Bohannon tells me he is no longer practicing as his hip pain continues. What's next for him after Tuesday night's big win? And what's changed for the surging Hawkeyes since the humbling DePaul loss?https://t.co/oJefLE7Dfw

It isn’t a demotion, it’s utilizing him in a position where he can best help the team. Don’t really care if he starts or not, but I would have him coming off the bench but playing a lot of minutes.

Oh GTFO of here with this.
Its just like Naz during the season he took a medical hardship. He played up until the Iowa game and then shut it down. Its nothing like Pemsl last season.
Weird thing to take offense over.
"I didn't get a lot of sleep Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, because these games are what I live for, playing in this type of environmente. I love to have the ball in my hands late game and try to make something happen."
Team of one.
You seem to “lol” at a lot of comments without ever providing any sort of substance to back it up. It is early in the year, so of course the body of work is too small to really make any firm judgements on players, but Connor has been one of our three most efficient offensive players this year, trailing only Fredrick and Garza. Beyond that, he actually has the ability to defend three, and at times, four, positions effectively.Yes he should be playing over McCaffery. lol

Additionally, Bohannon will be coming off a full year of not having played in a competitive basketball game, and Connor will he entering his third straight season of play.
If you want to hold the opinion that Jordan should come back and immediately hold the starting point guard spot, fine. But having a different opinion isn’t that egregious. And, as I said, I believe that regardless of whether or not he starts, Jordan should be logging starter minutes. It would just be nice to have quality two way players starting the game

No one has answered this question yet. Who is going to be willing to come off of a scholarship if Jordan returns next season? Till will probably go back to being a walk-on or leaving the program. Kriener graduates. Iowa signed 5 recruits for next year that will be on scholarship. Both McCaffery bothers are on scholarship and could relinquish their scholarships to allow for the program to be under the max of 13, or Connor could strictly play baseball and that would clear up the glut of 14 players, or Joe Wieskamp could opt to leave the program early.
What other options will Fran have to keep the scholarship max of 13 or under for next year?
If Jordan returns I can see either 1 of the 2 - 2020 guard recruits asking out of their commitment or Joe T. transferring, but having 5 or 6 guards vying for minutes next year is crazy. Someone will be left out in the cold.
A little over the top there, of course IMO.It seems pretty black and white to me. If Fran misleads the entire fan base, the AD and Jordan and his family....one of the most popular Hawkeye basketball players in 30 years and deprives everyone of his senior season because of his mismanagement, it would probably cost him his job. I'd like to think Fran, having been around the college basketball basically his whole life, and our compliance people know the rules well enough to know this is 100%.
I don’t understand the Joe T transferring that I have seen multiple people say. There is zero indication that is even a possibility at this point. They lose Kreiner, Evelyn, and I’m sure Till. I wouldn’t be surprised if Pemsl graduates and plays his final year somewhere else or hangs it up due to so many injuries. Than I’m sure Fran is thinking that in this day and age, it’s likely to lose at least one player to transfer or he expects Wieskamp to look again to NBA. He has the luxury if everyone does return to roll his kids off scholarship.
Yeah. Pensl played it that one game only, nyet?Oh GTFO of here with this.

I wasn't being critical. You are correct that it's what Naz did, and I'm sure the desire to play against the Hawks was part of the reason, perhaps the main reason. I was just just making an observation.
Oh he will.I will be surprised if he doesn't play against ISU. See Pemsl last season.

I don't know if Joe W will be "Looking" at the NBA, but at this point its highly unlikely they will be "Looking" at him. Joe will be a very good college player, IF he lets the game come to him, but he's a long way from being NBA ready.....I don’t understand the Joe T transferring that I have seen multiple people say. And so does your comments sooooooo.......Very true, not taking anything away from his accomplishments. But his quote does have 'I' in it 3 times.
He was efficient last year too, pretty much exclusively playing PG. I don’t really agree that he can’t drive by any P6 guard. He doesn’t seem to try very hard to get in the lane, but when he does, he gets that floater which he seems to always bank in. His lack of athleticism is overstated imo. He’s done well posting up smaller guards as wellConnor has been more efficient because he's NOT playing PG when JBO and JoeT are in the game. He's a distributor/role player guy. He still can't hit a 3pt shot at better than 31% clip and he can't drive by any P5 PG because he is too slow. HE's doing pretty well as a 2nd PG in 3 or 4 guard system and getting some inside fadeaways/drives vs bigger/slower players.
What’s the latest he can play his 10th game? Prior to new year?I look for JBo to sit out MI (which I think we stand little chance of winning) and then play against MN, @ ISU, and Cinn in Chicago. The latter 3 winnable games, the first one - not really.
He has played in 7 games, he has 10 to play and should put him in a position of compliance with the medical hardship waiver.

A few years back Naz Long did the exact same thing for Iowa State. Played ten in pain and shut it down....it was basically to bridge the gap until Burton became eligible at semester.Yeah, if his hip hurts that bad that he isn't practicing at the beginning of the season I have to imagine he is going to shut it down. Hopefully he isn't doing any additional damage or setting himself back in his recovery. But shows what kind of teammate he is.
