boy I was not prepared for this Iowa BTN Journey story

Wow, just wow. I had no idea about Patrick’s friend with cancer when he was diagnosed. I’m glad this story is being told so his light can continue to shine for his family and friends. Gave me chills when his mom said the numbers on the day he died added up to 22.

For all the flack Fran’s gotten over the years for playing his kids over others, he has literally experienced one of the darkest hours any parent could imagine. Austin’s parents having experienced the absolute worst. God bless them all.

Here's a great post from last night from a parent whose child (Tate) battled a rare form of brain cancer that grows within the brain stem. Tate, sadly, passed away. Stuff like this is what most people never see. The McCaffery family is making an impact on a lot of people outside of basketball.

It is sad, BUT honestly I'm kinda shocked no one seems to have heard about this story? This has been talked about all through Pmac's career at Iowa during countless games. His friend Austin is why wearing the number 22 was so important to Patrick that they asked Seeburg? for permission to wear his retired number.

I get the heart felt message but I got a little chuckle out of the comment about felling like no one else was at that practice besides Tate. I think we all feel that way when it comes to coaching defense.
