I just simply have never been a fan of the "grass is greener on the other side" mentality. This is especially true when your grass already is WAY greener than everyone but 1 other house in the entire country.

To keep the green grass anaolgy, to realistically consider making a change, I would want the proven creators of Natural Way, True Green and Chem Lawn to ALL come to an intensive 3 phase interview. I would want them to lay out to me how and why they would not only do better than(Iowa underr Brands) but be able to surpass someone(PSU under Sanderson) that has revolutionized the market. We are talking about a guy that found the way to organically create his lawn by hand, while damn near taking over the entire inventory necessary to make the grass that green.

The problem is, I don't see anyone at that level to even come interview. The simple truth is, you are just as likely, probably more so, to fall further behind with a new hire, than to magically catch a team that has revolutionized the sport is so many different ways...

First off, Charlie Murphy, if Ben wanted to be coaching at the DI level, he ALREADY would be. The amount of committment necessary is something very few people will ever understand. Second, being the CEO of a DI school is night and day different from coaching a youth academy. For the most part, you don't develop talent, you refine it.

Lastly, how much money do you think it would take for Ben to do it? He has done very weil for himself. Do you honestly think he would take the job for what Brands is getting now? I am pretty sure the answer is no. Do you really think Iowa would offer him more? If so, how much more? Would they honestly think a 100% UNPROVEN at the DI Level is worth that kind of money and INARGUABLE risk?

Oh, and if you want to call placing top 5 essentially every year, with 4 team titles "mediocrity", you may be on more drugs than cocaine...

Askren's do an excellent job of producing youth and high school wrestlers but hasn't coached a college program. Ben has stated many times he's not interested in college coaching and no one knows how he would do in a year round college program.

AWA Wrestlers in the top ten: Keegan O'Toole, Mitchell Messenbrink, Peyton Mocco, Parker Keckeisen, Clayton Whiting ...and he's got Noah Mulvaney as a true freshman just outside it.

Anybody who really made jumps here in the P4P ranks either....nope. Askren's got 2 and should have 3...and that's out of their first crop of kids they developed.

If you think that the Askrens should/could be assistants here that is naive at best. Tom runs the program similar to Xi Jingping or Kim Jung Un the "inner circle" stuff is a bunch of paranoid psychobabble otherwise top wrestlers would still be part of the program. He cares more about holding onto his job than making the program the best it can be, that's why the top criteria for assistants is yes men.

How many years did Gable and Cael sit as assistants for? Ben and Max are that type of talent. Einstein didn't work in academia he was a patent clerk when he revolutionized physics, to think that you would make assistants of top hires in the game that is laughable and shows how sycophantic this fan base has become.

And the pitch for Ben is this:

You're from this state, you inherited a love a wrestling because your father got started in the sport here. Come home and restore a once proud brand to the position it ought to be in. You started on a wrestling journey a long time ago and have revolutionized this sport at a deep level. Come on home and let this be your capstone course. You know that letting Cael have his way with all these old hats is bad for the sport and we need competitive balance to return to make wrestling as great as it can be. And you know you're the essence of the word competitor and you know with the Iowa infrastructure and your skills as a coach you can not only compete with PSU you can beat them.
