Milestones, with a projected 23 more games this season:

(1) 324 pts needed to break the Big Ten record of 3,402 (Kelsey Mitchell, Ohio State; 2015-2018; 139 GP; 24.5 ppg)

-----> Looks like she needs roughly 17 more games to do it (27 ppg x 17 games = 459).

(3) 571 pts needed to break the AIAW record of 3,649 (Lynette Woodard, Kansas University; the AIAW was pre-NCAA; she played from 1978-1981; 139 GP; 26.3 ppg)
-----> Looks like she needs roughly 21 more games to do it (27 ppg x 21 games = 567).

(4) On Nov 12, 2023, Caitlin passed Megan's 2,804 to become Iowa's All Time Leading Scorer.

Iowa is now 11-1 with a projected 23 more games to go this season. NOTE: during the 2022-2023 season (38 games) we played 29 reg season games, 3 B1G tourney games, and 6 NCAA tourney games to get to our final 31-7 record. This season we should expect around 35 games (30 reg season games plus HOPEFULLY AT LEAST 2 B1G tourney games and AT LEAST 3 NCAA tourney games).

Caitlin's 4 year Career Points Projection:
2,717 pts to start the 2023-2024 season (100 Games)
945 projected pts for 2023-2024 (35 games x 27ppg career ave)
..........................................
3,662 Projected Points by end of 2023-2024 season (new NCAA & ALL TIME record)

For GOAT Reference:

2,804 Career Points, Megan Gustafson (#25 in NCAA History)

...........20.8 ppg, 2015-2019, 135 GP

3,649 Career Points, Lynette Woodard (has the AIAW record, which was pre-NCAA; the NCAA took over the administration of women's basketball for the 1981-82 season; the NCAA has treated the AIAW, the first era of organized collegiate women's basketball, as if it never happened; in 4 years and 139 games played at Kansas, from 1978-1981, Lynette was a 4 time All-American and averaged 26.3 points per game; she probably should be considered the current all time D1 and D1 equivalent scoring leader).

Can Caitlin Clark break the career 3-pointer record? Clark has 403 so far and Kelsey Mitchell had 497 in 4 years. Oklahoma's Taylor Robertson had 537 in 5 years. Although, she only played 151 games in 5 years. Clark can potentially play 170+ games in 5 years.

Clark has averaged 3.5 threes per game over her career. She’ll need to average over 4 per game for Fran’s estimated 23 games remaining to break Mitchell’s career record. She is averaging 4.6 so far this year, but the schedule gets tougher,

I mentioned this in the in-game thread but how cool is it that our great home state of Iowa has 3 players in that top 10 list...

Reminds me a little of 2005 when the state of Iowa had 3 teams make the NCAA tournament.

Kate Martin currently is at 958 career points. Doubt that she goes for 42 tonight, but she should be getting a white basketball for a major career accomplishment some time this month.
