Caitlin needed 18 pts today to top the Men's NCAA scoring record of 3,667 points (Pete Maravich, LSU; 1968-1970; 83 Games Played; 44.2 ppg).

Points #17 and #18 came at the 3/10 of a second mark of the 2nd quarter.

Congrats to the greatest women's basketball player of all time.

As I recall as a student during that era, Freddie Brown and Ben McGilmer were the long range bombers On that team. Calabria once and a while.

Caitlin had 35 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds and 3 steals in #6 Iowa's (26-4, 15-3) 93-83 win vs #2 Ohio State (25-4, 16-2).

How she got her 35 points:

4-9 (44%) from 2 pt range
...................
10-26 (38%) Overall Shooting

9-10 (90%) FTs

Lisa Bluder on Caitlin Clark (now 3,685 career points) passing the 54-year-old Division I men's mark of Pistol Pete Maravich (3,667):

“To me, you don't have to break a man's record to be recognized. I think breaking Lynette (Woodard)'s record was significant. To me, eh. I admire Pistol Pete but at the same time I don’t want that to be the bar for women’s athletics.”

This season we should expect around 35 games (30 reg season games plus HOPEFULLY AT LEAST 2 B1G tourney games and AT LEAST 3 NCAA tourney games).

Caitlin's 4 year Career Points Projection:
2,717 pts to start the 2023-2024 season (100 Games)
1,120 projected pts for 2023-2024 (35 games x 32 ppg ave. this season)
..........................................
3,837 Projected Points by end of 2023-2024 season (new NCAA & ALL TIME "Big School" Scoring Record)
===================

For GOAT Reference:

2,804 Career Points, Megan Gustafson (#26 in NCAA History)

...........20.8 ppg, 2015-2019, 135 GP

3,649 Career Points, Lynette Woodard (has the AIAW career scoring record; the AIAW was pre-NCAA; the NCAA took over the administration of women's basketball starting with the 1981-82 season; the NCAA, unfortunately, has treated the AIAW, the first era of organized collegiate women's basketball, as if it never happened; in 4 years and 139 games played at Kansas, from 1978-1981, Lynette was a 4 time All-American and averaged 26.3 points per game; she probably should be considered the current #2 all time D1 and D1 equivalent scorer).
