Coach Frank Garza

Those of you who do not want to give much, if any, credit to Frank for Luka's development and say that most all of the credit goes to Luka, needs to stop blaming the coaches for the lack of development of the players including their lack of defensive prowess. Afterall, it is on the players because they develop themselves, right?

Or maybe they are already giving the coaches the credit (more than Frank) for Luka’s development?

What is the obsession with Frank Garza? What other credentials does he have as a coach? Some of you guys act like he’s ready to open another Pete Newell camp for big men from back in the day. He’s not going to coach at Iowa. Ship has sailed. Enjoy the best player in basketball while we have him.

Last year, I posted that Frank Garza is the 'man who saved Iowa Basketball'.

Certainly, since Luka entered the scene, the Basketball program has soared, like a
Phoenix...............perhaps to highest heights, ever...........

Thoughts ??

Thoughts? That take is absurd. Since Luka became a Hawkeye we have won a single NCAA tournament game.

How is that the programs highest heights ever?

Frank seems to be a combination Coach/Drill Sergeant in most of the training videos. The fact that Luka was so committed to improving to be the best is the key to his development.

Yes memories are short sometimes. From 1979-1989, Iowa won a Big 10 regular season title (shared with the Magic Johnson Spartans that won the NCAA), went to the NCAA tournament 10-11 years, 1 Final four, 1 Elite 8, 2 other Sweet 16's. So 4 times in that time period Iowa made it to at least the Sweet 16. Not likely to ever see that in a decade as a Hawkeye fan again, but a guy can dream.

My opinion of this team's ceiling is much different than many fans on here, and that's fine. I'll hope I'm very wrong and that they win a conference title and make it past the first weekend of the NCAA tournament. When we've never even made it to Saturday in the Big 10 tournament under Fran, I don't see how this team is ready to make the quantam leap yet. But that's just me.

You ask good questions. Don't know the answer.

Maybe so, but all the twitter and video stuff seems to be as much about promoting Frank as anything favorable for Luka. I mean seriously what does all that back patting do, and for whom? Luka lets his play on the court speak for itself, and it speaks VOLUMES! Everything else is self promotion for Dad IMHO......

Am I the only one confused by his math there? I thought maybe he was saying it’s the 55th day of the year, but it’s not that’s the 24th. What am I missing?

I'm with you. I'm lost. I'm also a social studies teacher so I have guaranteed there will be no math.
