Anyone know if/why he committed to iowa? Never heard anything about it until his tweet? Anything about this kid anyone have any insight?

It's official ... it would appear.
So it looks like he went in the portal in october but just comitted to Fordham dec. 25th. Changed his mind 11 days later.
He was recruited by Budmayr at Wisconsin. I would assume this played a key role in his Iowa decision, also makes you question what Budmayr's role will be with the hawks next year.
That was my thought, but hey we could take the Fordham OC as well lol. Straight up trade for Brian Ferentz

sure, the simplest explanation, and most likely the truth. Just peculiar considering Iowa seems to have some decent depth at QB.
I'm a huge fan of a move like this especially after losing a QB. Just like Nebby did last year pulling in Thompson and Purdy.
This transfer portal is odd as heck…I’d assume he decided on Iowa because of JB, but still 3rd/4th string Wiscy to the same at Iowa?
I also think quarterback evaluation is completely different from staff to staff, and only a few coaches in college football are really very good at it?
Kind of like how we are really good at identifying & developing defensive football players!

Iowa likes to have 4 qb’s on the roster….McNamara, Labas, Lainez, and now Hill. Lost Padilla and May. Only had three on the depth chart and who is to say Labas might not decide to go elsewhere if an offer ($$) comes along. It’s a whole new ball game with transfers and NIL.
I think that this tells us a lot about Budmayr's role next year. The two QBs who have transferred in were both heavily recruited by him.
I mean Deacon Jones and Deacon Blues were both good, so one would conclude......
I'm wondering if this is the real reason May left.
Maybe believes Cade is a 1 and done and that he can compete with Labas for start job.
Any QB that could not beat out either Petras or Merentz makes me a little leery, but I will (gulp) trust the coaches on this one…having said that, I do like the pick up and it never hurts to have depth at QB….😉

I don't understand. What is wrong with Labas? I get the 4 QBs on a roster but something seems really fishy about this.
Saw the thread title and thought Boone's Farm had a new vintage.
Needed this! Depth for springball if nothing else. Labas would have been only QB if Cade not ready yet.

He didn’t look bad, but I don’t think Labas’ tape from the other day is going to frighten off other players.

Possibly so. It's also possible May was planning to transfer but as a good teammate stuck around for the bowl game. In that case, Hill got recruited to fill the slot.
He wants to play on Black Friday.
