Democratic Socialist Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) encouraged Democrats to "vote uncommitted" in the Feb. 27 presidential primary due to the Biden administration's handling of the conflict in the Gaza strip.

An "uncommitted" vote is a form of protest designed to send a message.

"Right now, we feel completely neglected and just unseen by our government," Tlaib said in a video to Michigan residents filmed outside of a civic center in Dearborn. "If you want us to be louder, then come here and vote uncommitted."

On Wednesday, Tlaib was the only member of Congress to vote against a resolution condemning Hamas for its Oct. 7 attack on Israel. In her message, she said she wants voters to "support life" and "stand up for every single life killed in Gaza."

"It is important, as you all know, to not only march against the genocide, not only make sure that we’re calling our members of Congress and local electeds," said Tlaib, who in November accused Biden of supporting "genocide" in Gaza.

"It is also important to create a voting bloc, something that is a bullhorn to say, ‘Enough is enough. We don’t want a country that supports wars and bombs and destruction.’"

"I want you to think of all of the amazing young children and the people again, lives were lost in Gaza. This is the way you can raise our voices. Don’t make us even more invisible," continued Tlaib, a vocal critic of Israel.

Tlaib marks the highest-profile Democrat so far to get behind the so-called "Listen to Michigan" campaign, which hopes to raise 10,000 "uncommitted" votes for its cause (around the same margin Donald Trump won the swing state in 2016).

Over the past three and a half months, Biden's handling of the war in Gaza has strained his relationship with progressives.

"A lot of people in our base are feeling really hesitant about supporting Joe Biden," said Stevie O’Hanlon, spokesperson for climate-focused youth group Sunrise Movement, in a statement to the Wall Street Journal earlier this month. "Joe Biden needs the young generation in order to win and that is going to require him doing a lot on climate, on Gaza, on immigration, to try and regain trust that’s been broken."

Biden hasn’t done anything to stop Israel in Gaza. His deference which drew a response from the Houthis has driven shipping costs up astronomically. Putin is meeting with Hamas.

There isn’t. She’s a nut and a bad look for the party. Never was a big Squad fan. Too far left for me.

Extremes are bad for both parties.
The difference however is that the extreme is running one party, and has been kept on the fringe in the other.

Nobody is thinking about putting Tlaib in a leadership role anywhere. AOC has learned to at least publicly moderate what she says now so she has a chance in the future - not to mention it's long been rumored she'll run for senate once one of the NY seats comes open or looks vulnerable in a primary challenge.

So they hide what they truly believe just to get elected? Sounds like someone who shouldn’t hold office.

I have also yet to hear anyone explain how AOC is extreme. She is level-headed, bright, and articulate. In a Congress that has people like MTG, Goetz, Boebert, Jordan, etc. AOC is the picture of statesmanship.

Simping for AOC is never going to get you anywhere. Only a simp would say she's articulate and bright.

I don't think she's extreme. I have seen some cherry picked videos of her looking dumb but again that can happen with anybody. Trump and Biden have said some smart and slick things but a well cut up video makes them both look stupid.
If anything sometimes her voice and/or cadence sometimes makes her sound like a 16 year old girl chewing bubblegum. Besides that she doesn't bother me really much.

Read a little of her biography, including placing 2nd in Intel’s highly respected world wide science fair in the microbiology category. Read about her running for Congress while tending bar to help her widowed mom make ends meet.

She is upper echelon intelligence, and an extremely high quality individual. That so many listen to the attacks on her, at least enough to think perhaps she isn’t all the bright, is a travesty.

Yeah man I said I don't believe she is extreme and anything making her look stupid is probably a nicely timed and cut up video.
I didn't say she isn't smart. Most elected officials need to be smart in general or smart manipulators and I don't see her being a manipulator.

None of them are prize winners. What it does show is that the quality of our reps is squarely on we the people.

Well, I'm sure the other guy who wants to round people up into concentration camps will represent he views far better than Biden. It's hard to take this seriously because while Biden may support policies she hates, they sure as f**k aren't going to be even listened to with anyone else.

And that makes her unique amongst politicians….how?
It doesn't. Unlike you, everything I post doesn't have to be an argument. Why are you so cranky? Did your wife not share her donuts with you? Come to the Pensacola area, and I'll buy you donuts and the adult beverage of your choice. You seem like a good person, even though we disagree on politics.

She was a young woman in a position of power. That alone is very extreme for a lot of people.

That’s for the primary. Will she be singing the same tune during the general?

She’s done more for Texans than Ted Cruz ever has…and she’s from NYC. We need more of her, not less.
