ESPN says there are 8 Blue Bloods in College Football

You just don't get it. Iowa has passed you & if Neb can ever pass Iowa as a program l'll accept it. Just don't see it happening in the next 50 years. After that I should be dead & it won't bother me;)

Of course. That's why Iowa is in running for the spot Nebraska occupies in the top 6-8 of all CFB programs in history. No doubt, Iowa has surpassed anything Nebraska could ever do. I am utterly certain Stanford would agree with that decision. And MSU, and ISU, and so on.

Btw: Good smack talk, and take nothing I say seriously. My wife is certain I am full of it, so I must be.

Look forward to our next game, and thank God the season is underway. I LOVE brisket, in the Texas smoking style. Just don't tell Texas. They are already insufferable pricks.

Do you realize how horribly bad your conference was?! It's been proven & discussed time & time again in this thread. Please try to keep up or ask a Hawkeye for help if you're falling behind in the conversation.

Please show me any place where this 'fact' was proven. I do believe that if the Big 10, in that period, was superior at the game of football Nebraska would have encountered one of these Big 10 teams for a National Championship. My memory must be lacking.

The best teams in the nation seemed to come from Florida during that period. Miami, Florida State, Florida, they all had their shots at Nebraska. And they won some. And Nebraska won some. Nebraska was in 5 or 7 National Championship games in the 1990's. I do not recall facing a Big 10 team. Wait, I actually do.

Nebraska beat the tar out of MSU in Nick SABAN'S debut at MSU with a score of 50-10. After which Tom Osborne reassured ole Nick that his team wasn't really all that bad. And he was right.

But that wasn't Iowa. Iowa wasn't good enough to meet Nebraska in the post season. Or any time since, what? 1985? Whenever.

Ole Nick, the best coach in all of CFB couldn't handle what Nebraska threw at him. He was disgusted at the outcome and quit MSU shortly thereafter. Where was your Big 10 then?

Edit: It is truly good to be in this conference, and I DO enjoy the trash talk. I am grateful that the B1G saw fit to give Nebraska a long-term home and I look forward to our continuing battles for the West.

Also, understand that my trash talk is all meant in good fun. If you get your hackles up, I do apologize. But I hope we can all just enjoy the seasons and root for our favorite teams(s) without poisoning trees or other dastardly deeds. After the game, I respect and care greatly for my many Iowa friends. It's not their fault they were born into families with bad corn.

Holy hell! It's been proven over & over how bad your conference/schedule was for decades. Not going to re-type all that. Big8 should've played for way more titles! One team had an easy path every year because they played in the Big8.

And yes, Iowa has passed Neb. Everybody in the nation gets that but Nebbers. Do you think the Romans still run the world? US has passed them just so you know. Sound familiar?

I am new to this message forum, so I would appreciate any links you have to support your argument. I truly respect people who can back up their talk. And I am also familiar with Romans. I give you a verse that suggests you honor our Nebraska requests for our next National Championship. I do hope you will take it in the kindness and good fellowship intended:

From The Romans:

13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

With that, please understand that we NEED another championship and that your hospitality in this accomplishment would be very much appreciated. It may gain you entrance into Heaven one day and save you.

You're probably new to reading also. Since you're from Neb and all. Just read old posts & you'll get it.

In Heaven there is no beer. Need I say more?!

I suppose, based on your reply, that you do not expect Heaven will be your final destination? I am here if you wish to talk. And I hope you will change your ways before the end.

Sigh....geez who knew you were going to say that, not any of us??!?!.... By the by I remember one of those GREAT 9-3 Husker teams losing to lowly 8-4 Iowa, in fact I was there. Honestly you know crap friend..what you mean is you hope?

Nothing like a 1 game example to prove a point. And you say I'm not good at this debate thing? LOL!

I don't know how to dumb things down so Nebraskans can get it. I truly do not. We need a translator. What's more dumb than a Hawkeye but smarter than a Nebber?

A Colorado Buffalo fan maybe?! I'll see if I can find one.

I think you've just out-dumbed yourself again! The B1G has been much more balanced than the Big8 in the last 35 years.

In fact, I think since 2000 the only teams to NOT win a Big title are Neb, Minn, Rut, Ind & Mary. Rut & Mary have only been here for 2 years so they get a pass.

Neb, Minn, & Ind.Some great company you've got there!

Can't wait for your newest stupid post!
This is about the biggest joke of an argument you could make. How many teams have won outright conference titles? If you count northwestern in 2000 I seem to remember the lowly Cornhuskers beating them 66-17. Backing your way into shared conference titles because of lack of championship games and the schedule tipping in your favor doesn't count.

So you hate facts? Most Nebbers do.

So you acknowledge that Neb, Ind, & Minn are the worst programs in the B1G since 2000? As far as having a championship like season.
You still didn't answer my original question if you are into "facts." You brought up "championship like season." I will agree 100% Nebraska backed it's way into a National Championship game in 2001 but when was the last time Iowa played in one. Back the the original question, OUTRIGHT conference championships?

I'm going to need to see you admit Neb, Minn, & Ind are the losers of the conference.

So there was only 3 years the b10 had a champ in the 20 years before Lil Debbie was let in? Nice. Go get OSU and Mich to agree that their shared titles don't count and then we'll do the same.

So from 1990-2010 the big 10 only had 3 years with an outright champion?

Yes they are pathetic. That pathetic team has more wins than you over the last 5, 10, 15, 100 years etc. Now you answer my question.
Was that you really admitting Neb sucks or just being sarcastic? Type it again but this time be so sincere that I have no doubt that you think Neb sucks & will never win a B1G title.

I guess that must be why Iowa has had so much trouble with one of the worst teams from the Big 12 North, Iowa State. Also, check out Iowa's record against the Big 12 and Big 12 North. Not exactly stellar.

Why don't you see if you can get past Iowa State with some regularity before you set your sites on bigger things. You're 10-10 vs Iowa State the last 20 years. Tsk Tsk Tsk... Shameful..

The problem with this is everyone wants it's own team to be rated. Nebraska had things fall into line and took full advantage of them. When I lived in Omaha in 1961 the office bar in downtown Omaha took two busses to Iowa games every week. That's how week Nebraska football was at that time. I went to a Nebraska game with a local fan (I I believe they played N Dakoda ) and the attendance was 10,000 fans. We could sit where we wanted.

Biggest thing Debbie has going for it right now is that most of the people voting in these things are at least in their 40s, and therefore old enough to remember when they were a power back in the 20th century.

Problem for Debbie now is if they don't start winning something again very soon, they'll start losing the recruits as their national brand disappears due to the old age of those who remember it.

They already threw away the history they are so proud of when they walked away from all the teams that gave it to them. The clock is ticking...

You all (all sides) are very entertaining. I can't help but picture a bunch of 50 year old fat guys sitting in their underwear at the computer, drinking Bud Light as they sort furiously through 50 years worth of Sports Illustrated magazine, various CFB record books, online, and various books on proper grammar and spelling, all in an effort to thwart the Evil Enemy on the other side.

Seriously, thanks for allowing your forum to be a place of enjoyment and amusement. I know that some Nebraska boards have a rep for being heavy-handed. I can't do anything about that, but I can (and do) thank Iowa's board admins and fans for being good hosts in this forum.

Lol....Amen ain't that the true... Iowa forum board is the greatest.:)

Rocky deflects, deflects, and then deflects some more when he is beaten. Never can answer a question outright without saying "how much NU sucks." Keep at it, short bus.

I know you are just trolling Husker fans to stir the pot, but even a short bus can think of better argument than what you are giving.

Little brother to Iowa? No fan is dumb enough to fall for that troll.

Right now you are living rent free in a few Husker fan heads though, I can give you kudos on that though.

Not sure how a Hawkeye fan can call Nebraska "pathetic" with a straight face. We have had 1 good year. Let's start putting a few 10 win seasons in a row together before we start claiming this type of stuff.

FACT:
Nebraska has 25 conference wins over the last 5 years to Iowa's 23.
With that logic, Iowa must also be "pathetic."

FACT:
Nebraska has beat Iowa 3 out of the last 5 years.
With that login, Iowa must also be "pathetic."

And don't be an Iowa State fan and say well Iowa has won 2 of the last 3:)

Truth is both programs are solid and have a chance to be the leader in the B1G West for many years. For Nebraska to lose it's "prestige" that they earned by being dominant for 30 years in a row, they would need to start putting multiple seasons together with 5 or less wins and miss bowl games.

This thread is hilarious, especially about the part on how the Big 12/Big 8 was weak compared to the Big 10. The last 5 years Nebraska played in the Big 12, it can be argued the Big 12 was the toughest conference, yes even tougher than the SEC. The SEC had titles, but the Big 12 was deep. And keep in mind that had Colt McCoy not gone down on the second play of the game Texas would have had another one. Nebraska had a very hard time competing in the Big 12 the last few years, heck KU hung 76 points on them one year.

As for comparing the Big 10 to the Big 12/Big 8, you can't just make sweeping generalizations. The conference strength thing is cyclical. There were years where each conference looked really good, really bad, and in-between. Competing in the Big 10 right now is a huge advantage though, with a 14 team league, you get breaks in the schedule some years(see Iowa last year). Compared to the Big 12 now, who goes round robin and there is no avoiding the tough teams. Until this year, the Big 10 got 4 non-conference games, Big 12 just 3. So half of the Big 12 has a scheduled loss and a lot of the Big 10 had a scheduled win with the extra nonconference game. Plus, in the power rankings the Big 12 normally has 7-8 teams ranked in the top 40, that makes it really tough. Going forward, I think the we are seeing a time where the Big 10 is getting better and the Big 12 a little weaker, again it is cyclical.

We were talking about Elite Schools vs Blue Bloods in another thread and found it very interesting. ESPN (i know....espn) has an article out today with their 8 Blue Blood programs and list every college football team in order.

What stands out to me is that Michigan has only won 2 NC's!! Wow! Bo was overrated.

Tennessee seems way too high IMHO. Yeah, they've won NC's and been in the conversation for others (Peyton manning era), but nada recently.

Shouldn't Penn State be disqualified for all their wins and NC's during the Sandusky pedophile era?

I think Iowa @ #30 is pretty generous. Where would they be if they weren't 12-2 in 2015?

Well Sagarin disagrees with that as well any other objective measure you care to come up with.

Bo definitely never won a national title, but Michigan has 11 national titles, not 2, it's just that most of them were long ago.

So...you're saying that if you were a Nebraska fan in 1961...you know what it feels like to be an Iowa fan nearly every year since the inception of college football. Thanks for the insight.

I won't even goes as far as to say that both programs are solid. I know that I don't feel comfortable with where our program is right now. How could I when we just went 6 - 7?
I know that I like Mike Riley's personality much better than that jackass that was here previously. I also think that when we get a good passing QB that we will be able to better utilize in Riley's offense, we will perform at a higher level.

Iowa just had a great season, due to at least in some part to the fact that there were 2 new coaches in the West, and that their schedule was favorable otherwise. But Iowa has a coach that I would have confidence in. We're still making that determination with Riley.
