Everyone Who Says Brock & Pryce Aren’t Big Players. . .

Back in the day, there was no social media. But Iowa should employ a sports psychologist to assist with the mentally weak.

Sure thing tough guy.

Brock put up some fantasy football type numbers tonight. Doesn’t matter if you put up points when you are down 24 or not, they all still count the same in the stat book!

Illinois put its two best defenders on Sandfort and Dix and we’re going to make Harding and others beat them.

There is a big difference between points when the game is in doubt and points in garbage time. Padding your stats when you are down 24 and you have no pressure is not that impressive. Illinois had a player get 14 against Duke after the team was down 30. Not meaningful at all.

That was kind of my entire point. He scored all these points when the game was already decided. I didn’t make my sarcasm very apparent I don’t think.

Stats are meaningless when you're getting blown out.

Hint...we already know that and there is sarcasm. Harding is not a starting PG on a good team, but on a garbage team playing garbage ball, he's a star. Too bad he had 5 turnovers all by himself. I honestly think some of the things he does are amazing for a guy his size---too bad there wasn't a league for under 6'0.

Harding, Sandfort, and Sandfort on the floor at the same time is a complete disaster.
That line up card has all the makings of a meaningless NIT 1st round game somewhere…well, not this year at least. Would any other BT program have those 3 on the court at the same time - maybe Northwestern? 😢

All the haters need to quiet down. Did anyone see that sweet Harding to Sandfort layup the last play of the game?!? We are back! 🤦‍♂️

I am here to tell you all, there ain't NO B1G-level healthy players on this roster - aside from maybe Thelwell and Brauns, but mostly just for the energy and effort from Even.

Let alone the two mentioned in the thread title.

I stand by what I wrote. They are both Big players and to contend otherwise is ridiculous. Brock had 7 assists in the first half and Pryce scored 15 points. They were not the reason we lost, but keep your blind eyes wide open. The 2nd half was a complete coaching failure.
Pryce is a solid Big Ten player. Brock would be ok as a backup, playing 10-15 minutes a game.

I hate to say it, but I think Brock would benefit immensely from better coaching. He’s lost confidence and picked up bad habits this year. Still, I think he’d be a very good point on the right team. He’s got a contagious energy and creative ball handling skills. The announcers last night loved him. But he needs to be on a team with a shot blocker and teammates that can cover him defensively.

He got exposed constantly last night. Open threes, guys backing him down, blowing by him. It was bad.

That's true for all these players though.

This team looks like they don't have a coach.

No Big Ten team can win at a high level with a player like Harding getting over 25 minutes a game.
A backup playing at most 10 minutes a game maybe

You’re completely ignoring the defensive end of the floor. Iowa needs a huge athletic upgrade in order to compete in the B1G. But I’m sure it’s everyone else who is wrong. We are watching the same below .500 team in conference, yes? Defending the product on the floor is next level stubborn.

Did you read my entire post??? I literally said, "he needs to be on a team with a shot blocker and teammates that can cover him defensively." Brock's game will not work when you have defenders like Payton Sandfort and Dembele.

Maybe we should recruit players who can play D regardless of who else is on the floor with them. The midget needs to transfer down a level.

Novel idea. Maybe just only 5 star NBA ready types? No players with any weaknesses. Brilliant analysis. Why has no one thought of this?

So his game is not good enough on its own. Fits to the 2nd tier recruiting offers he got.

Thornton was 24 pts and 9 asssists---why not hope to find that type of PG like Thorntn over Harding? Harding had a good game, they put Dix on Thornton because he was too strong/big for Harding to guard. I'd keep Harding if I were new coach as a guy to bring off the bench, but I'd also try to find a bigger/stronger/more athletic PG that is more like 6'2 215lbs like Thornton. Harding is a Big10 player, but he's not a starting PG on a Top4 type B1G team.

Pryce should have gotten some of Payton's minutes this season.

Thornton abused Dix most of the game. He’s a great player. Harding guarded him once and he made a tough shot. Not on Harding.

Bottom line is that we don’t win this game without Harding. He’s tough as they come. Winner.

I’ll give you that Harding played to the limit of his abilities tonight. Hit a big shot after almost shitting himself trying to break the press. Most would recognize his limitations, you seem to think he’s a top tier B1G starting level PG. That’s the disconnect with me.

Traore was the only one who was able to defend Thornton.

Osu struggled to score when Seyduo was on Thornton but Fran isn't emotionally capable of trusting a game to defense so he kept taking him out and letting osu back in the game.

Yeah, he's improving but still sketchy as fck as a primary ballhandler. He had 3 ballhandling TOs in the second half alone.

Yes Dix got abused but he did cause a few misses, block Thornton's shot a couple times. , but Harding would have had no chance .

Why not try to recruit a guy of Thornton's quality to play PG? I don't see the need fixate on Harding as starting PG at Iowa when you need to find a more talented guy athletically if you want to have a Sweet16 type team. As a guy coming off bench for change of pace, Harding is fine. We're a 17-15 type team because our guys like Harding aren't super talented and not very good at defense.

Because Fran doesn't offer that type of player. As he puts it, they "pound the ball" too much.

You need to reread the headline on my original post.
