Ferentz visited Waggoner last night, UCLA also involved

Seems odd that Ferentz would go visit Waggoner and then they are suddenly moving on in another direction. I know he's a class act but would he need to tell him personally. Could had the case though, as we are reportedly no longer hosting DL Taylor. Something about new priorities.
Maybe he went there to tell him its time to jump on, or jump off........

I'm 34, UIowa alum, degrees in History/Poly Sci, smarter than Brian Ferentz (because he copied off me in college), recruited by Rick Heller to play baseball, banged Jake Christensen's girl, and have millions under my control on a daily basis. What about you? Show Iowa diploma or GTFO.

The sooner you fogies die off, the better it is for this football program.
Spoken like a true fan, hoping other fans would die. Nice......

Quick, how long has Heller been at Iowa? Also, you left off your employer? A reason? Cause you aren't real!

I left off my employer because I'm not a baby boomer idiot like yourself that doesn't understand the internet. Where's your diploma?

I was recruited by Heller when he was at UNI.

Justify this: Ferentz doesn't even recruit kids from the Mountain and Pacific timezones (with very few outliers - Razor Ramon and Powell are the only ones that comes to mind + DP was JUCO/egregiously utilized). How the hell is that acceptable?

I guess, but at some point what else are we to do. Its like the deal with Martin. Hold the kids hand for a year and a half, have him visit literally countless times, just so he can go elsewhere. If the young man wants to be a Hawk, he should probably know by now. If not then its time to look elsewhere.

I agree. Who was the last highly sought after in-state kid who waited until January and picked Iowa. Problem with waiting is you might lose out on others in the process.

The "We might revert back to the 1960-1970s" crowd need to drive off a cliff, but that would require leaving the Midwest.
Your certainly entitled to your opinion on the state of Iowa athletics, (as I'm sure your aware). Just think its sad that you think that people that don't share your views should be dead. Since those opposed to your views aren't going anywhere, I hope your happy with your personal success. Good luck too you.

Give me a list of home visits from Ferentz, show me a photo of KF in a recruit's house, or show me an article that says that Ferentz visited outside of a 5 hour radius from IC. I'll hold on the line. Show me something that disproves what I said or shove it up your ass.
I don't need to show you anything. A photo LOL. And now your imposing a self-created "5 hour radius" to cover your ass and protect your ignorant prior statement.

You don't strike me as the sharpest lad. I get the impression that you walk sidewalks looking for used gum to chew then complain about the flavor after you scrape one up.

Plus the campus is two blocks from the beach.
And being from that area, THEY do Pray for surf.Oh well huh? Still campus a ways from beach.Santa Monica Pier area waay cool these last 60 years as I can tell you.And no Sharks!Hawks win Big vs Psu.

You guys are a bunch of literal dolts that are glossing over the point. My point is Kirk Ferentz doesn't work hard on the recruiting trail and that's something that cannot be refuted. He coasts by unchecked when we need him pounding the pavement. If he's not willing to put in the work, it's time to go. Simple as that. If you don't believe that, then you're part of the problem.

I think a lot of people underestimate the amount of work some coaching staffs put into recruiting vs other less motivated coaching staffs. I played a sport in college and unfortunately half the coaches got lazy about recruiting while I was there, so it cost us big time by my senior year. This is one of the advantages to having a younger more energetic coach that's going to put in the work on the recruiting trail.

I think our staff works very hard, especially over the past few years with the injection of youth, but not our head coach.

We all know history/poly si majors don’t make any money. You aren’t fooling us with your fake story.

Hey everyone I’m smarter than Ricky Stanzi and banged Shonn Greene’s girlfriend and am a thousandaire. What about you?

translation: went to community college, played intramural softball, picked up a bad case of gonorrhea, and rides the bus to work.

The Saban rule was enacted in 2008. It limits head coaches from being on the road during the Spring evaluation period and limits head coach contact with HS coaches, counselors, teachers. The recruiting coordinator and asst. coaches are just as important as head coaches in recruiting now.

Old greenlite winning friends and influencing people again, with your old cronnie NDSM....Saw you guys down on the Tennessee boards, Florida St boards, A&M boards etc, running their coaches down too....,

By the way, take a guess how many times I heard someone on an NFL broadcast reference WR blocking this year, it was a lot.

Interesting how nobody has addressed this.

LOL. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight

This whole thing is pretty interesting. Minnesota? Very interesting.

Here's my quick take:
  1. The young man was wise to wait. He could see how things played out and see if there were coaching changes.
  2. He has yet to take official visits. Good call. He can now have the time of the staffs to learn what is most important.
  3. His parents are helping him decide. No one knows him better. Appears he's evaluating life in the big city vs. life in Ames or Iowa City.
  4. None of us know his professional ambition. Certainly Iowa's proven track record will be a factor if the NFL is a consideration.
I know where I'd go, Iowa. And I think in the end he will decide the same thing.

But like you all, I wish him the best. I hope he's not a 4* bust at another school.

noticed Iowa backed off another four star DE today. Shifting priorities? Hmm

I think the kid will get much more exposure, assuming he's good enough to play, under Kelly and UCLA than ferentz. Kelly is one of the most brilliant innovative football minds out there, pro results not withstanding and he cast a much greater wake than the guy we're saddled with.

Great point. No one in the NFL even knows who Kirk is. Let alone respects his low key demeanor. I don't even think Kirk has put a D lineman in the league.

Would Nixon be the reason?

What? You want this to turn into the shit show going on at Tennessee? The ongoing shit show at Nebraska? Congrats on screwing someone else's girlfriend by the way. Classy!

Obviously not, but I want the man to work harder on a consistent area of glaring weakness. Christensen had it coming for screwing my 2007.

I had no idea we were in the presence of such greatness. Greatness with anger issues apparently, but greatness none-the-less.
