Ferentz visited Waggoner last night, UCLA also involved

Seems odd that Ferentz would go visit Waggoner and then they are suddenly moving on in another direction. I know he's a class act but would he need to tell him personally. Could had the case though, as we are reportedly no longer hosting DL Taylor. Something about new priorities.
KF went to go see Waggoner yesterday to explain the whole situation in person instead of over the phone. There's still a chance Iowa ends up taking him, but they have more needs than spots available right now.

I don't, but that piece of paper represents my skin in the game. What's yours? Posting on here? Going to a game or two a year? This university is on my resume for life, and, to a certain degree, the University of Iowa's national reputation is tied in with the success of this football program. So yeah, I care and want us to compete for championships on a more consistent basis. I'm not a ~.550 employee and I don't expect this team to be either.

Recruiting players is not the same as developing players. Stay on topic.
Harvard went 5-5 this year, clearly their "piece of paper" is worthless! lol

Just because you typed this doesn't mean it does. I've been following recruiting since 02 and very few non-Iowa/bordering state boys have ever referenced a KF in-home visit. Ferentz only goes out when a high caliber recruit in close proximity is on the fence. Waggoner is one of those guys.

Give me a list of home visits from Ferentz, show me a photo of KF in a recruit's house, or show me an article that says that Ferentz visited outside of a 5 hour radius from IC. I'll hold on the line. Show me something that disproves what I said or shove it up your ass.
First of all, can you please stop with all the confrontation and profanity?

Second, I don't think you understand how the recruiting rules work. The reason you're seeing KF on the road "just now" is this is the first week of the contact period, meaning the first week coaches can do in-home visits, period, and head coaches only get one in-home visit with each recruit.

Third, you're not following recruiting very closely if you've never heard of KF visiting a recruit outside a 5 hour radius of Iowa City. Here are a few just from last year with photos as requested.

They have bigger needs than DE right now. Specifically, they told Leonard Taylor they're going to take a DB instead.

And yet we signed a 2-star Ath from Illinois. Need anymore proof that the rankings are meaningless to KF. Interestingt when you think about it...

And I'll admit, it makes me chuckle that these Internet Coaches are so concerned about it. When KF leaves that will be fine with me as long as we hire a solid replacement, but the anxt he causes some of these cats really is entertaining.. its not like they are unique but KF handles the fans better than most coaches.

Let me assure he does not know even a smidgen of what he thinks he knows, so undoubtedly he hasn't been paying attention.

I don't see any slumber bags! KF is slacking! :D

Not a chance nor would there be any incentive to do so. Why you continue to post this is beyond me.
Keeping reading after

Well, you responded quickly when your integrity was questioned but a coaches integrity can be constantly and wrongly questioned on these boards just saying...

Iowa rarely recruits west of Nebraska, so not very many obviously, only a handful when they go after guys that way. If they continue to recruit this California QB, Spencer Petras, he'll visit him for sure.

I know last year he visited Kyshaun Bryan and Josh Turner in Florida, Trey Creamer in Georgia, Brandon Smith in Mississippi, and Thomas Johnston in Alabama. If you want to include the East Coast, Ihmir Smith-Marsette in New Jersey. He also went to see Peyton Mansell and Matt Hankins in Texas.

Ok why exactly did this kid fall so far off of both instate schools priorit lists? I am hearing rumblings that ISU probably won't take him neither.

Watched him in the playoffs a couple of weeks ago..didn't really standout to me..I thought their linebacker was a stud though.

So, Iowa has to recruit against this? Uh, oh.

Yes, they are hot. And guaranteed crazy as a ring tailed cat as well.

Those are fun to rent for a weekend, but give me a hot Midwestern babe any day.

Trying to read the tea leaves....... We don't take Waggoner because creaddith is a Hawk?

I'm sure to replace Josh Jackson so he can get paid in the league after winning Tatum Award, possible Jim Thorpe Award, First Team All B1G and top league db. He'd be crazy not to go after Des King missed out on a lot of money when he decided to come back for senior year then dropped so far in the draft since no one threw his way senior year. Come on down Dallas C!

Regarding John W, he is probably waiting for that ND offer. Good luck with that kid but could cost you a ride to Iowa if they don't have a spot available at the February signing period.

KF and coaches are trying to get as many signed in the early period so they don't have to scramble last minute like in years past. Really like this early signing period to secure your players and know who really want to play for the Hawks instead of wait for a better offer last minute with the February date which has worked for and against Iowa in years past. I'm sure there will be a lot of movement once all the dust settles with coaching changes. Who knows, John W could end up at Nebraska if ND doesn't come through, Iowa doesn't have a spot and Scott Frost(?) is scrambling to sign players.

Again.......the take away here is .....most people have no idea what there talking about. All the talk about Kirk's recruiting is ridicules. The guy recruits kids that keep there mouths shut ....and willing to learn ....and are not disruptive to the team! He takes 2* players and puts them in the NFL. It would be much easier to put a spoiled, big headed 5* in the NFL but doesn't want the BS that comes along with some of those guys! That in my book makes him a good recruiter and coach. Again ....some people think they are owed a top 5 team every year ....it aint gonna happen ...get over it!

He graduates in December so I can see him leaving as a grad transfer.
I could see him deciding that if he has a college degree it is no longer worthwhile to put in the effort to be a backup QB. From what little we have seen of him as a player, I cannot envision him walking in as a starter at an FCS or FBS school.

I would think that there are some 4-5* kids who keep their mouth shut and want to go to the NFL. Epenesa comment in .. 3....2....1...

Franchise posters like myself don't get banned.
Banned? Who said anything about that. I just enjoy posters who are always negative, have no clue what they are talking about, and spread lies being put in their place and proven wrong. If I wanted you banned, I’d just put you on my personal banned list (ignore).

No blue bloods swooping in late when they have misses or decommits are the biggest benefits to schools like Iowa KF wants the kids to sign in Dec

This whole thing is pretty interesting. Minnesota? Very interesting.

Here's my quick take:
  1. The young man was wise to wait. He could see how things played out and see if there were coaching changes.
  2. He has yet to take official visits. Good call. He can now have the time of the staffs to learn what is most important.
I disagree completely. If the rumors are true, it looks like holding out has cost him multiple offers, including Iowa, ISU, tOSU (not sure he was always a first take for them), and some of his other big offers. I'm unsure how his recent season and film would have impacted his status if committed, but I don't see how this has helped him, coaching changes or not.

I think Iowa will have a few more spots once the semester is over. There will be some guys that announce they are leaving.
