For those who want Fran fired

It's really sad that you actually believe this is true about yourself. You haven't shown any capacity to respect anyone's opinion that is different then yours in the this thread.
I like the post where he called himself "A grown up mentally balanced man". That's comedy gold right there! Because that is what "grown up" men do....lace their posts with words like "sissy" and "idiot" for anyone with a different opinion than him! Gold I tell 'ya!

We have allot of individually offensive talented players but its hard for me to look at a defensive situation like this one (Fran+players) and think that it can get much better.

The offensive talent we have is scoring plenty of points but its never going to result in wins unless there is a significant change in attitude towards defense.

Tuesday was at least a glimmer of hope. They've finally gotten back to at least looking like they did at the end of last year. Lets just hope next year they don't have to relearn how and why to play defense for the third year in a row. And lets hope this year was the wake up call for everyone involved.
This is from 7 years ago, and it sounds like today. What has Fran learned?

Holy shit, How did you find a 7 year old post?

You are correct though, Fran is the reason the defense will always suck. It rarely matters who the players are.

His teams are disorganized, weak, don't communicate and don't play hard or smart.

There is no upside left with him, he's already peaked.

Every now and then, I visit the archives to spot trends and changes. I thought your post was very good, and relevant for today.

Yeah, thanks for digging up this trash thread and making me read it.

Back then, I was standing firmly in the McCaffery corner. After all, I was (and am still now) an Iowa fan. ;)
No dog in the FMcC coaching debate, certainly not in 2018. I'm still a fan although MBB isn't the appointment TV it once was.

Wake up call for Beth.

It's nice to think of the great coaches that MIGHT come to Iowa if Fran leaves, but Iowa is not all that attractive to name coaches. While we have tradition of going to the tournament we haven't made a deep run in forever and it's hard to recruit. It's much more realistic that firing Fran would set Iowa back rather than drive us forward. While this team is bad in almost every phase of the game, I believe Iowa will bounce back in 2019. What this team lacks more than anything is the confidence and swagger of last years team knowing that Jok was there to carry the team when things were down.
Not a big name coaches will flock to for a chance to coach. Thanks For nothing Fran.

Was TJ a big name coach when he came to ISU? He was an assistant there and then head coach at UNLV. I think the West Virginia coach would be great and before he becomes a big name coach.

This didn’t age too well … 😂

Yeah and TJ wasn't even very successful at his previous stop (UNLV). I feel the need to mention this because of the part of the fanbase that questions DeVries's success in year 1 at WV (they are much improved from last year and without arguably their two best players).
