Fran praising Woodbury on calling the timeout with 2 sec to go. If you are going to praise should he say anything about the offensive goal tending or the muffed rebound that cost us. I believe Fran cost us the game but to heap praise on a senior who made one play seems a little over the top. Just goes to show you Woodbury and the rest of the seniors can do no wrong. How about all the bunnies he missed. I know not woodbury's fault that Fran was playing him. But come on? I'm getting a little old but has there been one game where we one on a last second shot by these seniors. Uthoff at NW tied but we ended up losing that game.

I don't see an over praising trend. If anything his descent press conferences have been negative/disgusted. He does defend his players though (Woodbury eye poke). If anything I wish he'd stop yelling at them so much.

Sitting in the stands I thought Woody made a great effort and awareness play to get the board and immediate time out. We ended up getting a Jok 3 point look out of it. The kid has played his heart out for us and am super appreciative of his efforts win or lose.

No one hurts worse than these players. Watch them come off the court after the game and you will know what I mean but I guess I assume you actually attend games in support of the team OP. I am glad Fran acknowledges and sticks up for his guys.

It's not going to happen but I would love our guys to make a great NCAA run and watch you d-bags eat your own crap. Of course you'd be singing the praises then like you were there all along.

What the heck was he doing in the game down by 3 with 6 seconds left anyway? Even dakich questioned it.

Since Dakich questioned it, maybe Dakich should have been in there to get the air ball and call a TO. At least AW gave them 1 more chance.

Clearly some fans anticipate participation trophies for showing up and competing. With this crowd, the rest of us 'ran Lickliter out'. Support blindly, never question, every player is awesome at all times and if you expect to have a decent year every 10, you are a bad fan. Fran has 1 NCAA win in year 6 seasons and this year was supposed to be 'the year' with 4 seniors + Jok; leadership, experience, toughness, battle tested and once again, they cannot finish games. The team appears disinterested again and Fran has said for 4 weeks that we are not executing, defending, taking care of the basketball, or making shots.

Unlike others, I think Fran is a great coach and gets a lot out of the talent he has. Unfortunately he continue to miss on better caliber guys and settles on 3rd and 4th options. Maybe the other fans are right and I should accept middle of the pack finishes and NCAA appearances instead of hoping that maybe we can make it to a Sweet 16. Next time I am at CHA, I will snap a picture of the NIT runner up flag to remind myself that we were one game away from being NIT champions.

What college coach in their right mind has ever bashed one of his players to the media or outside people. You are new to this aren't you?

Agreed, even though there are some things a coach wants to say to his players, you should never say it to the media. that makes you look worse than before. I am sure he tells them what they did wrong in film sessions and in practice. I am sure they get an ear full from coach everyday about what they are doing wrong.

The thing is at this level, most of these players know what they are doing wrong. I just think when players are more physical and more athletic than your guys, its tough. Plain and simple the past 3 games we have seen teams who are more athletic than our starting 5. They are better shooters, dribblers, and passers. Overall they are better than us.

so you are telling me that it was predictable that there was going to be an airball to be caught so you could use a to. That never happens, it's the first time i've ever seen it done.. Yes dakich was a coach, so while he may be an indiana homer it doesn't mean he was wrong.
If that ball had hit the rim it's highly likely there wouldn't have been time to get it back for a 3 point shot. But let's act like it was a stroke of coaching genius to put in a guy to catch an airball. Also anyone can be a screener so he wasn't a necessity there either. The guy getting/using the screen is far more important than the screener.
If there had be 8-10 seconds or more it may make sense to have someone in for rebounding. Or if you are down 2 points.

If you watched the huddle break, you would have seen Uthoff and Fran discussing timeout strategy. It was clearly a coaches decision, and with 6 seconds left, a smart one.

First time in Fran that he had a timeout strategy that did not include taking them to the lockerroom for the postgame party. Fran treats timeouts like a commodity that he can sell later
