Go Xavier (Jack Nunge Appreciation)

Sorry I’m not rooting for our opponents to win games. If them winning benefits us and gives us a higher seed in the B1G tourney or NCAA bid, then great. We still have to win our games and with our young team I’ll take a 16 seed if we get it, with a shit B1G conf. If it so happens. I’m not gonna root for em though especially TOSU 🙂

Furthermore, I thoroughly enjoyed Jack as a Hawk and hate TOSU with a passion, I’ll choose rooting for that young man, over them all day.

Does anyone but me think he would have transferred if his dad hadn't died? Dude came in with luka...maybe tired of playing in his shadow? Just used his dads passing as leverage? Xavier isn't that much closer from Iowa city.

I don't think he transfers if his Father is still alive. No reason to, he was a clear starter this year at Iowa (they probably don't get Rebraca this year if he stays, but I'd take Jack Nunge over Rebraca anyway).

Love me some Jack. I think we would have beaten Oregon with him last year and we’d be an easy tournament team this year. Defense, rebounding and shooting. Wouldn’t be shocked if he plays some European ball.
Jack on this team would make Iowa a legit top ten team. It’s really a shame he had to transfer.

As far as the Oregon game is concerned, Iowa was getting run out of the gym regardless with the rotation they had on the floor of JBo, Connor, and CJ Glassfoot.

Legitimate point. But there were times we played Garza and Nunge together last year that were really effective because of their brute size. I think Oregon might have been one of those games. He absolutely would have helped tremendously this year.

Didn't nunge have a lot of injuries too?

I have nothing to back this up, just the same inkling that you do. I still wish him the best, as I do CJ who unfortunately for him on this board has two living parents

I think he just needed a change of scenery and I don’t blame him. He’s had a long run of injuries and then obviously the loss of his dad last year. I think saying he “used his dads passing as leverage” is harsh and unfair. I’ve always been impressed by Jack Nunge - he’s really athletic for his size, a good outside shot and he works hard. He plays D and hits the boards.

With all he’s gone through, I’m not going to even think about judging his decisions. I’m just going to wish the best for him and I’ll be rooting for him in any game where he’s not playing Iowa…..and even then, I’ll root for him to get his but lose the game.

That and the game wasn’t a blowout from the start. It was pretty tight for most of the first half until Oregon went on a big run and ran away. If Jack could have given enough versatility and scoring capability to shorten/avoid that big run, who knows what happens. That loss was a momentum loss - the ball got rolling and couldn’t be stopped.

I get the good wishes for Jack Nunge. CJ was a shit bag. Iowa was the only school to offer him. Iowa started him the first game after his injury induced red shirt year. He was a dialed in starter for this season, and intended as a major scoring option.

He surreptitiously negotiated with Kentucky for what appears to be months. He lied to his coaches and players about the negotiations. He denied both the negotiations and any intention to transfer to both coaches and teammates literally 48 hours before he declared his transfer.

I don't find ingratitude, deception and desertion to be attractive personality traits. I know I'm unusually vindictive so I wish him nothing but disappointment and failure. Why on Earth would any Iowa fan wish CJ Fredrick good luck or give best wishes. A punk that did not deserve the chances he was given.

Let's let Sarah do this one for us:

Start using proper spacing, youre not that important

Agreed, totally ridiculous....

Same with saying he left because he was tired of living in Garza's shadow lol.
